Kneebola I believe it's called. Source: also not a medical man.

He's tried for it before but we've not capitalised on strong starts by scoring goals and he had to keep players out there longer than he wanted. Now we have a stronger and deeper squad with the likes of Murphy, Ramsey, Hall, Thiaw, Woltemade and Miley on the bench we can make changes just about anywhere. For me it would be trying to give our midfield three a shorter stint, as well as two of four from Murphy for Elanga, Hall for Trippier, Thiaw for Schär or Woltemade for Wissa. The best possible outcome in this game is that we get some early goals and then dominate with the ball so that we can pick and choose the subs based off blooding new and returning players instead of preserving legs.

Generic small time football blather thread FOREVER

One of his favourites no doubt. -
Unfortunately the net effect of this action still managed to tarnish our reputation as it gave the appearance that we would certainly have conducted inflated internal sponsorship.

Interesting call, early days of course but it appears that Ramsey is a natural fit to our style of play more than Barnes is. Barnes for me, with his current play in most games will fit more as a super sub for us.

Brilliant that Burn, Gordon, Livramento are all in the England squad. If Lewis Hall didn't suffer the injury last season he too would have been there. Super happy for Anderson also. At the end of the day he'd not have got anywhere near the amount of game time if he was still with us, so going to Forest has helped his development immensely. I'm still hopeful that he will return to us in a few years time and play out his career here.

If I was Konate I'd stay, not many clubs in the world where you can shove an attacker who is through on goal with two hands and not even concede a free-kick.
-
Same with Lewis Hall.

Agree, don't think he was missing shots intentionally or anything quite that sinister, just that he didn't have any desire to qualify and so without the meaningful motivation his level dropped.
-
Good to have him. As much as he's far from a finished product he can score and his energy, size and speed give us something different.
-
It's really a replacement option for Joelinton that brings that physicality. Miley has the size but not the athleticism or aggression. I do still have very high hopes for him though, he has composure beyond his years and is a good passer. I feel that Ramsey is going to be a very good signing. He slotted in so quickly which is a sign of how adaptive and mature he is as a player.

Have to also factor in PSR, it's not like we're just free to increase wages for players especially those with 4 years left on their existing contract. With what we know now I don't think it would have made any difference, he was looking for any excuse.
-
Are you implying that this is wholly down to Isak not being given an improved contract last season?
-
Odds are he would have played again but continued to not give a fuck about us and just be biding his time trying not to get injured until the next window. Howe woulld have done everything within his power to get him to play but if there was not 100% commitment he won't have relied on him. All the while Isak would be providing a huge distraction for everyone at the club. This is the best outcome from a shitty situation, and in January we're well positioned to bolster the squad in any areas that the season reveals us to be lacking in. There was no capitulation just an acceptance that for the overall state of the club this was the only way forward, the late nature was down to us requiring a striker coming in first. We've sold the third most expensive player in football history four years after staring down the barrel of a third Mike Ashley relegation. This club is so much bigger than this rat, this will solidify our team and I'm excited to see how Wissa can continue to score goals and how Woltemade can bring his unique style into our team, providing us a new attacking dimension. All of our other first team signings bring excitement as well.

You have to look at it collectively; it's Wissa and Woltemade replacing Wilson and Isak. Quite a different partnership, though Wilson and Isak were rarely played together. I do think we wanted to also bring in another striker (so we have 3 options) so it is somewhat a failing there. This is offset by the good business we've done elsewhere. Getting back to your point we were trying to wrap up Wissa from the start of the window but Brentford's indication to the player and his agent were somewhat different to their true intentions and they held on for as long as they could to get as much as they could for him. Without knowing all of the details you can't be too scathing and ultimately I don't think it changes the overall outcome except for how much we spent on him and how early we could start our season proper. Certainly Liverpool have shown no respect at all, and the complicit media played their part too. We've had our hand forced but realistically we didn't have any other play to make that wouldn't have been a huge distraction to Howe and the team and that financially wouldn't have left us much worse off. So whilst we have been fucked over by a disloyal rat and a bunch of immoral cheats we're finally out the other side and can start our season. Taking into account the removal of his loyalty bonus I think the fee is fair enough when you consider his injury record and his streaky form. Thankfully there's also open acknowledgement that Isak handled the situation incredibly poorly and his actions won't be forgotten. He's effectively written himself out of our history and turned thousands upon thousands of supporters into enemies.

Or Sean Longstaff.
