  1. My old man said we might as well leave now after they got the pen because we would get stuffed (which was especially hard to take as we'd fancied us for a win) but I'm certainly glad we didn't because it was a really gutsy performance after that. And we never really struggled with their attack at all. It's just a shame we couldn't get the ball to stick up front by the end because a win would have been massive for us.
  2. They're all shite but Riley is weak as piss. Look at the fucker how can you expect a professional athlete to have respect for someone who looks like that?
  3. It was a bit more than a faint touch, he fucking kicked it Shola got less of a touch for his fucking goal.
  4. Against a tricky customer like SWP, I'd rather Bassong to Enrique as he's faster and stronger. He doesn't offer a lot going forward but he's been solid in defence, which is obviously very important. Bassong is never as quick as Enrique I would have thought Bassong was the quicker of the two like.
  5. Not really considering he trotted about aimlessly for the 10 minutes he was on not putting any pressure whatsoever on the defenders and allowing them to release passes into midfield with ease. When you're down to 10 men with your backs against the wall you need your attackers to work their arse off as they are the first line of defence in an adverse situation. Carroll was utterly hopeless. Being only 19 as well he should be a bundle of energy. He plodded around like a 40 year old. Like to see you do any better tbh Haha what an utterly bollocks argument . Come back when you have a semblance of a clue, eh? The kid had one bad game and your going on like its the end of the world or something. Ameobi has been at the club for 8 years and hes been getting abuse from all Newcastle fans, Suddenly he has a good game compared to Carroll and you feel the need to go and let your shit out on Carroll. I just wonder who you would have directed your shit at if Carroll hadn't actually got on for the 10 mins he did. There really isn't any defending Carrol on this one. The kid is a young lad who should be more than capeable of running around the pitch for ten minutes and making it a bit difficult for the opposition. I'm unfit as fuck but I think I could manage that for that amount of time. No one is suggesting he should have been able to beat three defenders and lash it in with is wrong foot but we do expect him to look interested and like a professional athlete and he managed neither of those!
  6. Apparently Stiles said he couldn't reveiw it until this afternoon as he was at a ref's conference this morning. How fucking long does it take? All he has to do is stick SSN on for five minutes before he goes to bed and he can clearly see it. Fucktard.
  7. I was just thinking that, if it had been Terry, they would, it probably wouldn't have been a penalty or a red and if it were it would be rescinded. Well Terry could rugby tackle him and it would be rescinded! The fact is Beye made a great tackle to get the ball when you see it in slow mo and TV and they should rescind it so we arent punished further after the match, and they dont even have to slam Styles for it because to be honest at full speed i said pen straight away at the match, and to Styles it would look like a certain pen. I'd have wanted a pen for it if it was us and even seeing it wasn't one, you'd still be thinking 99/100 a ref would have given it without benefit of TV replays. The linesman should maybe have seen more and spoke up, but i think it was something that sadly would look all day like a pen at full pace and as he was last man would also be a red card. But they should do the decent thing and rescind the card ad he got the ball, and no amount of crap from Poll can change that. It didn't look like a pen at full speed to me. It looked exactly the same as it looked on the replay, maybe my view was better but if that's the case then the linesman should have been even better than mine as he was much closer and nearer to being in line.
  8. Been impressed with him since he playing over in Mallorca. The only problem is that with him not being a natural fullback, he doesn't offer a great deal going forward and as such I would rather see Enrique play (at home or against weaker teams at least). Fair play to the lad though he's doing fantastically well given the circumstances and I fully conceed that he looks a very good find from our scouting setup.
  9. I'd add it to every other minute I've seen him play - no potential or promise for me. He's only 19. The first few times he came on as sub that I recall he showed some promise. He looked to be able to hold up the ball, and he's got a bit of power in his shots. Shame he's got a bit of an ego on him, but again, that could just be his age showing. Never understood what anyone has ever saw in him tbh. Last night he looked exactly what he has always looked like to me, like he can't run, isn't much use in the air despite his height and no touch. While I think the tone of Sima's original post was a bit harsh, I think it's bourne out of Carroll not looking like he gave a fuck and when you consider the effort Shola put in after some of the stick he's had that just simply isn't acceptable.
