  1. Sending in his own people to make the true fans seem like the minority? Why am I not surprised?
  2. I reckon he's got a stay of execution for now...
  3. don't options C and D merge into one?
  4. Aye I do remember that we were in for Ginola but them looked to Salako. Didn't we make that audacious move for Baggio before we went back in for Ginola?
  5. Why do I have the feeling we'll be dragging this quote up in a little over 6 months and adding it to HF's list of bullshit? Strongest indication yet to me that Owen will definitely go.
  6. That is of paramount importance, for me. I don't have one iota of confidence in the man. The other two stooges have to go too IMO (Wise and Llambias).
  7. The thing is a lot of managers do that sort of thing.... once (although they'd been doing ok just prior to him taking control). Ferguson anywhere but Man U might have been a very good manager, but he wouldn't have won as much as he has. Although even at Man U he had the benefits of spending quite a bit from the off, the club punching below its weight and long term backing for finishes that would have got many manager sacked (I'll be surprised if any other Man U manager gets 4 seasons of backing like Fergy did for similar results, ever again). I wouldn't disagree. He's totally earned any plaudits he's gained at Man Utd though. He may have gained from certain circumstances etc. But name me one successful person on anything like his scale you couldn't say the same about? Everyone needs a bit of luck / being in the right place at the right time. So true. If Robson hadn't signed/got lucky with Bellamy and Robert would we hold him in such high regard? Those two signings changed our whole team and Bellamy was 3rd choice behind Bridges and Jeffers. Not sure Robert was even our first choice target either tbh Zenden was iirc. Correct. It echoed the transfer of Ginola by Keegan who he only turned to when his first choice failed a medical....... John Salako.
  8. Dalglish back to Liverpool has been a strong rumour on Merseyside for quite some time now...
  9. Actually his success at Man Utd has been built up on low cost buys and youth team players. The Neville's, Butt, Scholes, Giggs and Beckham all cost nothing while players like, Schmeichel, Cantona, Ince, Dublin and Kanchelskis and Keane were all bought for nominal fee's. He has spent big on some players but overall i don't think you can say he's only successful because he's had money. He rebuilt Man Utd from the ground up, they were patient with him in the beginning and they are now reaping the rewards. While I'm with you on the argument, you can't suggest that Keane was bought for a nominal fee. £3.6m IIRC which, at the time, was a British record eclipsing the £3.3m Blackburn paid Southampton for Shearer. Didn't last long before Blackburn paid Norwich £5m for Chris Sutton though.
  10. Marco Andretti being in F1 would be the first example of a third generation in the sport. His Dad Michael drove for McLaren back in 1993 and his Grandad Mario was F1 World Champion in 1978 driving for Lotus.
  11. Aye... or you could also get half rangers/newcastle. Didn't they do half brazil/newcastle when we signed Mirandinha too? I was actually thinking about those hats when this shop was mentioned. I had a half Toon / half Brazil one. They were those almost square ones that were basically tea cozies. Mine had a pom pom on top, but they weren't half and half as I pointed out. I had one of the flat caps with the old NUFC ball logo on the top
  12. Aye... or you could also get half rangers/newcastle. Didn't they do half brazil/newcastle when we signed Mirandinha too? 3/4 Toon 1/4 Brazil, I think I've still got mine somewhere. They were selling sombrero's as well, even though they are fuck all to do with Brazil. Rob are you sure it wasn't you who won the Nobel Peace Prize??? Fuck Desmond Tutu, Rob deserves it more. Total knob. Didn't they sell half newcastle / half brazil shirts for a time too? Literally was a job lot of replica shirts of each which had been cut down the middle and given the sewing machine treatment rather than being specifically produced.
  13. She'll probably chuck the keys in her mechanic's direction...
  14. Team America.... Fuck yeah!!! Danica Patrick in an F1 car though? Fingers crossed she'd be more effective than Giovanna Amati.
  15. Whatever your political beliefs, the loss of a child for anyone is extremely sad. RIP little fella
  16. Latest daily shite.... she asked her doctors to help her commit suicide. Why doesn't she just go to Switzerland if she's serious?
  17. Aye... or you could also get half rangers/newcastle. Didn't they do half brazil/newcastle when we signed Mirandinha too?
  18. I think they're in for a fucking shock tbh. This time, I don't think the fans will simply retreat and buy the tickets like we have done in the past. I also think it's going to take a damned sight more than the 'cosmetic' changes that they've alluded to thus far. At least 3 examples of high end personnel need to be dispensed with / replaced. If Ashley can't see that, he's a fucking mug!
  19. I echo this.... What I want to see is the investment which is very visably needed in the playing squad. Given this bunch of monkey's previous form and the May deadline - I have no doubt that they have every fucking intention of fleecing the fans further. If this gesture was as heart-felt as they're pathetically trying to make it seem - surely they'd run with the discounts all summer? As for the slap in the face they've given the fans who took the 3 year option last summer, I genuinely believe it never crossed their minds what issues this statement will have caused. They thick as fuck man!
  20. .COM have picked up on this also....
  21. You didn't have Papa L with you at the time did you?
  22. Nah... I went in there over christmas. The place I used to work is no longer there - it's now the hairdressers as you go in on the left handside next door to (nearer to the front street than) the butchers. The place further up on the elbow is new (to me). Isn't it called Direct Sports or something and has a label in the window stating that they're NOT Sports Direct? It's years ago I was working there - summer of 1997.
  23. I guess that proves beyond doubt that it wasn't a fake..
