  1. He played better in the last few weeks of the season under Rafa than he had under McClaren. But really, under McClaren, we could have stuck a chair in the middle of the pitch with the number 7 shirt on and no one would have noticed the difference. So it didn't take much to see an improvement.
  2. Haha the irony completely lost on that fucking waste of space.
  3. He may get more assists because he just lays a simple ball off to a better quality player who makes something out of it himself, but playing with better players isn't going to improve his passing. And at 27 he's not likely to have his passing skills improved greatly by his coach whether Poch is a better coach than Rafa or not (not being the correct answer there).
  4. Aye I think we'll see a lot of changing of the team. I would think that Gayle, Ritchie, Mitro, Lascelles, Hayden, Mbemba, and Sels will play the majority of games with Shelvey, and Diame not being far behind. The likes of Gamez, Anita, Lazaar, Dummett, Colback, Perez, Atsu, Hanley, Yedelin and Clark will all get plenty of games but I don't think any of them will be a real first choice unless they come in and do better than expected. I do also think he'll try and keep a few of the players in from last season for now until the new lads have time to settle in. Rafa won't want to be playing a team of nearly all new faces at this stage.
  5. Apparently he disappeared for 90 minutes last night when Everton were trying to get something from him. Spurs had better get used to that for the next five years. I've long stopped thinking he's a good player. His ability on the ball is certainly lacking for a top player and he's far weaker than he appears to be. If he's really up for it he's very athletic and can drive up the field but that's about it. That's all he did in the Euro's even. His passing was still miles off the mark and his shooting no better. He really is the epitome of a match of the day player. I'm sure Spurs fans will be happy to begin with but I doubt their stupid enough not to see through him in time. It'll go exactly the same way as Pardew has with Palace fans.
  6. He seemed to do ok at Malaga in the second half of last season. Which is good since he barely managed a game in the season and a half before that at loan to Everton and Bournemouth.
  7. I reckon we would have done this summer had we stayed up. Most of the records that have fallen have been on pretty average players. Of course our record was higher than most clubs in this country but that just shows how much we've fallen under Ashley.
  8. I saw a few comments from people with knowledge of French football on twitter saying that he's a good prospect but they were surprised at the price. I can't imagine many people over here have a clue about him. Similar to our new leftback really.
  9. What I will say in his defence, is that I think he's been horribly advised by his agent. He could have come out of this easily without looking like a cunt if someone had just told him to keep his head down and bide his time.
  10. Respected journo's still not biting on that one.
  11. Caulkin adds a bit of credibility but he tweeted something the other night and then dismissed it seconds later. I'd take a part ex with McCarthy from Everton.
  12. He's a player who, unless he's putting in the effort, is worse than fucking useless. He couldn't be bothered to put the effort in when we playing in the premier league so I can't believe after a summer of sulking he's going to put it in now. Even against the weaker opposition in this league he'll be a waste of a shirt if he plays in a huff.
  13. I see the mackems have broken their transfer record signing this kid from France. Is that every team in the division that's done that this summer?
  14. I don't understand where they every plucked that figure out of. It was always going to be a non starter.
  15. I agree. The question is how long do you let him rot. There's still a lot of his contract left and the more he doesn't play the more his value drops. Arguably, his value will drop playing in the championship too, especially if he drops out of the French squad. Don't think we'll ever get more for him than we can now unless he massively ups his performances for us.
  16. Everton being talked about again now. Expect the the stories to swing back and forth til 11 then he's stuck here. Have to say that I'm very surprised it's come to this. With the money that's been spent on players who no one has heard of and don't have any experience in the league, I don't think the price we've set is too high for a player who as highly regarded. Everyone who doesn't have to watch him regularly talks him up and we had no problem getting big money for Gini.
  17. My heart just drops whenever I see Dummett's name on the teamsheet.
  18. Maybe and I suppose that's a good thing.
  19. Why the fuck would we reject a bid for Dummett? If they offered to let us pay £2m for them to take him it would still be a good deal for us.
  20. If they're based on performances over a year that makes sense it just seems lately that after every test we've had a new number one. Broad, Ashwin, Anderson, Yasir and now Steyn. It looked to me like the most recent performance was making all the difference. I.e. Broad has a good test so all of a sudden he's number one in the world. But as soon as someone else plays they are. It just seemed whoever played played most recently was number one.
  21. Fantastic performance yesterday. The change since the world cup is incredible. We must be near the top of the one day rankings now. Talking of rankings, I see Steyn has moved back to the top of the bowling rankings now. I'm not totally sure how it works but they seem to change whenever anyone plays a match. What's the point in them changing that frequently? A player moves to the top by virtue of having played rather than because he played particularly well. I think Steyn took a few wickets for nothing against NZ to be fair but Anderson was top after that last Pakistan test without playing particularly well. It becomes pretty much meaningless when they do it like this.
  22. I suppose if it's a loan deal, there's a fair chance a player will still get the same wage anyway so then they could go abroad. I imagine that's how Joe Cole ended up playing for Lille. The only other players that go abroad are either real top class players like Beckham. Owen and Woodgate who can go to teams like Real, or ones that are prepared to go to shit leagues that play well like Saylor.
