Wise breaks silence one year after Toon-gate
TheMoog replied to Christmas Tree 's topic in Newcastle Forum
If you appoint someone to a board with the title of executive director (football) then that person has total responsibility for the on field results of the club. Let's cut all the shit about signing players or spotting youth talent or his role in Keegan's exit - that was the bastards title. On that basis relegation is complete and total failure. And for that reason, I'm out. ... or at least Keegan was. -
FAO of the '' but what if we get aload of injuries''....
TheMoog replied to accadacca's topic in Newcastle Forum
Eggfuckingzacly! We wouldn't be playing in the second tier if they were "premiership quality players!" not all of them obviously. you telling me that Smith, Nolan, Barton and S. Taylor aren't Premier standard ? reason for relegation was due to a lot of factors one of which was some weren't prem quality and couldnt be carried by those that were - Barton and Smith were out of action for long spells if you remember. To be honest the majority of our team was easily mid-table Prem standard, the thing that sent us down was a lack of motivation from a lot of players who couldn't be arsed and had a lack of direction through bad management and running of the club. -

KEVIN KEEGAN SEEKS £10m FROM NEWCASTLE
TheMoog replied to Christmas Tree 's topic in Newcastle Forum
Its a tough one to call. On the one hand is your intelligent, reasoned argument sticking to whats actually happened and using common sense as well as simply backing a toon legend who's done more for this club than anyone in my time supporting the club, but there's also the counter argument from this thread of: OMG!!!LOL!11Keegan is a bottler!!11LOL They're both compelling arguments, but i think i'm going to have to go with Trophyshy on this one! No middle-ground then? Keegan's achievements in propelling us from near oblivion to the level we reached were nothing short of immense. Doesn't stop him acting like a spoilt child though when he is told he can't have something though. Whether it be Signori, or the Milner money. To be serious, there can be some middle ground i imagine! But really its down to whether you think he was being a spoilt child/bottler etc. or that he (like alot of us i'd guess) wouldn't take the kind of crap he was getting from ashley, wise et al and so don't hold it against him at all for walking out. Though as i've said in the past i wish he could have done it just 1 or 2 games later and we'd probably have stayed up and even though i think he should easilly win the case i'd rather he didn't just because we can't afford to lose anymore money from the club! As has been said before though you don't really believe that the club will lose any money that would have been spent on it anyway do you? I hope Kev nails Ashley's nuts to the mast. -
Nicely done sir. I tell you what, it's lovely seeing our boys scoring from long range ala Taylor and Guthrie, the team actually look like they're enjoying playing again at last!

Hughton told he has Newcastle job for rest of the season
TheMoog replied to Amir's topic in Newcastle Forum
It's got to the stage with Hughton now that if we did get a new owner it'd be better to keep him as the manager until he slips up, no point in changing a winning formula imo. -
Plenty of time for things to go to shit...

I don't think Smith played the same role for us in the Prem though and certainly didn't have an extended run like he's had in the last few weeks. Of course the CC is going to be an easier level for him but he seems to have grabbed the chance with both hands - something's got him playing well, enough so that I can see him being nabbed in January.

Any of the doubters starting to believe yet then ???
TheMoog replied to accadacca's topic in Newcastle Forum
Experience and drive will play out to be a big factor, as others have said it's nice while we're trundling along at the top and winning like we are but a few injuries could be all the difference. I always used to have blind optimism but over the last few years it's been knocked out of me by the club, I can't help feeling that something will go pear-shaped sooner or later. Hope the good times last though obviously. -
