  1. Scouse really isn't that bad if it isn't at all "thick". Cockney is definitely the worst British accent - it never sounds pleasant. I'm from Kent so can sometimes sound slightly like cockney when talking to chavvy people but thankfully I don't normally sound like that.
  2. Wenger is overrated as well. Okay their team is weaker this season, but he's not a patch on Ferguson.
  3. I think he's deserved plenty of criticism over the years. It's the very blunt abuse he gets for stuffing things up or his overly ambitious comments (because thinking positively is a crime apparently) that annoys me. He's barely had a chance in the two years before the Man City game, and he was playing well before the last two seasons. It's no surprise if he played awfully last season when he played, as he barely got a chance. It was also interesting to see him at times getting far more abuse than other players who played as bad if not worse, such as Derby away last year.
  4. I find it strange how Geordies and Mackems are just the same but Arsenal and Spurs are the ones who actually come from the same area of the same city.
  5. You aren't going to start sniggering at illogical beliefs are you ? Good point. Please help logic return to me so I can realise that life is blatantly pointless.
  6. Have the tickets sold out already? Was hoping to go with a few mates, but Metallica are quite a "big" band after all...
  7. He may be no Keegan, but Martin Jol was pretty good. Unlike the genius Ramos though, he's tactically naive, didn't win the Carling Cup and wasn't up the to task of managing a big club. The silly bloke is only top of the German league with Hamburg.
  8. What's the conspiracy theory - the beliefs or the percentages?
  9. Against a tricky customer like SWP, I'd rather Bassong to Enrique as he's faster and stronger. He doesn't offer a lot going forward but he's been solid in defence, which is obviously very important.
  10. I don't see how anyone can say it should have been a penalty. From all the angles I saw the challenge, I didn't see any contact. Perhaps there was a slight contact, but certainly not enough for a foul - I personally thought it was an excellent tackle from an excellent defender.
  11. British Sea Power - Waving Flags Seeing them on thursday at t'uni.
  12. Have to admit, Matt Taylor's free-kick was ridiculously good.
  13. Exactly, and people are clearly ignoring the fact he's been there 14 months, which will probably effect his development. I'd be surprised if he doesn't get 30-40 France caps. Actually just realised Guthrie and Duff had fine games also, but still N'Zogbia could be a fantastic player - fast, strong, reasonable crosser and excellent strike of the ball. Definitely better than Milner.
  14. I think N'Zogbia was our best player today, so I don't know why people are complaining. He showed glimpses of being a very good midfielder. In fact he impresses me very often when he plays left-wing. I can't understand why anyone would want him playing left-back as he cann;t play there, simply.
  15. You'd think Barton's the most evil man in the world by the way the media/fans/players bang on about him.
  16. I still don't really get these discussions. If any big city is considered a "dive" then surely all the other ones are because a large proportion of each big city isn't very nice. Is Newcastle a "dive" because of areas like Byker, Walker etc and all the chavs? That's what you get in all big cities. When you rate a big city you rate it on how attractive you find the city centre, the facilities, entertainment and it's all very subjective. That said, I've never heard anyone say Bradford is a nice city - is even the city centre run down then (because you certainly can't say that for Newcastle)? There are some very nice bits of Bradford - particularly towards Shipley/Saltaire. I'll take your word for it as I've never been there after all. Newcastle is full of rough areas but I still think it's a "nice" city, so why Birmingham, Bristol etc can't be also is what I'm wondering.

  18. Good luck sorting things out paddy. Have to admit, it sounds like your wife isn't helping by not making an effort to sort things out because surely deep down she knows what's best for her family is for things to stay the way they are? Now you're having to leave the house as well it seems. Maybe also she or both of you could seek counselling to handle the situation? That's just my take on the situation though and I've never been married (I've only just started university), but I know other people do that and I've had counselling for other personal, which I am very grateful for.
  19. Of course I do. Ramos has really upped the fitness levels at the club so we are no longer sitting back 60 minutes into a game and absorbing pressure like we used to. He has also had a pretty decent record against the top four (beating Chelsea and Arsenal, drawing twice with Chelsea and Manure). Something Jol could never seem to achieve. The problem goes higher than Ramos, we will never be a top club if the club is willing to sell our top players. Keane Berbatov and Carrick were all massive blows and to a lesser extent Steed and TT could do a job. A year ago we had Defoe Keane and Berbatov and we have replaced that with Bent and Pav. Add to that we have repeatedly failed to sign a DM and a CB to replace King and theres your answer. I used to like the way we were run like a business but right now I would give my right arm for a sheik with a fist full of Kuwaiti Dinar. Thanks for the response. No doubt the problems go higher than Ramos - selling three top-class strikers in 8 or so months is always going to cause problems. That said, I am a bit sceptical over Ramos' decisions and there's no way a team with your players (a far stronger squad than ours) should be rock bottom now, even if the top four predictions were a bit high.
  20. Not having a go at you Danny, but do you still like the man in your picture? I'm struggling to see what he's done well since becoming Spurs manager. Winning the League Cup wouold be the obvious answer I suppose, though Souness and McClaren both won it also in recent years...
  21. I know he wants to leave but we can't blame him for that. At least he's doing his best on and off the pitch in this pretty terrible situation for the club. He's still a fantastic footballer - people think of him as a goal poacher who has lost his pace over the years, but his control, vision etc is still excellent. He's too good for a club like us and I'm sure he knows it so we can only hope he keeps doing his best and scoring goals like he has been in the past 9 months or so for as long/short as he's here.
  22. Really sorry about that and really hoping things can change, and that you enjoy a win for the Toon also.
