  1. I want to make it clear that despite my misgivings about Pardew, I am in no way part of any posse of CT's
  2. My biggest worry is that Pardew has said on a number of occassions that he has made mistakes this season but for the big ones that I see (set pieces, cautious set ups, inability to get the team fired up from the off, no decernible pattern of play), I see no changes being made. So the question is, is he learning from them or is he simply full of shite and really thinking that the whole problem has been injuries and not strengthening the squad last summer? Of course it would be ridiculous to dismiss those points as simply excuses because they are facts but they aren't reason behind why we come out of the blocks like the bizzaro version of Usaine Bolt. If he has actually learned from the mistakes and put them right then it's definitely in our best interests that he stays but at the minute while i'm hearing the right things I'm seeing the same shite.
  3. The Guard. Brendan Gleeson in an In Brugge type of commedy. Excellent stuff.
  4. The new Primal Scream album is shaping up pretty well after the first five songs or so.
  5. This is spot on. When Fergie was initially given time it was during a period where they'd had a couple of second place finishes in between several seasons outside the top ten and no league titles since the sixties. There wasn't the expectation for a manager to take them to a league title immediately (when I first started getting in to football in the mid eighties they weren't considered as big a team as Liverpool, Everton, Spurs or Arsenal. Hell I even remember West Ham looking more like contenders than them). Now they expect second as a minimum along with a trophy and Champions League semis. They need them to keep their share price up. If they went years without a trophy they would still keep the vast majority of their fan base but the money men would be going mental so they would be forced to act a lot sooner. I rate Moyes but the size of this step up makes it likely he's going to need time to grow into the role and I really don't think they have a team that's good enough to carry a manager (the manger has carried the team for a few years now for my money) until he does that.
  6. Well I'm just going off the gold on there but I still can't see a white border to a gold number making it that much clearer.
  7. You wont be able to see the numbers on any player with a squad number of 1 to 9 judging by that!
  8. Although it did make me think more of Supermen Lovers on first listen!
  9. Thought it was a big slight and dull the first couple of listens but I fucking love it now. Can see it being the sound of many Saturday nights for the next few month!
  10. Just about remember his name and face from when I first started getting into football. Cant remember ever seeing him play but sounds like the type of player we could do with a few more of these days. As has been said, that's far too young to go. RIP.
  11. I think Elliot is about the only player who's not disapointed this season (possible Gouffran as he's been what I expected and Haidara who's not played much yet which was also what I expected) and actually exceeded expectations. Everyone else has for the most part underperformed for a variety of reasons.
  12. This being the ideal scenario for us on Sunday. Being that we're Newcastle United though, the chances of this happening have to be about as good as Toys R Us getting the cast of Corrie to open their next store!
  13. This. I would fucking dread going into the last game knowing that we need to better (or even match) Wigans result to stay up. We must get something on Sunday and I think if we do it will be enough to keep us up. Although of course a win will pretty much allow us to put our feet up for the rest of the season which would be very nice given how hard the last few weeks have been to deal with!
  14. It's a staggeringly inaccurate assessment of the situation today given the Wigan result last night. The draw with West Ham means we have to win one of our remaining games to have a chance of staying up does it? Despite the fact that we're three points clear of Wigan who play Arsenal away next. In all likelyhood, one point will be enough to keep us up but it's also quite posiible that we already have enough. But don't let that stop you from having a dig Luke!
  15. I think they will be looking for a manager to stay for at least five years but more likely ten plus. In that respect they've seen Moyes do that at a much smaller club in Everton and will be thinking he'll be over the moon to do the same there. Mourinho has managed three teams in about five years so I can't see them wanting to go down that route (although it would of course be hilarious if it happened just for the Chelski fans reaction). There would be doubts over the longevity of any other foreign manager too not matter how good they are. Whilst I respect what Moyes has done at Everton he's won fuck all and never had the pressure to it. As a consquence he also doesn't have that winning mentality that Ferguson has. Thats why Manure have been at the top for so long (other than Barca can you think of any other team in the big footballing nations who have stayed in the top three every season for so long? Maybe Bayern?) and that could be the very area which they lose ground in! I just wish this had happened in one the spells where we had a club that could compete at the top of the league. It must give a massive boost to Citeh, Chelski and Arsenal ahead of next season. When we were last really on the verge, Abramovic took over at Stamford Bridge and I think that knocked the stuffing out of us when we realised we wouldn't be able to compete with their finances. This will have the opposite effect on the chasing pack!
  16. Yeah it's good. Wouldn't expect it to be able to hold your attention with it just being him talking but it definitely did.
  17. The Man From Earth. Film about a college professor who tells all his friends he's leaving town all of a sudden. When, at a leaving party for him, they press him for a reason, he tells them he's actually fourteen thousand years old. I'm guessing it's a made for tv movie going by the cast and it does come across like an episode of some sci fi tv show but it's actually quite cleverly done and well worth a watch.
  18. It does seem that they really thought they could do anything they wanted back then and everyone would brush it under the carpet. Saville is the prime example of this. From what I remember about the documentary there were a lot of people who were quite certain he was up to no good but were too scared for their own position to do anything about it. You would hope that someone getting a paedo convicted would get praised for their actions but back then it could have ended their career. In that respect there was something very wrong with the BBC at the time!
  19. After tonight Norwich could actually be our best shot of staying up. But given that they have West Brom at home at the weekend, I could actually see them getting something there too. There were actually more than enough positives to take from our game on Saturday to suggest we can win at QPR but you just know Remy's going to score and Redknapp would love to put us down so I'm anything but confident.
  20. Went to see a few (Toy Story 3 etc) with the ex. Given that she was 13 years younger than me some of the lads did suggest I should be on the end credits of Corrie like!
