  1. Cool, cheers Meenzer. Take it Osborne Road is a decent area in terms of having to rush from the train station then back to St' James? The Metro station is on top of Osborne Road IIRC (or very close). To walk to SJP it's about 20-30 mins (again IIRC).
  2. There are several cheap ones in Jesmond, all in kind of walkable distance. I once stayed at the Bewick Hotel in Gateshead, very cheap, but ok. 5 mins to the Metro.
  3. After only 2 games in charge Keegans Newcastle started a run of scoring in 3 games on the trot. It was the first time in 2 months. Keegans Newcastle kept a clean sheet on his first game in charge. A feat achieved only once in 18 games prior. Michael Owen has scored as many goals in Keegans 6 games as he managed in all 22 games prior. Keegan hasn't lost a game to a team outside the top 7. Manager of the month tbh. Fop will be over the moon with this... ... and probably being the first one after reading this post as well.
  4. Yes, it looks like you are nowadays trying to be gloomy for the sake of it. We are in danger of getting relegated, sure, but we are not relegated yet. So what point do you want to prove in starting this kind of discussion?
  5. Gloom by name, gloom by nature... Feel free to bump this thread after we have been relegated, but I don't see any need to discuss this kind of hypothetical (or indeed hysterical) scenario right now...
  6. With selective enough statistics I can prove I was the first person on the moon, I'm sure. Hic Rhodos, hic salta.

I've had a look at the fixure lists of some other teams. Especially Bolton have pretty difficult games to come up. If we are not able to beat the likes of Fulham etc. at home we deserve to go down anyway. I do have the strange feeling that we will get a decent result against Liverpool next week. With them having to play Inter a couple of days later and their indifferent Premierleague form this might be a good game to pick up confidence for the crunch games in the weeks afterwards.
  8. I guess they were the same that already made the round among Tottenham fans last week: "Eduardo Oooooohh Eduardo Ooooohhh, he had some silky skills, but now he's Heather Mills. Eduardo Oooohhhh"
  9. There weren't much better around apparently. A shame that life isn't as easy as computer games, eh... Some contrive to make it harder being my point. Get you! You can come up with all your repetitive nonsense again. The thing is that the winter market isn't providing a lot. It's not a cliché, it's a fact. Look outside of the Premier League (and there only the big teams) you don't see any significant signings at all. So where does your optimism that the club would have picked up anyone decent come from that would really have lifted the club and not only have added more mediocrity to the existing crap?

  11. I don't argue about Smith. But to expect that Carrol is doing much better than Owen it putting a lot of faith into a youngster who was struggling to make an impact in the Championship... Anyway with the game against Inter being put a week back I just hope that Rafa's rotation policy is doing us a favour. The games afterwards against Birmingham and Fulham will definitely decide the fate.
  12. Because the finishing other the strikers is so clinical? Thankfully all this relegation talk is just hysteria though. © Fop
  13. N'Zogbia on the bench. He was gash in the last couple of games though.
  14. Obesus means fat, doesn't it? I don't know. Was the rest close like? Yes. Porcorum is genitive plural though.
  15. Seems okay to me. But why does the article start repeating itself halfway down ??? Maybe in the hope that certain people get it if they have to read it twice? Repetitio est mater porcorum obesorum.
  16. According to the Journal Keegan came up with the idea to sign Hughton... http://www.journallive.co.uk/nufc/newcastl...61634-20539089/
  17. If they were 5 very good players - i.e. walk into the starting XI and improve it - that would be great and would do me. Too many people expecting too much too soon imo. Exactly. Imho it's not so much the number of players that count, but the type and quality of player. It's quite often that just a single player can transform a whole team. Robson only needed the inspirational signing of two players as well.
  18. As for strikers. I'm just listening to the Stuttgart cup game on the radio. Throwing in a bit of national bias I'd like us to go for Mario Gomez from Stuttgart. 23 goals in the last 24 matches. Quite an amazing record for German football. Even better than Toni's. He's only 22 and been brilliant for two seasons now. Only a matter of time until the big clubs are seriously looking at signing him (Juve already enquired last summer).
  19. Damn, I was looking for a video of my penalty save against bawan. I can't even make it to youtube, that's how crap I am...
  20. I still think that just a couple of players actually are needed to make a big difference. Especially an attacking flair player. So I'd spunk the majority of the money on this position. Preferably Modric. I've seen him twice in the matches against Bremen and Hamburg where you could see him in comparison to Diego and van der Vaart. He'll cost big money (20-25m I guess) but be worth every penny imho. Add to it a composed defensive midfielder with some passing ability (I'd go for Kehl from Dortmund whose contract is running out), an organising central defender and a left back.
