    Wine tasting

I don't think there is a better way to learn about wine than in form of a well organised tasting. If you can directly compare different quality of wines and vintages then you quite quickly realise the broad range of wine and what it can offer. It should be a good laugh anyway.
  2. Could be worse, we could be linked with signing such fantastic freebies as Philipp Degen...

    Friday!

Cheers, it will be brilliant. We are going by train and knowing us we probably won't make it past the first change...

    Friday!

Don't you mean hoff? Cracked me up did that! It's sort of a stag do for a friend (Irish, Liverpool supporter of course). He'll get a shirt with the Hoff's face and "You'll never puke alone" on it...

    Friday!

Off to Hamburg in a few hours for the weekend!
  6. Probably met Deco while they were at the airport...
  7. Exactly my feeling. Those news reports today are nothing else than the translations from the (very dodgy) Croatian news reports anyway. The Malmaison was mentioned to me, and this was not mentioned in any of the Croatian press reports, yet is reported in the Telegraph. This is for real. Watch this space as a leading Tyneside "hack" would say. Fair enough if it comes true. I definitely wouldn't be against it, but I'll remain very sceptical until I see a picture of Jimbo's TV confirming the transfer. http://www.sportal.hr/vld/sportal/nogomet/...E483727DD8D0B.2 Ask your pal what Maric is babbling on about it. He says something about Gullit being a cunt, and us being the 5th biggest club in England, as well as something about the toon army? Peter Harrison's name is mentioned too It got already roughly translated on N-O from a Croatian bloke: Mamic brothers were in Newcastle the day before yesterday and returned to Zagreb on the same day. They returned with an unfinished task because they couldn't agree on Modric's wages with Peter Harrison, one of the club's managers. Mamic brothers did agree a fee (over 20m apparently), but Newcastle had prepared only 1.2m per year basic wage and Dinamo officials couldn't accept that. Silvio Maric is apparently delighted that Modric could join his former club, and he's quoted saying: "If Keegan has insisted on him, it means there's a red carpet rolled out for Luka in Newcastle. He'll surely be a star and automatically a starter in their team." Reporter then confirms that Gullit had also insisted on bringing Maric when he was in charge here. Maric replies: "Yes, it was an honor and an achievement, because Newcastle are a big club". Big enough for Luka? Rumors say Barca, Chelsea, Real Madrid are all interested? "They are not that big but in England they are amongst the biggest, and richest. They are creating a new team, and will go into the new season with high ambitions. Luka doesn't have to be worried, Newcastle will again be strong and powerful. What's life like in Newcastle? "Bla bla, i had a great time, etc" What about Newcastle supporters? "Best in England! Toon army is incredibly devoted to the club and go on every away games in big numbers (5-6k). It's fascinating, with those kind of supporters you just have to enjoy playing football". Edit: Ok, Santana was quicker.

  10. Herzlichen Glückwunsch. We are going to win da league now.
  11. According to my friend the only credible news sources from Croatia are sportnet.hr and sportske-novosti.hr who rarely print pure fiction as most others (especially sportal.hr and index.hr) and who have been very coy to write anything about Modric in recent weeks. If the rumour has legs these sites are probably to look at.
  12. My Croatian mate basically confirms that the story says Newcastle had sent a private plane to Zagreb for Modric and his agent. He gives the story a credibility of 10% as he says according to the media in Croatia Modric already got sold to Arsenal, Barcelona, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham amongst others. The story appearing in several different Croatian is raising hope for me though...
  13. I've mailed the link to a Croatian friend and also asked him how credible the report is in his opinion.
  14. Croatian newspapers unfortunately are worse than all English tabloids put together when it comes to creative journalism. Try and make your 5000th post a little more positive than your 4999th. I hope this rumour does make a reliable news source soon as he would be a great signing.

  16. Got any hedgehog? Interestingly, a barbecued hedgehog would provide tougher opposition than 95% of the teams in the Oceania confederation. Best way is to put the hedgehog in clay, bake it and then (when it's done) crack open the clay surround. The spines will come away with the clay overcoat. Since when was baking part of the barbecue chefs remit. If I wanted my hedgehog baked i'd fucking well bake it. I suppose people do baked potatoes on barbecues sometimes. For values of "people" including "pasty-faced non-meat-eaters". ??? wtf sort of gay barbecues do you go to? Don't answer that btw. I think the answer lies in Germany.
  17. Nah, supporting users like Puma or Nike are still missing...
  18. What is he doing these days anyway? Is he on gardening leave or something like that?
  19. That's the same in most games now though. Injury time seems to have little to do with anything on the pitch. Well normally there are at least things like goals, substitutions, where the referees are adviced to add time, or prolonged breaks for player treatment that can be taken into consideration. But regardless of what Wykiki says I can't really think of anything in the second half that actually warranted added time. As for Benitez whinging, it isn't just the managers from top clubs who do it, but nearly every manager (Robson for us as well) does moan about the referee if things are not going to plan. So I don't see how you can see it as him losing the plot.
  20. You mean Diego and VDV don't you? Not to forget Lahm as a back up for Beye and competition for Enrique.
  21. Has anoyne mentioned Baines yet? [/mob mentality] I don't give anything on second hand rumours, but I agree, he really is a player we should go for and who I think could get attracted depending on the competition. At least far more realistic than most names who are tediously repeated.
  22. Like I said the level of denial to say that I'm obsessed in a thread this all about "me", which designed and intended to set up the "villian" - there is no other reason to make a thread like this other wise (I'm not obsessed just enjoying being proved SO very right and it's frankly funny and fascinating ) . And yet ignore the level of obsession required for someone to make a thread like this in the first place. Well done, it must take some doing. See, all I did in the beginning was posting a gardening advice. Something I've been doing here for years in various threads that are or turning into total humbug. For example see Leaze's thread about Mick in the Newcastle section. So my participation had little to do with you. Or in fact, if you want, rather than ignoring it was actually acknowledging that it needs some kind of obsession to start this kind of an abortion of a thread in the first place. So by trying to ridicule it I was actually on your side in the beginning. So how this makes me a "usual suspect" is a bit hilarious. Though participating on toontastic regularly does make me a usual suspect to post in a thread. But your need to reply to (and misinterpreting) nearly every single post in this thread because of an alleged mob mentality and as you think that they are highlighting your villain state do make you look very obsessed.
  23. You mean Luz Long? Though if it comes to the iconic status of a photo I'd still rather go for the photo of the winner's ceremony whose irony truely reflects the games of 1936 and the political agenda (especially in 2008).
  24. Boo, fucking boo. I counter with this one. It was widely discussed and had a great impact on English dental care tbh. Edit: Ok, NJS was quicker. Jorman efficiency truely found out in this thread. Auf Wiedersehen.
