A loss by any other name is still a loss. However, our defense were at fault for leaking goals that should never have been. Credit where it is due, going forward we were quite dangerous, created chances, but lacked the cutting edge. Murphy was a surprise starter, but he didn't do too badly in his first start. Had a good shot parried by their keeper. Shelvey was good in the lead role, but the supporting cast lost the plot late in first act. Big surprise, Perez didn't get an entry call before the final curtain call. Joselu, where were you!

No he's not, he's from Patagonads.

It was so long ago I can't remember who, when, or what, but I do remember being picked-up aheight and passed over peoples heads until I was down at the front sitting on the side-line with other kids who had been passed down because they were being squashed. I remember shouts of "kid coming doon"

Aye aa knaa that Mr.Fish, but I did say "in part responsible".

You know, I think our loss to Bournemouth was in part responsible for Bilic's sacking at West Ham. The 3 points they got jumped them out of the bottom three putting West Ham back in the cellar. Had that not happened Bilic may have survived another week or two due to the International break. After all their loss to Liverpool was to be expected and no big surprise but the Bournemouth win over us resulted in sinking the Hammers into the bottom three which appeared to be the last straw for Bilic.

Ritchie almost disappeared in the second half and there was very little attacking down the right. The surprise dropping of Perez was a blessing, his induction in the second half accomplished nothing. Murphy late on wasn't even a prayer, c'mon Rafa why not Mitro!! Both keepers made some excellent saves but Elliott could do nothing about the goal, that was the back line's fault. Shelvey was like a yo-yo, a mixture of brilliance and rubbish.

1st Half: In control, plenty of chances, should have cemented a win. 2nd Half: Lost control, a blind man could see that loss coming.
-
I think Joselu's problem is that he doesn't get the service a loan striker up front should be getting. Against Burnley there wasn't any good crosses he could capitalize on, and certainly not many good passes to his feet or for him to run onto.

In regard to Billy Whitehurst's criticisms of my expectations, let me state categorically about the Bournemouth match: I do not expect to win. I do not expect to lose. I do not expect to draw. However; I do expect Rafa to start Perez. I do expect to be a tad surprised at Rafa's line-up. I do expect I will moan, it's my right, my nature, it's ME.
-
We had a better #10 but Rafa let him go, DeJong.

I posted 3 times in the Palace topic, first one was prior to the match so was hardly moaning sunshine. Second one was;....... Ecstatic with 3 points. Appalled by the dismal performance. Palace were shite, and so were we. Perez at his anonymous best again. I take it this is what you base your statement about my moaning on. Third post was 2 words; ..........Left behind. As for what I was like when Pardew/Kinnear/ Carver/McClaren were managing, I suggest you dig into the archives and find out for yourself instead of asking me. Oh, I don't have laces in my shoes, I have Velcro fasteners, more easy for decrepit old fogies like me.

I expect us to win games that we could have, should have. Today's game was winnable and in the first half it looked like we were on track to do that. Second half looked like we might settle for a draw until they scored and that burst the bubble as we didn't look as though we could force an answer. Oh, I expect us to win next week.
-
'Only just lost', Dr.Gloom? If we win games 1 - 0 would you say we 'only just won'?
-
Swan-Vesta - Bryant & May, we need ones that will strike!! If we don't score, we won't win, and that's a fact. Perez...........same-o same-o, and you can take that to the banco. Diame..........the damp squib. When I saw Perez in the line-up again plus Diame I thought of the gunpowder plot that fizzled. I think Yedlin is catholic, he kept giving the ball to Burnley's Pope. To say I'm disappointed would be untrue, I'm more suicidal, know of a club I can join?

With Brighton's 3-0 win over the Hammers it puts them even on points with us but behind on goal difference, but not far. There are 3 other teams below us who can overtake us if we lose against Palace and all three win their games.

What kind of reception d'ye think Cabaye and that other want away ex player get? Little antsy about this one after them getting their first win, but it's a game we should win. Put Atsu on the bench and have him watch Zaha perform as a winger.
-
Actually Palace looked quite good albeit Chelsea weren't at their best. It was a well deserved win and got me worrying a bit about next Saturday.

That's why I made no comment as I'm not a fan of his. However it was a well taken second shot after his first one was blocked. At first I thought he was trying to put it across the goalmouth.
