  1. City have basically toyed with a very good Napoli, who have definetly had their moments,. City are just playing keep ball at the moment 2-3. Strangely 2 of city's goals were headers from corners...they just look so fit and keen to keep passing and moving late on in games.
  2. No real regrets....although my mind quite often wanders to the day when my English teacher (also careers/FE advisor for our year) asked me for a word; I'd handed in a couple of essays the week before and she'd marked them..."Robert your work is consistently excellent, I really do advise you to sit Higher English and apply to Edinburgh University, do Eng. Lit. etc etc..." I got an A for my O Grade so it was a distinct possibility, but my only ambition was to earn enough money to got to St James every other week to watch Pedro and Gazza. Which is what I did. I've had a fuckin great life tbh, nothing properly bad has ever happened, but I do wonder what 3 years of state sponsored shagging and drinking at an institution of international renown in the free and easy mid-late 80s would've been like, and how things would've turned out career wise...
  3. He's not resigned just for trying his luck with Julia Hartley Brewer....more to come? Its fairly clear to see the way Westminster works... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-politics-41834699/pmqs-lisa-nandy-warned-theresa-may-about-whips
  4. No one from safc is speaking to the press tonight....if he goes it'll be a shame, but where they'd find someone decent enough to keep them up and would actually even consider taking the job fuck knows
  5. This is a good point....why isnt anybody asking Farage these questions?? https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2017/oct/28/trump-assange-bannon-farage-bound-together-in-unholy-alliance

  7. Were about as good as anyone else in this division outside the 5/6 usual suspects. I frankly dont know what people think theyre watching when they see Burnley, west brom, southampton, stoke etc etc. Were no better and no worse on a fraction of what theyve spent in the last 5 years. Our work ethic will just about keep us up and thats it. Am complelty in board with it because of Rafa and id say that for me its obvious hes the only thing thats moved the club forward and kept us from the start of the road that the mackems are now 3/4 down. To the whingers id say have some fuckin patience for fucks sakes and stop trying to think we can run before we can walk
  8. What did you make of similar tiny budget Burnley?
  9. I often think having Ashley as owner renders most criticisms of individual Newcastle players pretty fuckin irrelevant tbh

  11. Thought Perez was fouled/mugged in the build up there
  12. He reminds me a bit of peak era Rob Lee. He was a midfielder
  13. I take it your going this time? Got a ticket in our bit?...
  14. The current Mrs PL is making noises about Ibiza for next year, anyone been to the non "clubby" bits? Any recommendations for quiet areas/resorts? Muchos grassland pour flavour etc etc...
  15. There's some fuckin whoppers in the media and on twitter pretending that they know what's going on. Attention seeking click baiting cunts every single one of them. Am saying fuck all till something's been agreed and confirmation of a sale has been made. Then am going to make a judgement on the source of the money. People almost universally praise what's gone on at Man City but I've always thought I wouldn't really want it to happen here. I'm also complelty open to my opinions and principles being bought and sold down the river by winning a lot more premier league football matches than we have done in the past 15 years or so
  16. Marc Almond last night was fuckin insane, it was like being at some sort of vaudevillian cult meeting. All seated at the start by half way through there was 200 people in front of the stage, expressing what i can only describe as their devotion to the cult leader. He had a string quintet, 2 brass and four backing singers including a frankly unbeleivebly brilliant mezzo soprano called Kelly doing the high notes like on this live: Marc also sang Torch, which is just about the best song ever written. His voice is beyond beleif for someone getting on for 60, if you get a chance to see him do it
  17. The Katie Hopkins of Toontastic Was it just some pissed up fucker who hadn't been paid?
  18. London 9 Liverpool 3 for today Also this @ Wembley which is probably in the top 5 attendances for a league game in Britain since professional football has existed: 80,827
  19. lost one in 7, that's canny as fuck looking at how much we spent this summer
  20. He's got a book coming out, interesting interview in the mail today.. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-5002144/Graeme-Souness-won-t-football.html With hindsight, he was never cut out for another club after he took ill at Liverpool. The game was changing at that point and being the person he was he was never cut out for premier league man management. To me a lot in this interview hints at that. Huge respect for him as a player, only a yard of pace short of being world class. One of my old mans favourites, "Souness was as good as Dave Mckay"; he still bangs on about him now, 82 years old, still furious at Souness's treatment at the World Cup in Argentina in 1978 Souness lives here in Poole now, and a couple of friends have met him socially and can't speak highly enough of him, a very nice guy by all accounts. All apart from the teacher he left in an agonising crumpled heap at his kids schools annual "staff v parents" game....apparently the ex Scotland captain took exception to being nutmegged, he was heard to utter " you don't nurmegg someone with three European cup winners medals pal "
  21. Richard Tait is Motherwell's left back and his old man Titch is from the next village to where I was brought up, very decent village team player in his day. Titch is divorced now, Riichards mother came home once too often to find the old man dissecting owl shite on the kitchen table having earlier boiled it up in one of her good saucepans Anyway, a good way of measuring the standard of the spl is to look at Taits former clubs, Ashton Curzon, Tamworth, Cambridge, Grimsby. Not one first team game above the top of the conference/divi 5/vanarama but slots in nicely as a journeyman full back in the SPL.