  10. That's the thing that pisses me off, if he didn't get a clear enough view of the tackle then he shouldn't be making a match changing decision. No, but he saw two players go for the ball, the ball change direction slightly (not knowing who touched it), and the defender clean out the attacker, so I can see how if you have to make an instant decision on that then the decision is penalty. His position was shocking but he can't take a free pass on the decision just cos he's out of position imo. For me (going only from what I saw at half time) Stiles wasn't in a position to see what happened other than the ball change direction after the challange so he shouldn't have made the decision. As you say being in a poor position doesn't give him a free pass. Mind you it's the linesman who wants really fucking because he was surely in a better position to see and should have made it known to Stiles what really happened. Stiles was shite all night anyway like (as is his norm), he should have booked the citeh defender minutes earlier when he cynically brought Martins downs as he was surging into the box but I don't expect anything better from him and I expect he will find a way to justify the sending off. What should really happen is the FA taking action against him for incompetence. As for Poll he can fuck off. Yes you can win the ball and still foul someone (Dawson proved that on Sunday) but if you go about outlawing tackles like Beye's we might as well all just give it up now.
  11. Charlize Theron in that outfit was why. Aye good point.
  12. It's all if's and but's because none of us really know the terms of his contract or what he was really promised in terms of control. I think it's clear though given his own silence on the matter that there are legal wranglings going on. Hopefully though before this gets off the ground (if any of it is indeed true) the club will be sold and he will be re installed because I think that would be the best for all concerned.
  13. I'd probably go with the same as Alex and I agree about Bassong. Looks a better prospect than Taylor but isn't better than him at the moment. Definitely more of a centreback than a fullback (but he's done pretty well there defensively at least). Reminds me of Distan when he was here (am I rascist for saying that?). Anyway you I at it though the realisation is really hitting home to me that we have a much weaker team than I thought.
  14. I once travelled to Sheffield to see Def Leppard (supported by Terrorvision, Ugly Kid Joe and Thunder) and went to see Bryan Adams at Gateshead Stadium.
  15. Fully agree with Baggio on this one. It does come accross as a protest group at the minute and given that the protests appear to have been heard, continuing in that vein seems more than a little redundant. What we need is communication with the club and continued attack on the current powers is never going to achieve that.
  16. Don't think it will have had him incredibly concerned but I did think it was pathetic. Booing a player for dropping a bollock is absolutely pathetic. Much the same as the stick Beckham got after getting sent off against Argentina.
  17. I booed Parker that time he bottled the challenge and then had a go at the crowed who were understandibly pissed at him. With regards to booing at full time I think it's totally justified if the team have lacked the effort.
  18. Crossfire - Good Film Noir with Robert Young and Robert Ryan but the under used Robert Mitchum steels every scene he's in. Battleship Potemkin - Best silent movie I've seen so far. Excellent use of music and that Odessa steps scene is a fantastic achievement. Croupier - Excellent. Didn't really know what to expect from it but I thoroughly enjoyed it and didn't see the twists coming at all. Alex Kingston has got class body too. The Life & Death Of Colonel Blimp. Classic. Roger Livsey's preformance is amazing.
