and that does my head in. The system is clearly fucked if that can happen.

It does irk me somewhat when people back a party 100%. I voted Tory, I stand by that decision and I agree with many things they are doing, but don't expect me to agree with everything. Much like I dont think everything labour did as wrong. Just A lot of it. Same as someone earlier saying they voted Lib Dem as the family always have. Thats something else I just don't get. It a bit of sheep mentality. My Dad is like that, always voted labour and always will. As for the debate (some what of one) above. I don't really know that much about how the NHS works internally. However, my wife and a couple of family friends work or have worked for the NHS. The biggest complaint my wife had when she was there was that Doctors would push elderly out of hospital and back home much sooner than they should have been. This was because they were under pressure to meet targets for turning people around and keep them out of hospital. My wife was an OT and she basically assessed someone and their ability to live safely in their own home. Many times they went against their recommendations only to see the person back in hospital due to a fall in the home or something. Point basically that there was too much red tape, admin & management taking up their budget rather than being spent where it was needed. This forms my overall view of the NHS. As for doctors being able to write a perscription (might as well say cheque) for any drug. Thats a pipe dream I'd think, no matter who says it.

Aye it's a brilliant move, 'don't worry guys, we're not increasing NI contributions, but we are going to increase the price of most of what you buy by 2.1%', cheers Gideon. 2.1% rise says it all really. Sorry, have you got a more accurate figure? Think about what I said. 20 - 17.5 = 2.1 Oh dear, let me explain it to you in terms you might understand. If you buy £100 of sweets exc. VAT at 17.5% you pay £117.50 Now, if you buy £100 of sweets exc. VAT under the Tories you pay £120 Now, be a good lad and tell me by how much has the price of your sweeties increased? 2.5% ...and how much did you say? I give up. You pay £2.50 more / the £120 you pay is 2.083% increase, or 2.1% as said. If it was a 2.5% increase over the £117.50 you were spending that would be £120.44 Fwiw I think its a good idea. I thought labours idea of reducing the VAT to 15% was a fucking stupid idea. What good did that do other than create an even bigger hole in the governments budget? Who actually went out and thought "oh my, I can save a couple of quid on that £100 purchase so I'll buy it now". Same as this increase, you'll hardly notice it but in the grand scheme it makes a massive difference to the pot. What isn't mentioned is the cost to business of changing over. I'm telling you it's a right pain in the arse. edit: Got my holes mixed up

Nice motor and kept it until the lease ran out) 2010 - Honda Accord 2.2CTDi (Full of gadgets and fairly reliable. good mph over previous but has a few annoyances, esp with the hands free and bluetooth) After the lease ran out on the ML I started driving the Honda which was an unused co car. Not that keen on it and I've got my eye on a Volve C60 maybe back end of this year.

Bill Hicks or Dennis O'Leary? what happened to O'Leary?....drink or drugs? Hicks died so he ran out of material. I could pull up many Hicks quotes, but this is one of my favourites (speaking after the Letterman censorship): "We live in the U.S.A., the United States of Advertising, and there is freedom of speech to the highest bidder." For those who like Bill Hicks, Wed 1.50am ComedyCentralX on Sky

There's no way West Denton is anywhere near as bad as anywhere in South Tyneside, especially these days. Though its not quite equal comparing WD to the whole of ST. ST has some real shit holes, but also some ok area's. West Denton is a lot worse now than it was in the early 80's. It went down hill as the council started moving "toublesome" families there from other area's. Though for me, its was always leagues better than Benwell. The new shops at West Denton are pretty smart actually. Its prob on par with Blakelaw etc. But the nicer area's around there are when you head up to Chapel Park & St Johns etc. Westerhope is ok, typical pit housing. Even NBH is tarted up these days with the new housing estates. Benwell is the worst of the lot like by a mile. I still drive through now and again as I like to look back at places Ive lived. My old house isnt there anymore (off pendower way), it doesnt look that different around there otherwise. Until you get further along towards the church etc and you notice the traffic calming and security camera's etc. I can't argue with Benwell being horrific, but West Denton is nice for people who can only afford to live in council houses, I think it's better now than the 80's personally. I'm at West Denton quite a bit, especially on Sunday mornings, what they've done to the pool, library and shops is fantastic. Tbf my memory is a bit Jaded about WD. When you think I moved there in 1979 from Benwell, you can see why I maybe think it was nicer back then. But as I grew up and got older I thought it went downhill. But yeah I agree, the area around the shops looks nothing like it used to. I used to drink in the Dyke and the club so you can imagine how I remember the place. Only pass through now to see my Dad who lives in the H roads (Not from from Linhope Road).

Aye. I think it's more to do with how hydrated you are tbh. Try and manage it by always weighing yourself first thing in the morning before food and drink and after a dump. Or just weigh yourself less often. and weigh yourself at the same time of the day. Your weight fluctuates a fair bit over the course of the day naturally.

We parked in the multi story there and asked the first couple for directions. I'm not kidding, I could not understand a word the auld wife said. She had about 3 teeth and more nicotine stains than Alex Higgins.

I believe that it should end right here. Families got what they wanted, but thats not it over and i know more will come. Some families will want more. Did you want the soldiers named and individually brought to "justice"? Upon further investigation most of these "soldiers" are 60+ and the men who gave the orders are probably dead. So no. Well of course they are, given it was like 38 years ago. What did you expect? 30 year olds??

Tell you what like, I had to go around the north east surveying a chain of shops. The single worst place as in being a dump and the state of the general people, by a country mile was Stockton. As for up here. I drive around a load of places and I think like most, inner city area's area the worst. I was brought up in Benwell until I was 7 where I then moved to West Denton (also lived Forest Hall and Newbiggin Hall). So I've seen my fair share of dumps. But, I've also worked in Sunderland and I'd struggle to see worse than Pennywell or Hendon. South Tyneside is a million miles apart from any of these places.

So you're now idolising two former leaders of the IRA? Hypocritical and shuddering. That was a joke you cock. You're really sensitive about this. I have a right to be. How's that then, Vuvu? Because it's my city. Innocent people from my city being murdered by nothing more than scum. Friends of my Da, Granda etc. murdered for nothing. Do you hold that remark to the British Army in general, or just those present on the day? Or perhaps those present and those who gave the orders? Those who gave the orders along with those who shot. Nothing against them in general. Any hate towards the Army in this thread would be relating to the men/people who gave orders that day. Which is fair enough and most (should) have little against that. But then, while I have the deepest sympathy with those effected by the shootings. You cannot help but draw comparisons to the hundreds murdered in the conflict over the years on both sides. Hundreds off innocents, just like this day, who have become another number. There are numerous instances where thorough investigation should have been carried out. But is it worth it? Talk of prosecuting those involved is an interesting thought. Afterall, we prosecute German soldiers involved with death camps do we not? However, where does it end? Should we then not dig up all the files of Shankill, Birmingham, Enniskillen, Omagh and so on and so on. Should these also not be brought to justice? In fact, why not just rip up the Good Friday agreement, drag all those released back behind bars? Where do you think it should end?
