You know, stepping back I think I'm perhaps being harsh on the current squad. While I wont afford MA any pats on the back and I'm hardly skipping down the street in joy, I think Chris Houghton deserves a lot of credit for the way he has went about things. Evenn under JFK the state of the club was embarrassing with his crude outbursts. You can't critisise the players or management for the league being crap. all you can do is play who is put in front of you and I think they have went about that in a very professional manner. I am pleased that the club may have regained some of its credibility. Something we're not under CH is a laughing stock. This, is something I hope we retain moving forward. Forget the "success" of the past, this is the here and now and CH and the squad at the very least deserve out support. I will add, I do expect MA to invest in the summer, but I'm not holding my breath. Sensible signings and strengthening of the squad is in order. I do think a DOF would be useful, but not one to interfere with CH but support and guide him, something he can't get from DL.

If anything, this season has shown me just how big the gulf betwen the two leagues is. Come on, Shola looks top drawer in this league? We need to remember just how average alot of our players are and not get al misty eyed. I do think our current squad could stay up in the prem, but would be a struggle. A decent CF is a must. Oh, and Mike wont sell. Well he will have a price in his head, I think its well above what anyone will pay at the moment.

The stick Harper is coming in for is well unjust imo. Sure he's made some errors but in large we have been spoiled by the consistency of Given (who was far from perfect but a top keeper, one of the top 3 in the country imo). Krul has looked decent when I've seen him (not much) but at the moment I dont think Id change a thing. Though Id like to see more of Krul. As for Harper being over the hill, what bollocks. Keepers in general have a later peak. I dont see Harper improving but Id certainly not be writing him off. Kneejerk after a couple of mistakes imo. Not 5 mins since people were saying he should be in the England side.
