Freddy...if you're reading...do the decent thing and sell up...
Craig replied to Asprilla's topic in Newcastle Forum
Why the essay? A simple "fuck off" would suffice... -
Fucking nicking off fellow fans. Tramps. Fucking disgrace - but it needs highlighting that it is the minority... There was one lass who called Talksport this morning complaining the same, said her other half, her brother and Dad had gone to the final, her Dad being 71 and just recovered from a double hip replacement and he apparently got smacked over the head and his wallet nicked by another 'believed to be' Liverpool fan. Kudos to the bloke who made this post mind - proves that they're not all the same.

Owned by virgin now, aren't they?? * Isn't about time you updated your sig and avatar? That was the last time we changed manager

Well they said on Talksport last night that AXA (and another company) had a healthy share of the club and that if there's a sniff that they club will be bought, they'll definitely sell. Shepherd is going to be left pissing in the wind with no power if he digs his heels in - apart from being the epitome of arrogance, there's no other point to him holding on...

Cheers dude. Bet it was a lot easier back then. Yeah right - no theory test back then though

I remember the game well - Charlotte was 2 days old and sleeping soundly in my arms...........until Owen scored!

Is the first one fish? Nope, but the second to last one who's wheeling his hand around a lot looks like Gemmill to me. Looks like you've lost some weight Scott....

Well done mate! Just working it out, it'll be 11 years ago next month since I passed mine

What further advantage does it give them over us if they'd won it? Seriously? if they were on a par with us perhaps I'd see your point. Take away your loyalty for NUFC for one moment and ask yourself this: You're a footballer who is being chased by two clubs, one finished 3rd in the league, qualified for the Champions League and have just finished runners up in this season's competition. The other finished 13th and have no European football next season. Which seems the more appealing prospect? And now ask yourself had the team who finished 3rd actually won the Champions League, would it have any significant bearing on your decision? I doubt it would. They finished runners up in a competition we couldn't even qualify for. That's like Whitley Bay begrudging Newcastle winning the FA Cup - it's crackers. I cannot support another English team to win a football match that will see them gain even more financial advantage over us and make them even more attractive to players that we might also be in the market for, I cannot turn off my support for Newcastle United like the flick of a switch when the disadvantages to us are so clear. I get your points and I'm not saying your wrong. I'm not turning off my support for NUFC in my eyes because we're not involved in the competition. As for the disadvantages, they're not clear at all to me but as I said, we all see it differently.

3 years ago, I'd have agreed with you. I don't now - they're miles ahead of us (more indicative of our decline than any ascent on their part). They still got to a Champions League Final regardless of winning it. If winning it would strengthen their position over us, coming runners-up won't have done them much harm.

Given the amount of re-building we need to do this summer, a fight over the ownership of the club is the last thing we need. If Shepherd has any feelings for the football club rather than the business, he'll expediate this takeover as quickly as possible.

Ashley offer points to end for Shepherd at Newcastle

He doesn't have to be the chairman. Abramovich isn't Chelsea chaiman iirc. Thanks for that. I don't think I've ever heard of Bruce Buck at Chelsea. It would be quality to see the club run well from top to bottom. It's been something that's been needed desperately lately. Aye, slightly worrying though when you read about unpaid bonuses in his other businesses etc. Apparently shareholders of his Sports Direct (or whatever it's called) group are saying he should be paying full attention to that business and not getting distracted by NUFC, as the value of shares is currently about 2/3 of the flotation price or something. I heard something about that but was immediately questioning the integrity of the comments. Nothing was a direct quote and I wouldn't put it past certain parts of the media to knock us given half a chance. The bloke seems to be managing his businesses quite well given the amount he made when he floated it. He was bound to make money on flotation though, wasn't he? It's what happened since the flotation that seems to be concerning the shareholders. I'm not saying he's coming along here to fuck things up or owt, as I think if he puts the right people in place he could make a success of the club, but there's the odd alarm bell ringing from some of the stuff you hear. Aye, but there's always gonna be an alarm bell, whoever it is or whatever the situation. The doom-mongers are going to bring points like this up to the media though to try and knock us. I know where you're coming from though. -
Says who??
-
I agree with you on that one. However I think the "would rather see Newcastle win a corner..." comment gets taken out of context. What i think people mean when they say that is that Newcastle is their main interest and when a club v country issue crops up (remember the Bellamy playing for Wales and getting injured and therefore never playing for us carry on?), they're going to back the club every time. Whenever England play, I desperately want them to win - they're my country and I'm gutted when we don't.

Yep, whilst doing the dishes, feeding the cats, doing the shopping, surfing the net, drinking tea, eating chocolate and achieving world peace. Domestic goddess me, man Can't buy three bags of shopping from Tesco and remember to get your house keys out of your locker before leaving work though? It was more than 3. I'd gone to get some bobbing apples for hallowe'en and spent £100 Okay, I'm a scatterbrained domestic goddess Fucking hell, they saw you coming!! Make that a gulliable, scatterbrained, domestic goddess
-
That's your correct order - people are entitled to see it differently though...
-
This comes up every time an English club plays in a European final. While some people say they prefer Newcastle to win a corner rather than England win the world cup, I doubt they're crying every time the national team score a goal tbh. Newcastle comes first for me, always will. Then England/other English teams have my vested interest ahead of other nations/teams from other nations of whom I have little opinion. Seeing as we're currently not of the standard to play in the Champions League, I see no problem in me wanting another English club to win it. I accept that others don't see it that way.

He doesn't have to be the chairman. Abramovich isn't Chelsea chaiman iirc. Precisely. Bates stayed on as chairman for a couple of weeks before deciding he couldn't hack being told what to do by a new boss and moved on to be replaced by Bruce Buck who I think effectively runs the business side of things. They appointed Kenyon to run the footballing side. Incidentally, is this the first 'takeover' to come out of the blue since Roman took Chelsea? The Man Utd, Villa, Liverpool, West Ham & Citeh takeovers have all been widely reported by the press. Before yesterday though, who'd ever heard of Mike Ashley? -
