As I already said yesterday, I got slated for being overcritical after the Bristol game. But it is a fact that we are losing far too many points and apart from few games haven't really played well and dominated games enough to win them comfortably. This squad isn't just lacking depth but also class. There is hardly any flair and creativity in it. You won't win many games if you lower yourself to the awful level of football in this league, because the smaller teams will always be up for this and more committed. Get at those teams and beat them in style, because when rather football and skills matter than strengths and graft those teams won't be able to compete.

Stolen from Mick on N-O (and .com)... On this day in history: 1996 Manchester United (h) 5-0 (2-0) Premier League Peacock(12), Ginola(30), Ferdinand(63), Shearer(75), Albert(83) 36,579 Fantastic. Immortalised in the video 'Howay 5-0' released within days. To paraphrase the famous Norwegian commentator, "Alex Ferguson, Zoe Ball, Angus Deyaton, Jimmy Nesbitt, Bobby Charlton, your boys took one hell of a beating." Of course, they still won the League.... It's all Keegan's fault anyway...
-
Really? I am not watching any game. Skyscorecentre have them down on 24.5% of possession...
-
Of course, any team winning at Barca would be sort of a shock.
-
Cuntflaps.

2-1 to the Russians, looks like Tom wasn't the only one underestimating them...
-
They fell off when we drew 2 games at home on the trot against gash teams. Away losses to Notts Forest and Scunthorpe just further consolidate the fact. MAs plan, give the boss a full time contract I got slated for moaning about it, but it was easy to foresee that if we can't really dominate and finish teams off at home we will start to struggle against spurred on teams away...

Hughton for Nobel prize!
-
Hossa!
-
Thing is that they will raise their game because it is against Newcastle, just as any other supposedly inferior team will do. The game should be won, but I fear it won't.

Threats must be something else he's not very good at then. He can publicly drown a pint though.
-
What happened to him? Not been seen for over half a year now...
-
It's more that it's confirmation there is no change on the horizon. Ashley's not even pretending any more. Tbf, I can see him appointing Hughton tomorrow and then selling the club the day afterwards only to get one over Moat (+ Shearer) or whoever is the buyer then. He and Lambiarse are probably already chuckling...
-
Alan Shearer is seething.
-
That's the club off the market then... But hey, he is doing such a good job. Imagine we could also have lost against the likes of QPR and Bristol...
-
Why not? France aren't pulling up any trees, and have lost and drawn to worse sides than Ireland. Still, over two legs I think France will show the necessary amount of quality to scrape through... ...just as Germany didn't have to qualify via the playoffs as you said a couple of weeks ago.
-
Would be funny for Ireland kicking out France. I can't see it happening though. I also hope Bosnia kick out Portugal as I want to see Ronaldo cry again.
-
Was at Hamburg for a trial. Was ok for Dortmund but I think he would be too lightweight for English football.

Everyone feel free to tell me what to post here. I am taking orders.

Im just reading that book about the dutch team. Brilliant Orange I think its called. It was a British coach who put the wheels in motion for total football at Ajax apparently From David Winner? Very good book indeed. -

I wonder where we would be if Shearer hadn't drawn up the plans for preseason training and the upcoming season on which Hughton said he had based his work on expecting Shearer to take over... -

This is what i think will happen Probably cause it's nailed on. Though you believed he wasnt going to sell no matter what...... Not really, I've been saying there are no 'serious' bidders and was even saying it when Lambrusco was LYING about the two 100m bids. I don't consider Moat a serious bidder either and he will only get the club if he does deals with Ashley to the detriment of the future of the club regarding future earnings. You on the other hand have been saying the deal will be done almost every Friday for 2 months now. Your pessimism makes me optimistic. I don't know what your grief is with Moat. His interest is reported by what I consider as rather credible sources (Culkin, Bird). His level of financial ability and commitment may be unknown, but I don't see the the persian prince riding into town on a white horse throwing money around. The club has been for sell for over a year now and even though the asking price has dropped significantly the interest remains scarce. So I'd rather take Moat with hopefully good intentions and ideas instead of the fuckwit of Ashley who isn't even clever enough to protect his own investment with his money. Moat is too close to Ashley and my main worry is he will do a deal which will hamstrung the club financially even if we get promoted. So it is the prince with his white horse then. I guess he is right at the top of the queue of billionaires waiting to invest into the club... Well, the people who eventually bought Man City were in 'talks' with MA to buy us but were put off by the 400m price tag. So, yes I'd rather wait it out for a buyer who won't cripple our finances. They don't grow on trees though, do they? Maybe it was a missed chance back then (if it was really the case). But since then the club was really for sale and nobody turned up bar Nigerian uncles and fake Malaysians. If this super rich billionaire turns up in future I don't think someone like Moat will stand in his way - especially if he is struggling financially himself. The club has to get out of this current limbo as soon as possible. People who talk about promotion doubling the value of the club are taking things for granted. Looking at how Ashley is doing things there are more chances of the already mediocre squad getting even more dismantled during the next transfer window than getting strengthened. It takes us fucking weeks to even agree the structures for loan signings. The asking price after promotion probably will become even more ridiculous again after promotion as well. And that's without Ashley likely to ask for getting his loan back. Between the choice of a financially impotent Moat and a generally incompetent Ashley I know who I want. -
