  1. can't do it, sorry lads. skinted, not minted at the moment.
  2. and then it dissapears. literally overnight, the things gone just like that. the doc said this may happen as it was a small version. the skin around the area has reshaped back to normal as well. Am i weird?
  3. oh great. i waste literally 4 minutes putting that together and you guys come up with....
  4. Seems that last night we highlighted our greatest weakness at this level with our inability to break down a rather negative and dour blackburn side. So here are my 2 cents. It would seem to me that our back 4 really overall can’t be faulted for their work rate and endeavour, Krul is Raw, but actually good enough at this level, as is old man Harper. So that leaves us with our work to do further up the pitch. As we know on the left, Jonas is our get out ball when we need someone to run at and commit defenders, but his end product is distinctly average. Bartons delivery is good but his relative hot headedness means that he can be a liability, he is however the one fit player with the true passing ability to unlock defences. Nolan, as we know does not have the mobility of a natural old school box to box midfielder. He is most effective when playing off a front man as a goalscoring midfielder pushed higher up the pitch. Routledge is not effective at this level, despite his pace and reasonable finishing ability. Ben arfa when he is back from injury may well be an option down the right as an inside out winger ( see Adam Johnson/ Pedro of Barcelona for modern examples of players that do this role very well). Holding players are vital and we all to a man agree Check Tiote is really very good, but what about when the pressure is on. Using 2 deep lying playmaking midfielders (and Tiote also helps us tick over) does tend to work as you would always have an outlet in the middle of the park. Now it appears that Guthrie is not strong enough to do this but has a tidy range of passing available to him which gives us a plan b. My midfield would therefore be (against the top teams) 5 men. Jonas left, Tiote and Guthrie holding, barton right, Nolan furthest forward. Against the weaker sides Jonas left, tiote holding, barton central, routledge ( replaced by ben arfa when fit) right, and again Nolan furthest forward. Forwards next. As we know Andy Carroll is a dangerous but raw player. He is a goodish target man, but is not quite as good as a number of board members think he is. Shola has the ability to score around 10 goals a season at this level if he remains fit and motivated. Lovenkrands is a one trick pony, over reliant on pace, and can’t play the wide positions well enough to be used as an orthodox winger. He remains, to me at least an enigma. Best is injured and probably not good enough at this level. Now against arsenal, we beat them by defending solidly, by countering well and exposing their keepers weakness, but other than that we really just kept the ball better than we have for some time, what was so different against Blackburn is they employed an effective pressing system that stopped us from getting the ball wide to our more dangerous players. As our central midfielders lack a cutting edge in terms of passing through massed defences, we effectively run out of ideas. What do we need then? Do we play like other sides, (in reality our system is similar to arsenals in that both our wide players are right footed(currently)) and we do now like to move the ball around. I’d also be concerned that we are using the same players and by march we are going to be suffering some serious burnout.
  5. bit like me then. human super soaker. nearly drowned an ex once. poor lass.
  6. Given could have won a medal with us last season. reminds me a bit of Alan Shearers trophy cabinet.... could have been stuffed full of medals if he'd played for a great team, rather than our simply very very good side.
  7. I can categorically state he would walk into our side. far better player than routledge ( who is the nearest thing we have to a premiership right winger).
  8. aye, Boban, Prosinecki, Asanovic, suker, Stimac, boksic, wouldn't make a bad pub side (or part of it). None of them are Australian.
  9. donovan's a shoe in as a right sided forward for any team, he played really well for everton last year. i think he'll be there this season as well sadly. Elmander doesn't seem a bad player, now that Owen Coyle's got bolton playing football.
  10. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/gallery...67&index=15 the gruniads running their weekly football orientated photoshop thing. quite funny.
  11. Could play off Carroll. best position, probably is wide and cutting in looking at his attributes, but, his goal against everton was in exactly that position. we'd lose out defensively with him in the side though as he's not really one for tracking back.
  12. My 2 cents…. Hughtons been very media savvy, and presents very well. He’s allowed the good players to flourish and has restored confidence in those that were lacking. He also secured a very promising (but broken as of now) player in Ben Arfa. Tiote, as has been documented elsewhere, has been excellent. These were both his signings. Now that we are able to play with conviction and with no little flair in the premier league, allied to defensive solidity we are progressing at a good rate. I’m not expecting a top 10 finish as yet, but we need to strengthen our weak spots further with decent acquisitions. Right back is still an issue, even with simpson looking good. I’ve been impressed by Williamson, and Collocini has been pretty damn good. so, still work in progress, but good work in progress.
  13. goalkeeper... 2 top centrebacks, seems to be there most obvious weakness
  14. No way to talk about his beloved Newcastle. He's a fine one to talk about having no class, pathetic really. hmmmn. true enough, when he was managing lesser sides he'd regurlarly fuck off for more money/ a better squad. loyalty and class are not 2 words i'd reserve for dame hilda brackett.
  15. we were linked to modric a couple of years ago. fantastic player.... trouble is we would have under the last couple of managers, ruined him, i honestly beleive that. i think if we survive this year ( which i think we will, because we are scoring quite a few, when we get going). I also think our away record may well be fairly good. this, of course is dependant on our first team being fit. for the record, once fit Simpson is our best right back. in the summer we need a excellent right back, a decent level of cover at left back, and more variety up front. 2 target men and 3 championship has beens are not good enough.
  16. similar to walcott? not a bad idea.
  17. He did, but he's a truly awful man, virtually destroyed 2 clubs with transfer deals for some absolutely gash players... going to get found out in the champions league btw tonight i reckon. Should technically be in jail as well.
  18. 44 successful passes out of 47. thats xavi-esque and he can tackle. what a signing. so far he's been pretty stellar for us.
  19. my flatmate said she looked like a cabbage patch doll. She had a pet lip on when they were rowing on the step of the t-shirt shop. Liz is the front-runner now I would say, very successful task for her. I'd say so. good selling and great legs.