  19. When was Guttierez thought of as one of the best wingers in La Liga? When he signed there was a few people who come out and said that. Gerry Armstrong is one I can remember but I'm sure there was a few more too. Just because he's not a massive name like Messi doesn't mean he wasn't highly thought of. Let's face it, most people can't name a single player from any Spanish team outside of Barca, Real/Athletico Madrid, Valencia, Deportivo or Villareal but it's not realistic to think that in a league of the standard of la liga that they are the only teams with any decent players! And like I said he's a current international in one of the best teams in the world (as an attacking player too which makes it all the more impressive when you think of the other players who fall into that category) so it doesn't take a genius to spot him. So it's gone from anyone with a decent knowledge of Spanish football to a few people including Gerry Armstrong. He'd only managed one cap for Argentina before he came here hadn't he? So that doesn't really mean much, we've seen in the past with England how many players pick up to odd cap here and there. Another point though is if he was one of the best wingers in Spain then why did he come here when he would have had the choice of clubs if he was so highly rated and out of contract since he'd bought it out? Or are you going to give credit to Jimenez for convincing one of the best wingers in Spain to come here on what is basically a free transfer? I said that a few people including Gerry Armstrong came out and said he was one of the best wingers, I've never gone back on saying that anyone with a decent knowledge of spanish football should have known about him. But do you expect everyone who knows about la liga to be quoted in the press? The fact is that given his ties with Spanish football on Sky, Armstrong is one of the people most associated with having a knowlege of the league and as such he was one of the people asked for an opinion. I don't think they bothered asking everyone. And so what if he'd only had the one cap at that point? If you gave me a list of the Argentine squad with their respective clubs I could very quickly come up with a list of players worth having a look at (ie all the ones who weren't at massive clubs so we might be able to attract). Fucking hell, it's not as if he's unearthed some wonderkid playing in the forth division in Nepal is it. And yes plenty of players get one cap for even the top countries and don't turn out to be anything worth while but that's not the point. The point is that it's an easy place find players to scout, I'm not saying that you don't then have to actually go and watch them play and see something in them. For christ sake, I'd be seriously concerned if we were signing players without watching them at all. As for how we got him to sign or whether there were other clubs after him, tbh I really don't know (well we do know Portsmouth were interested) but I'm willing conceed that he might have done a good job convincing him to come but we've never really had that many problems on that score have we. I could name a long list of highly rated/sought after players that were convinced to come here in the past for one reason or another (money mainly) without any work from Jiminez. And most daming of all is the state of the squad at the minute. Try and convince anyone that it's strong and they will just laugh at you. Was he not the guy in charge of signing players? Any way you look at it we didn't get in the number of players that we needed in the window so he failled in his very first task. Who are these other people? Because it seems to me you're going off what Armstrong said like it's gospel, now I follow Spanish football and the only time I remember seeing him is when he pulled his mask out because things like that stick in your head and a quick look through threads on here and Newcastle-Online will say hardly anyone had noticed him as a player and a few thought he couldn't be that good if he was buying his contract out to come to us, when it turns out that he looks a quality player people start making noises about how he was always top quality and such an obvious player, a load of shite basically. As for our squad, I agree we didn't get all of the players we need but then I didn't expect us to go out and sign 11 new players in one window, that's why it's a building job rather than an instant fix, I can't wait to see if Keegan does come back just for the reactions of people when he doesn't fill every position we need to in one window, I've got the feeling it will be slightly different to how it is now. Believe what you want but there was more than one person who said Guttierez was a top player and I'm pretty sure there wasn't a single negative coment about him. The fact that no one on here or Online knew anything about him means absolutely nothing. None of us are scouts and let's face it, the only games Sky show are the ones involving Real, Barca, Valencia or Villareal. Mallorca never get a look in on their own merit and they had the leagues top scorer last season and there would be next no one on these boards that would have heard of him (or even name him now) either. And people said he mustn't be any good because he bought out his contract? Fucking hell, well if a load of bairns on Newcastle Online think that it must be true. Don't get me wrong I'm not suggesting he was one of the leading lights of la liga but it certainly appears that he had a strong season and was one of the better players outside the top four and as such you would expect a Spanish scout (which is what the Jiminez/Vetre deal seeams to be) to be easily aware of him just as you would expect a scout specialising in England to be of the better players playing outside of this countries top four. Anyway whatever you think of how well Jonas did in la liga I still say finding a player from that league isn't a special achievement. Whoever the scouts were who found Bernard or N'Zogbia achieved something, finding players who had hardly ever played and who could cut it in the premier league is a lot more impressive than finding an Argentine international that can play. And of course it's difficult finding a whole new team in one window (something that wasn't really required but hey let's not let facts get in the way of a good argument) but when your manager is saying all along that you need to sign a leftback as a priority you would think that would be the one position you could manage. As it is we struggled to fill any of the positions we really needed (fullbacks, an attacking central midfielder/playmaker, cover/replacement for Viduka) with only a central defender arriving. Face facts the new regime failled. If they hadn't pissed Keegan off we'd not be in as bad a position because we would still have a manager that the players believed in and who could get them playing. But we would still be struggling because of the failures to provide a squad capable of covering injuries of anyone but the keeper.

  22. It is the most vile thing I've ever seen. I'm not a sickly person at all but I reaching when I watched it. Fuck knows what kind of person would enjoy it.
