People don't go to Tesco to relax and have a good time, they go there to shop, people do go to the pub to have a smoke and a drink, it's socially accepted. I know a lot of people who don't go to the pub to smoke and are very happy that soon there wont be others around them doing it. As long as you're all happy when you have to pick up the shortfall in the tax revenue. Not working from any stats or anything here but if smoking does drop enough to have an effect on tax revenue then I would guess there would also be an effect on smokers using up NHS resources?

When is the last time people felt so strongly against something they did something about it and actually made a difference? People feel strongly about lots of different things but rarely do they ever do something about it. I think its fair to say that a lot of people (especially non-smokers) though are very happy about this new law coming in.

If you haven't been a smoker then you perhaps don't realise how satisfying it is to sit down with a fag and a pint, it adds to the pub experience. Thankfully I don't know how great it is. As a non smoker I do know how shit it is to have some selfish prat blowing smoke in your face though. My fault though, if I go to pubs I should expect and accept this sort of thing happening.

It used to be ok (well a little more acceptable) to call a black person a "nigger", things change. In this day and age I don't see what the problem is with making the workplace a more comfortable place to work, especially if it is a measure that is also going to have a positive effect on someones health. I think its arrogant to expect people to go and work somewhere else if the job they enjoy doing (and want to do) can cause health problems. Is it really THAT difficult for a smoker to go outside?
-
Why can't smokers just fuck off outside and have their much needed fag? Maybe people like the idea of barwork, the banter with customers, not stacking shelves all day, sitting behind a desk or sitting on a till for 7 hours a day. But if they wish to do this job they should have to put up with someone elses habit because they knew about it before they took the job? I don't think its fair. Also from a selfish* point of view, I am also very happy I wont have to put up with smoke aswell. I will be able to go out and come home not stinking of fags. *I say selfish but then its not me who has the habit that infringes on others.

Well why can't they find a job in a supermarket, restaurant or any other sort of non-smokey environment, working in a bar is hardly a vocation. So THEY should have to find somewhere else to work because of what others choose to do OR the smokers could go and smoke outside... Nah definitely seems more fair to make someone who possibly enjoys their job to go and find a different vocation, something they might not wont enjoy as much so someone can enjoy their filthy habit.
-
What if people actually want to work in a bar but don't want to have to put up with the smoke and potential health problems? Fuck them, they know the risks... Doesn't seem fair to me.

I don't really see what anyone would have against it apart from the "the Government are going to force us to do xxxxx next" theory.

I love the way some smokers like to blame everyone else but themselves "Why should I give up my filthy habit that affects other people, they should just fuck off elsewhere" Yeah, that seems fair!

17 goals in his first season under a shit manager in a shit team, I'm willing to believe that he can improve on that under Allardyce being fed from a better midfield with real tactics. Exactly. I am confident Martins will always score goals and goalscorers cost money (typing on the day Darren Bent has just moved for £16.5m). Owen will be in the last year of his contract in a years time, I very much doubt he will be signing a new one so again I am very confident Martins will hold his value more than Owen.

Anecdotal evidence would suggest a lot of smokers trying to give up 'fall off the wagon' as it were down the pub. Yep heard that a few times, those who have given up but found it too hard when they have gone out at the weekened and been surrounded by smoke.
-
All seriousness though I think its a good thing (the ban), I know quite a few people are using it as a spur to give up. Obviously not everyone is going to manage it but if a few do its a good thing.
-
I think they are good. Obviously just been sucked into the media hype though because obviously I couldn't possibly just like them!

The smokers are on edge already and it hasn't even come in yet, will be fun when it does

Owen. Owen is the better player but Martins is younger and seems to have a much better injury record. Neither do much of any worth off the ball and given the fact Martins will play more and hold his value it seems a fairly simple choice.

Made Goddy a multi millionaire, and snared Chantelle a trophy husband. And at least 6 or 7 people have been 100K better off. That Gay fella did SMTV and that bald lass got into porn. Followed by a divorce, and what are sure to be lucrative interviews telling anyone who will listen about her 'heartbreak'. I don't think Goody's also enjoying her life much at the moment also tbh. Despite being a silly twat and bringing that on herself I am in no doubt she is a lot better off now than she would have been without big brother.

Absolutely fucking stupid goings on at my place. Some people are arguing they should be given paid leave and go on courses (which the companies also pay for) to help them give up. Fuck off!

It's only him man! Oh right, I thought Wacky got involved sometimes?

She was way too soft to be a parent "Hi its Mrs xxxxxx, still trying to get xxxxx into school today but he wont get up, he should be in in about an hour" Fucking hell! my parents weren't the sort to beat their kids but there is no way I would have been given the chance to say "nah, can't be arsed to get up".

They seem to be even now with the stupid money they got for Carrick.
