And so it begins

Have read some of the ego battles elsewhere and hope it is a bit more constructive over here. I also hope Peaspud takes a lot of this in the spirit it is meant and realises it is a good way for NUSC and its members / potential members to communicate whilst awaiting the relevant forum. Hopefully at least in this thread it can be constructive AND informative each way and from all sides. I always do to be honest although like anyone else I am human and sometimes when you spend days on end working away on something only to have people slag it off then it does become personal, thats something that I personally need to address so apologies if sometimes things come across the wrong way wanker Seriously though, we are always looking for constructive criticism and helpful ideas its just that no matter what is done and how its done theres always some looking to rip it apart, thats the bit I feel is sad, that some Newcastle fans are looking for the supporters club to fail and doing whatever they can to help that happen.

I'll address the bold bit first before the general stuff, there are email addresses on there where you can send stuff to but I agree theres nothing specific I'll take a look at it. Regarding the lack of consultation with members we have been going out and asking questions and will be doing a lot more soon. There will also (when I get my finger out me arse ) be a members area where all of these things will be addressed. I agree with a lot you have to say and I know most if not all of the current committee feel the same. I also am aware that the above statements of infancy, amateurs etc do seem like excuses but they are the simple fact of things, we learn from our mistakes that much is true.

Snowball fights between the corner and scoreboard for that matter any kind of rivalry between sections of the ground, all of thats gone now, you dont get to feel part of a subgroup like back then, even now if someone says they used to stand in the Gallowgate my first question is Corner or scoreboard? the reply of Corner being met with a shake of the head and the quiet mutterings of "wanker"

Id be wary on that, Ive heard stories that once the contact centres get people on that contract then getting out becomes difficult, they refuse the transfer on the grounds of "business needs" ie they dont have enough people to cover those shifts and as you're one of those that currently do it they wont let you go. Personally, I wouldnt sign it and would be looking to jump ship asap because once theyve transferred out of the Civil Service then you're fucked.

well Ive now read the Arsenal site you talked about and I have to say that Im underwhelmed to say the least. Yes they have a bar but thats all they have, theres no mention on their site of anything else, I cant see any work being put into the local community, any dialogue between the SC and FC or other things. A supporters club is for the fans, for the FC, for the community, for everything that is right with the FC and against everything that is wrong. Currently theres too much of the "everything thats wrong" and not enough to shout about with NUFC, thats why we appear to be one sided. The Arsenal model that you keep referring me to though CT doesnt appear to have any substance. This getting of premises would be a thousand steps too far and ahead of ourselves, we have 5 Newcastle publicans that I know of who are members and have offered us the use of their premises when needed. It wouldnt be too difficult to take one of them up on their offer and get a deal going on matchdays where we get use of a room for members only. Thats all it needs, at least at the moment. I dont (personally) however feel that the time is right, subsidised beer and crisps are down on the list of priorities and I think that at the minute it would cause even further seperation between those that are in the SC and those that arent. I do agree fully however that PR is the way forward, thats why we now have (6 months too late if you ask me) a PR expert on the committee, someone who can advise on how best to put things out, when and where to put them and subtle changes to the way in which we do things. Matbe subtle is too small a word at times but its not taking a lot to change things round.

I have to admit I havent, Ive literally not had a minute so will probably do so on the train tomorrow but I will have a neb at them. There will be a members area on the site, again its just down to time constraints and the fact that I think the current site is shit, it looks ok but frankly its unworkable and wastes a lot of space so that is being redesigned first, the members bits will slot into that. There is however a number of email addresses for members (and for that matter non members) to raise concerns, issues and ideas. They should always be the first port of call for now. There is going to be a meeting to discuss the Supporters Trust stuff in the next couple of weeks which I think we will probably announce following tonights committee meeting, I'll know more when I get back from there. As for the other things, we are organising social nights, we represent the fans when ex players die ie we send flowers, condolences etc on behalf of NUFC fans, we take up matters with the club, stewarding being one, the VAT decrease being another, selling off of the ticket office and additional costs of calling to purchase tickets. All of these things are taken up but I would argue that it does need a group to push the football club (no matter which club you are) when things arent going well. The NUSC cannot take credit for everything positive that happens at the club thats for sure but the recent turn in events has got a hell of a lot to do with the role of the SC and the pushing on issues. You have to ask where we would be if there hadnt been someone questioning them and pushing for answers. The fact that even after last weeks meeting they asked us to be involved in future communications means that they themselves see some value in it.

