  1. Hope this doesn't come back to bite me but after the last three games I have absolutely no worries about relegation now. I've been pretty happy with our performances all season (the Wigan game was the only where I thought we were shite and even then we showed great spirit and fight to get back into the game), we could have easily beaten Blackpool and Stoke on other days even though they weren't our best performances. But the fight and togetherness (along with some excellent moments in posession) in these last few games have been abolutely fantastic. We aren't going to keep a run like this going all season but I'm confident this is not just about a bit of good fortune or a purple patch, I genuinly think we have a pretty decent team and I think a mid table finish this season is well within our capability.
  2. I think while there are obvious flaws in Jonas' delivery, a lot of people underestimate his contribution to the team with the things you mention above and his ability to beat a man (or two). On the topic of Ben Arfa I will be interested to see whether Barton can Keep his form going on the right and whether Nolan and Shola can keep it up through the middle. I think it's more likely the form of one of those three will allow him back in than Jonas.
  3. We were saying before the match that someone should kick Cattermole straight away because I knew he'd lose it. As it turned out it didn't need that as he was mental from the off. And I thought the three of Barton, Nolan and Tiote just completely destroyed their midfield five. Nolan had his best game for us (even without the goals) but Barton was superb.
  4. Would hate to see someone like Carrol play tonight and get injured and miss Sunday. I'd love to see us make a real effort to win this cup but given our squad situation I don't think we can risk playing a full strength team tonight.
  5. A lot of people were coming away from the game on Sunday already proclaiming him our best player. I'm not ready to go along with that yet but so far he's looking a bargin and just the sort of midfielder we've been after for years.
  6. He did as long as the ball came straight to him from a clearance. The problem was he didn't offer any movement at all so when we were trying to build attacks we had nothing to aim for. Especially if we broke with any sort of pace as he was still lolloping around in the centre circle/our half when our midfielders/defenders were looking to play a striker in.
  7. No he wasn't he was fucking useless. I don't know if you were at the game or just watched it on the telly but everyone around me could see how his lack of movement was causing us massive problems going forward. He's unbelievably lazy more so than Robert ever was. The rest of the team were moving forward looking for a pass and he was just standing still. There's no was to pick out a pass to someone who's so easily marked. I don't know why Caroll didn't satrt but if he was fit, this was a major error by Hughton yesterday.
  8. His change of direction at the pace he did it at was impressive to be fair. I thought it was a good goal but Waddle's reaction was a bit OTT. Was that not just because it was a goal against us? Waddle's bias against us is becoming a joke tbh! Johnson did well but Jose should have realised who he was up against and forced him on his weaker foot (which tbf he he put right after but unfortuately too late). You just knew what Johnson would be looking to do!
  9. That doesn't sound promising as Smith lost a hell of a lot of his game due to that injury!
  10. Tbf they won't win the league this season because they just aren't anywhere near good enough. I can't beleive the money they've spunked away on the players that they have. I still say we got good money for Milner so what they paid was a fucking joke and what they're paying for Toure is even more comical. That said I do agree with the opening point and I think it's the reason why Manure are still up there despite having a much inferior side to what they've had in the past. Btw I also agree their fans are shite. They were a fucking joke yesterday, virtually silent other than when they were in front and a shit load of empty seats.
  11. He'll end up with a three game ban and nothing more which is of course no use to us or Ben Arfa whatsoever. With regards to those feeling so down, despite this I'm still feeling very positive for the rest of the season. We went down last time by just one point iirc and this year we look so much better than that team despite having on paper a much weaker squad. If you take the first game out of the equation we could have very easily won all of the other games we've played. Someone else said last week that margin's of failure in the games we've lost have been very small and I think, as long as Hughton realises he needs to do something different when we average to poor teams at home, we'll do ok. Also the Emergance of Tiote looking is buoying me no end!
  12. The worst film I've seen in ages and I thought Diaz was looking rather ropey as well.
  13. That sounds exactly like what we've been after. Looking forward to seeing him on Sunday.
  14. I'd rather have Enrique than Baines any day but tbh I don't think there's much to argue with there (although Saha's fitness would probably suggest Yakubu as a parter for Carroll). Arteta and Cahill would get in most teams in the country tbf.
  15. Aye. Not been there for years since me mate got kicked out for shagging in the bogs.
  16. I'm concerned how much I agree with Stevie Amazed the likes of Ranson, Brock & Scott were mentioned. Tell you some others I think were underrated: Darren Jackson Michael O'Neill Bjorn Kristensen Liam O'Brien Thought Ranson was a really good player for us. Agree Scott was a clown and Brock was far too lightweight (had some really good games though). I think personally I underrated Speed the most and it wasn't til he left that I appreciated his contribution. His attempts at crossfield balls always used to get on me tits. Milner is another that used to wind me up but tbf I still don't think that he was good for us and I'm still not convinced he's much good on the wings. He has proved to be a good player in the middle but the money citeh have paid is scandalous. The money we got for him was still good.
  17. Avatar. I'd not really fancied it when it first came out but wor lass wanted to see the special edition and I'm really glad I did. I suppose it's the absolute epitome of style over substance because if it hadn't been made in 3D it would have just been prety standard sci fi fare. But the 3D is the experience and pisses on anything else I've seen in 3D from such a great height (mainly because it doesn't use it as a gimmick, it's just there). Wonderfull stuff.
  18. Given that stupid statement I wasn't expecting much if anything from this transfer window so as it stands I'm very happy. If Ben Arfa and Tiote turn out to be what they've been talked up as (and we have a reasonable injury time), I can see us getting up towards mid table saftey. Who's going to score goals? Carroll? rely on him all year when he could be going to jail, nolan a shit PL midfeilder? I also notice santa cruz ain't going on loan to lazio.. hughton hughton sign him up! Carroll wont be getting sent down man. He may well get injured though. I'd liked to have seen another foward but remains to be seen if CH is planning on one up front with Hatem supporting. Don't think there's any chance at all of the club allowing him to go to jail. They'll pay whatever the kid needs to make sure that doesn't happen. Other than that, injuries are a bigger concern and yes I would have liked to see us sign a quality striker but unfortunately it isn't that easy to bring one in given the retraints of the current regime. I think it's very likely that we'll play one up front for most games (certainly away from home) so from that respect we have more than enough numbers. The quality is a worry though and I wouldn't be thrilled to see any of Shola, Xisco or Ranger playing that target role on their own and although I still think Lovenkrands can do us a bit of a job, I don't think he can do that role either.

  20. Rumour is he's here for a medical according .com
  21. Can't believe anyone would turn their noses up at him tbh. Have you seen our team?
  22. This is probably true but if we are now agreeing to a deal in which we buy him at the end of the season, those stories might well have had just the effect that Marsielle desired!
  23. I thought the pair of them were Partridge-esque. I was gutted when I saw which two were comentating like. They're both fucking hopeless. Birtles was saying Kadar made a poor header for their first goal. He headed it straight to Ranger who misskicked ffs! Fucking nonce!
  24. Kadar looked very solid again (like what I'm seeing from him) and I was happy with lua lua and the other two young defenders. Vukic and Donaldson struggled to get in the game but I don't know if either of them were playing in their true position. Overall I think we were always comfortable and I'm pretty happy given the team.
  25. Is he the worst comentator ever? Boring as fuck and wrong with nearly everything he says. How the fuck has he still got a job?
