  1. Certainly happy with another point not expected ................... but again as with Man.City, disappointed we didn't win as the opportunities were there to be taken in both games. Sadly I didn't see Sissoko show the strength and effort he showed against Man.City, in fact Tiote and Perez weren't at the same level either. The way Lascelles is playing I can't see Taylor getting the nod anymore unless it's in dire straits. Mbemba can only get better. In Shelvey's first game he looked like a very good buy, but now? I'd really like to know why DeJong and Saivet are not being considered for playing time.
  2. If I was a gambling man I would have just lost some money as I would have bet on a Man.City win. Never in a million years did I expect to get anything from that match let alone a point. Good shift put in by everyone. Too bad Sissoko and Wijnaldum missed golden opportunities, could have got 3 points. Aguero's goal was offside and can't believe the linesman didn't call it. Sissoko looked more like what he's supposed to be. Tiote had a good game, but he does scare me with some of his stuff. Lascelles had a good game, but he fluffed a couple of times that could have hurt. Anita has never impressed me but I'd give him a medal today.
  3. How many goals has he actually scored from the field of play since the January window? (penalties don't count)
  4. Of late, Wijnaldum has been fairly anonymous and you could say that of him today. I'm still finding it difficult to understand why his fellow countryman DeJong is not being used. I could understand Shelvey being dropped against his former team, and when he came on it showed. Cisse was on too long, he was accomplishing very little and wasn't doing much work off the ball. Tiote didn't do too bad considering. Anita did OK in the right back position but he lacks Janmaat's attacking forays. Dummet, Mbemba, Lasceles, Colback, Townsend, Sissoko, all put in a decent shift.
  5. Whoopee! Mind you it got a little scary in the second half and I thought we were going to go belly-up.
  6. If Mbabu is out and Dummet in I'd try something different like........... Darlow Mbemba Lascelles Dummet Shelvey Colback Townsend Wijnaldum DeJong Aarons Mitrovic
  7. We're at home, St. James' Park the fortress, 50,000 screaming supporters, sure enough we'll lose.
  8. If we go down, and it looks like we will, I expect Benitez will bugger off as I'm sure he can see that what we have is not good enough to get straight back up like the last time. Probably the only reasons he might stay with us are; Bigger wage, more money in his pocket. A huge bankroll to spend on new players of his choice in the summer. No restrictive rules of management, he holds all the cards. Staying in England to be closer to his home on the Wirral. And perhaps a little hurt pride because he didn't keep us up.
  9. My heart is broken, but what care I. Some pride in me has woken, I'll try my best not to cry.
  10. No better, no worse than I expected. Closer to the drop, and somehow I don't think Benetez can save us with what he has to work with now.
  11. My cock does stay up Alex, but sadly not when it's wanted it to.
  12. Haddawayanshiteman, aa'l settle fer a loss. Nowt left in me hopeful-bin.
  13. In all my years of supporting the Toon I've had a goodly share of ups and downs but I don't recall ever being as depressed as I am now. Perhaps that's because the Club has never before been so fucked-up from top to bottom as it is right now(with the possible exception of Benetez) I've bordered on feeling suicidal, but not wanting to go alone, I've searched for any group suicide organization but there doesn't seem to be any living members.
  14. If we go down, and it looks like we will, Benetez may not invoke his "I'm outa here" deal. He may be egotistical enough to say "I didn't keep you up, but I'll bring you back". Failure to accomplish something can sometimes make a person more eager to prove he can succeed. He may surprise everyone by not doing what they think he will if Newcastle are relegated. He may feel he owes those who gave him such support.
  15. I think I will just give up hope and resign myself to the fact that after our display against Norwich I can't see us getting any points from anyone and we're going down like it or not.
  16. Hard to believe two of their goals came in stoppage time, Wijnaldum didn't show up again, but that was expected cos he was away from home. Sissoko was his usual tour de what? DeJong should have featured in that game. You could see why Shelvey wasn't in the England squad. Should have been a better starting line-up, Anita is too weak in a do or die match. I fully expected to lose, but hoped we fucking wouldn't. The Mackems getting a point threw more shit on the fan.
  17. No surprise, deeper in the shit, only the hand of God can save us now, and I don't mean Maradona!!
  18. I have to question why Saivet has not been used much at all. What little I have seen of him he looked decent. Perhaps he could be the answer to the lack of a left-back. Anita is basically a midfielder and so is Saivet, but I think Anita favours the right while Saivet favours the left. DeJong also hasn't been used very much and I've always questioned that as he is a good player. I expect Benetez to recognize that and put him to use. Off the wall choice for me at left-back against Norwich would be Saylor. He has played an OK full-back before on the right, and if you recall, right sided Raylor filled in at left back for us when needed and did a halfway decent job. This could be a might work line-up. Darlow Janmaat Mbemba Lascelles Saivet Shelvey Tiote Sissoko Wijnaldum Dejong Cisse
  19. Hey Mr. McFaul, Aston Villa have won the FA Cup 7 times, not 4 times. Oh and they've won the league 7 times to our 4.
  20. In a dream last night we lost to Norwich, maybe it was a nightmare. Funny thing is I can't remember dreaming about scores ever before. I am really worried now as like many others I believe this is a MUST WIN game, more so than the Mackem one. I think the key to winning is what formation Benetez puts out there and whether they all put in a good shift and click as a team. My worry is not about letting in goals, it's about not putting any in. Wor Kev had the right idea, they score one we'll score two, they score two we'll score three.
  21. In view of the emergence of animal pornography relating to Johnson, is it true his major sponsor, the Wellington Boot Factory, have reluctantly cancelled their sponsorship?
  22. WTF, stripped of his England caps!! How can you do that, he played didn't he, you can't change that. Once upon a time the Victoria Cross could be stripped from a soldier if he did something really bad, but not anymore. No matter what he does after winning the VC those moments of heroism on the field of battle can never be stripped from him. You might be able to take Johnson's little tasseled caps away from him but you can't take away the fact he played for England.
  23. Let's face it lads, we were second best against the Mackems ...... we never looked like winning .......they did. After not getting 3 needed points today we are deeper in danger of being relegated and I'm not sure Benitez with all his experience and skills can save us. I expected to see much more quality and gusto shown by the players today but sadly it wasn't on view. PS. I see that on loan striker Doumbia wasn't even on the bench today!
  24. Thankful we didn't lose and will take the point though not sure we deserved it after a lackluster display. With not getting the 3 points we are destined to stay in the bottom three even if we beat Norwich, unless we win by a shit-load of goals and Blunderland lose. A win today would have given me high hopes on staying up but now those hopes are fading. I was expecting to see a much improved performance but it just wasn't there, we're just not a good team yet on individual merits we should be.
  25. The sad part now is that with Norwich winning, even if we win tomorrow we'll still be in the bottom three albeit above Blunderland. Must admit I've got bad vibes about tomorrow.
