He didn’t really have any other option, though, and for self-employed, we had to tread water for three months until “the system” was ready. If only there’d been a ready-made pandemic plan in place, that wasn’t scrapped to concentrate on committing national economic suicide.

Cheers PL. Sorry to hear that mate. It’s made me even more sure that elected euthanasia should be an end-of-life option available to people with terminal illness. We’ll not allow pets to suffer unnecessarily but can’t give the choice to our loved ones. Mental.

His thinking was “ I’m buggered either way, I’d rather not spend my last days ill from the treatment too”, he was also very worried that he’d be stuck in a hospital without being allowed visits. Tough choice, but as you say, tough bloke.

I’m sure that top bus is the one they used ( also, there’s why they used the Alston route- homebase). The Seagull is right, btw, it was Marlborough Crescent that they left from, proper classy end of town at the time

Cheers lads. He’s 85, up til now fit as a fiddle, and he’s taking it like a champ. If my kids have even half as many good memories of me as I have of him, I’ll have done well.

I used that bus loads of times to get over there for climbing. Seats were made of concrete and hatred if I remember rightly.
