Film/moving picture show you most recently watched
David Kelly replied to Jimbo's topic in General Chat
Thought it was all blatently obvious from very early on. Still thought it was a good film like and the soundtrack was superb. Saw She's Out Of My League last night and enjoyed it. Mindless but pretty funny. -
Heskey was our best player fwiw. I think Joe Cole has to be worth the start next time out though. That just shows how bad we were tbh. You can't be playing strikers who can't score at all though!
-
Tbh we have bigger problems than Green in goal. Those things happen but we should have had enough to go on and win the game regardless. But when you have two wingers that are unable to deliver a decent ball into the box and a clown like Heskey (Carroll would have been a better option than him ffs) up front, we don't have a fucking hope of beating anyone decent. We desperately need to get Joe Cole and Crouch playing for the rest of the tournament.

4321. Think I quite liked it but bits were embarassing like! -
Capdevilla is usually first choice, but they played former Liverpool and current Real Madrid man Arbeloa there in a recent friendly. Well there you have their weak link as niether are owt special. Don't think that will hurt them too much though.

are we going to buy any players this summer?
David Kelly replied to Dr Gloom's topic in Newcastle Forum
Not unless we get a new owner or you're talking about loans or freebies. And loans are unlikely to go through until August. -
I've heard there's no way he'll go down for this like. Originally i'd heard they offered the kid £20k but he wanted £80k. Allegedly it's settled now though.

I can't see past spain. Cassilas, Puyol, Xavi, Fabregas, Iniesta, Torres and David Villa are all at least in the top ten in the world for their position and then you have the likes Sergio Ramos, Pique, Xavi Alonso and David Silva who are all brilliant too. I don't really see a weak link in their team (although I'm not sure who they have at left back) and I think the fact that they are the European champions will work in their favour. I think we could win it but we have too many problems. We don't a definitive number one keeper, Ferdinand and Terry have been struggling with fitness and form all season, Johnson can't defend, we've never managed to sucessfully use Lampard and Gerrard to their full ability together, Lennon and Wright Phillips aren't good enough on the right (consistantly at least) and we are missing the variation (and class) that Beckham would have provided and we only have one top class striker. If everything goes right we could win but I think other teams (Spain, Brazil, Holland & Argentina) have the players in reserve to cope with any problems they might have. I do think that we have the best manager by quite a distance like and hopfully he will be the deciding factor!

Fucking ledgend. RIP

Yet still probably the best we could expect!

Sounds a lot classier than my trip to Benidorm with the lads. But after years of going away with the ex, a week on piss in the sun with the lads should be just the job

Future Island - In Evening Air. Tis ok. Listened to Wolf Parade's new one earlier and first impression is that it's much better than the last one.

Maybe I was just young and naive but I never once considered the kids colour. It seemed a massive amount to spend at the time on someone I'd never heard of and I remember for the first few matches he would seem to miss a load of chances before he would get his inevitable goal. When I first started going to games in the 80's I'm pretty sure the completely useless Tony Cunningham was our only black player who played on any sort of regular basis and I can't really ever remember him getting any abuse (certainly not on any large scale basis). I do have a vague memory of bananas being thrown at opposition player on the odd occasision (though nothing compared to the mars bars thrown at Gazza on his return) but I don't think we've ever had a massive problem here compared to other clubs. Maybe it's because we don't have a particularly large black community here and as such the fuckwits weren't wound up here like they were elsewhere. Or maybe I was just too young to understand!

We scored a few good goals there actually. Some ropey keeping by the other teams like!

Florence and the Machine. Quite surprised I'm quite enjoying this.

Johnson MOM seriously? He has no defensive positional sense at all!

As usual. Yawn!

Was one of the last days out that I had with the wife in this country before we split. At least the knowledge that I'm shot of her makes up for the pain of relegation!

Not one sane fan could be happy that we went down. As other have said it has set us way back behind a number of (mediocre) clubs, put us further into debt and now we apparently have no money to try and bridge the gap. That said I did enjoy a season of winning games home and away even though the football was far from scintilating (at least until we got the two wingers playing with Gutherie in the middle) and most of the teams seemed embarassingly inferior (at home at least).

I think with our current options Carrol and Lovenkrands are our starting strikers with Nolan as likely as strola to be played with Carrol. I agree with whoever said that we now have decent players playing for the team as oppose to better players who couldn't be arsed last time around. TBH I would Carrol over the way Owen or Viduka were playing for us and in time he played for us in the premiership Lovenkrands looked more dangerous that Martins was. Coloccini has his confidence back which could well make as good a showing as Bassong did. So in those terms I don't think we really are much weaker than the squad that went down and but should have been good enough to stay up. I still think that we do need a new rightback, a pacy central midfielder who can use the ball and a pacy striker. That would be enough to virtually guarantee survival and give us a platform to push further up towards the top ten. I don't expect we'll get these players though.

I quite liked it. Crowe's accent is fucking horrendous but once you get past that it's a pretty decent film. I liked that they came at it from a different angle and pretty much relegated the Maid Marion love story to the background. It's much more of an attempt at a sort of historical epic than the robin hood romps of the past but you really can't keep making the same thing over and over again and tbh you're extremely unlikely to ever better the Erol Flynn version anyway. It is a bit slow like.

In the calm, light of day 24 hours later, is it really...
David Kelly replied to accadacca's topic in Newcastle Forum
Yes it is. We have a weaker (if better spirited(at least before this work of genius)) squad than the one which went down and you yourself are saying that the other teams in the premier league are stronger. We may be able to bring in loan signings but I'm not convinced they'd be any better than those that we had this season (Harewood, Zurab, Hall!) ie not of premiership standard. Any better loan signings from abroad or whatever will, it seems, come a price to high for us. Any decent free transfers will have the option of signing for teams that will be able augment any free signings with regular transfers which will give them better chances of staying up or pushing for Europe so our chances of signing them are slim too. Add to this the likelyhood that our better players must now be wondering why they bothered staying and trying to get us promoted, which will only knock morale and probably lead to more of them leaving. So yes it is that fucking depressing a picture. -
If he beleives that then he should be replacing him. It would make no sense at all to tie his hands behind his back and make the job more difficult for him. The club will able to attract players without much problem if make moves for them. But shite like this will definitely turn players (our own included) off.
-
That's on the basis of the current squad we have. After reading this pile of shite can you seriously imagine any of our better players are going to want to stay? The ones who decided to stay and fight this season will just wonder why they ever bothered. And it's going to be a fantastic selling point to players who we are trying to negotiate new contracts with! I live in hope that HF's alternative reading is correct but I don't expect it will be
