  1. Really? From what I've seen it's always Israel is a monster, Israel is the biggest threat to world peace etc and the new channels seem biased towards that view. There's always two sides to these war debates. People should feel sorry for the Jews as well given the persecution they have had to put up with for centuries/milleniums. Erm.. I think a nation armed to the teeth bombing civilian districts with no air defense doesn't bear one iota of sympathy. It's barbaric and totally unwarranted and disproportionate. If America had any balls they would stop all aid to Israel immediately. No, but the people bombing don't exactly represent Israel as a whole and it's population in the past who have suffered from persecution.

  3. Gerrard is a model pro as well. He never does dangerous two-footed tackles, attempt to strangle players for their late tackles, dive, or whine at the referee.
  4. Not an ideal year really but that's life. Quite stressful on many occasions but had lots of fun with mates, such as the leaving school trip to south France and the Radiohead gig in London which was stunning. Left school which was good but also sad as it was a great school. Left with (some) great A-level results and started at Newcastle Uni in September, which went a bit awkward at first but going nicely now.
  5. Berbatov - didn't manage more than 15 goals a season for Spurs. I know he wasn't supposed to be a goal poacher but that's not a lot for someone is supposedly worth £30 million. Hardly set the world alight at Man Utd. I think Tevez is far better but he too was overpriced. Deco and Xavi - never understood the hype when they were at Barca. Dee-dee-eh Drogba - world class for one season. Jamie Carragher Petr Cech - makes as many mistakes as anyone else and crap at saving penalties for someone so tall.
  6. I used to think Terry and Rio were overrated but now I'm not sure - they make mistakes but every defender does. Who in the world is better than them? I can't think of many other centre-backs I'd call "world class".
  7. Carroll's "dive" looked far more a penalty than Heskey's. But instead the ref chooses to give him a yellow card. That could easily have been a penalty. When you add that to the Heskey dive and fact he was offside, Zaki's "exaggerated reactions" and Cattermole only get a yellow for a terrible attempted tackle, it's fair to say we were hard done by from the referee despite our poor performance.
  8. Hopefully they will appeal against Bassong's red. Anyone who watches the replay should be able to work outwhat little contact there is between Bassong and Heskey after the play-on is minimal. Bassong simply caught up with Heskey because he was on the right side of him and he is quick and Heskey isn't. That said, if the card is overturned, it won't be prior to the Liverpool match, which will likely leave us with a defence of Edgar - Taylor - Coloccini - N'Zogbia.
  9. We've kept clean sheets the last three away games. Not sure about Boro but Portsmouth and definitely Chelsea have superior strikers, so there's no reason we can't get something out of this match. Trends have got to end at some point (we've lost 1-0 away to them four straight matches) so hopefully it will be today. I will, however, be very content with a point given our recent record and the fact Wigan are doing well currently.
  10. Has to be Gonzalez, after all those billions the club forked out to secure his signature.
  11. Ah that is true - he doesn't exactly lack power and responsibiity to religion. I still think the way he's expressed his opinions is clumsy and irresponsible, but they're also nothing new for Christians - God doesn't want homosexual acts etc. I think there's more important issues he could havce focussed on. Maybe he could have shown awareness and respect for gay Catholics trying to live a celibate life.
  12. to be honest i also think his comments are silly and not sure why he picked the season of good will to express his views. i find his comparison to saving rainforests a bit confusing as the comments about sexuality concern society's wellbeing, whereas saving rainforests issues concern conserving the environment. it is, however, his opinion and i think he should be free to express it as long as anyone can say we need to save the world from organised religion among other things. i think the outrage is that homosexuals have been mistreated as a result of prejudice from religious people throughout history - something surely anyone who believes in loving their neighbour would find disgraceful. i don't think his comments are particularly helpful in tackling these important issues as it can provoke the continual prejudice and at the very least doesn't do much to change some people's stereotypes that religious people in general are prejudice against gay people.
  13. Would be fantastic if we can carry on this nice little string of league victories against the Spuds as they're games are always a good laugh. They did win the last enocunter however. One thing's for sure is it will be a much better match than that one.
  14. Tbh, I reckon it's more to do with that than Owen having no interest in staying.
  15. If all of our results had been the same apart from conceding late home goals against Man City, Wigan and Stoke, we'd be 8th and people would be ignoring the mess behind the scenes. As it stands we're hovering around the relegation zone and are without doubt relegation possibilities because we keep stuffing up.
  16. I'm at Newcastle University. Sometimes do work there from time to time.
  17. I personally feel Shearer has all the attributes to be a top manager - he's commanding, motivational, seems to have a very good understanding of defensive (as well as attacking) tactics and strikes me as the sort of person who would pick players and give credit when they deserve to be picked. Obviously not guaranteeing anything, but if it really is between Kinnear and Shearer for the job then Shearer gets my pick any day.
  18. In other words, Duff's realised he'd be lucky to make the bench under any manager who isn't "Irish".
  19. Coloccini is a bit odd - for a defender who is brilliant the majority of the time, he does seem to find too many schoolboy errors that lead to goals. He needs to cut these out - they were exactly what let big Titus Malachi Bramble down.
  20. I know he's a troll but I would like to know why people get so uptight about people not from the city supporting their own club, as if it matters? Why is having lots of fans a bad thing? My home town when not at university has no football team I know of. I was never passionate about Gillingham or Dover Athletic, even if it's good to see teams from Kent win. I do not think I am harming Geordies by supporting Newcastle United. In any case, for a lot of the time I do support my "local team" as I'm currently 15 minutes from SJP.
  21. Aye, you're not welcome. You've upset young HEARTBREAKER here by the horrible crime of supporting the same football club as he does.
  22. Still think he's done some brilliant work at Arsenal, but they're fans will demand and expect better than what they've had in recent years. In any case, he's been there an age and has won quite a few trophies. Doesn't he want another challenge?
  23. Which is why he is overrated and not a patch on Ferguson.
  24. Toonraider is a mag, is a mag, is a mag Toonraider is a mag, she hates scousers! You're always slagging them off KUTGW I am a Mag I'm sure there are many very lovely scousers, I just dont like their accent and as I've said on here before we are over-run with them in Torquay, now becoming known as the 'Scouse Riviera' and I'm not joking! I think the Scouse accent sounds good on a girl and comical on a bloke tbh. I also think it sounds good on girls if it isn't strong/chavvy... In fact I'd say the worst accents are when cockney meets West Indian and Asian. The sort people associate with "gangs".