So hold on Im lost? On one hand you're saying that we have a membership thats not worth a light (ie 1000+ in 6 months) yet at the same time you advocate that we buy or at best rent a pub so we can all get together for a beer? We have that now in the fact we can use the Irish Club whenever we want, at the same time maybe in a couple of years time we may adopt a bigger or what some could class more mainstream bar, the likes of the Strawberry are supporters of the club and have offered their services etc. Back in the old old days there was a social club I believe that was part of the supporters club, no doubt LM or Rob can inform on that one, Id be willing to bet though that it wasnt owned by them but merely used. At the moment the SC is barely past the crawling stage, we've still got the walking before we get to even a light jog. We do however do the things that a proper supporters club should do but frankly the main thing that any supporter club should be responsible for is ensuring those running the football club do so with the best interests at heart. Man U, Liverpool they are all doing the same as us, highlighting issues and trying to force change. Yet look at where their respective teams are, how I would love to be in their shoes yet they are still protesting and more than us frankly.

I think under the current plan not even the return of KK could make me optimistic for the future. It would take personal guarantees from Ashley to KK for funds, the removal of the current setup and someone like Mort in before I could be confident that we were really going to have a go at things. If it then fails then so be it but under the current way of working we are screwed regardless of manager (if not this season then next). Those things that are needed are, I feel just pipedreams.

Christ haway man, they're nearly 5000 words long. What do you want us to do hire JK Rowling in to tart them up? They are comprehensive and march exactly what happened that's what is important

Bollox would they. we havent lost a league match to a top four side this year. Including their "full strength side". Added to the fact we didn't have: Woodgate, Defoe, Keane and Palacios. We can give anyone a game on our day as you well know. Man Utd are beatable. 13 Hull 14 Tottenham 15 Newcastle 16 Portsmouth 17 Blackburn 18 Middlesbrough 19 Stoke 20 West Brom Whey aye sonna course you can and before you retort with "we're above you", we acknowledge the fact we're shite and know we stand a rats piss chance in the Sahara of getting anything against them

I Agree - but they appear to be taking any criticisms towards them into account. Its a new thing, so it'll take a while to set up but i'm possitive that, provided it keeps going, it'll be a strong supporters group. They're clearly in it to change things for the better, so if nothing else, they have my support for that. Yes, they do, I agree. It's amazing how normal language sounds really offensive once you're in the public domain. Nobody's going to take the NUSC seriously until it learns the language of diplomacy, at least in public. Saying that, most often they get it right, it's more at the begining when they were venting frustrations that it came across wrong. It's hard to live those reputations down though. I agree totally which is why some of us got our way and changed things round. Moved away from the confrontational aspect and went more diplomatic. As for your post CT then apologies but even you must see that almost everything you post is a direct argument against whatever we do, if we call for protest you argue it should be talks, when we talk to those in charge you make it out as if we were standing there offering the bloke outside yet the stuff you're quoting from says nothing of the sort. We can and have taken criticism for stuff thats been done but its getting fairly tedious when even the good things are picked apart by the same people time after time. Make no mistake there would not be these discussions and the Journal interview if the NUSC did not exist. As for the calling for us to be free so more will join well strangely thats what Llambias says as well, now why do you think he says that? is it because he wants us to be a 10,000 strong group? or because he knows that we will have neither the funds or more importantly the credibility to make a change? Oh and Asprilla I agree totally about the amateurish comment, plainly and simply because thats what we are, none of us are experts in these things, none of us are used to producing press releases or working out how to take on a massive company. What we are is passionate about the club and what we believe in, passionate about setting up a proper supporters club and dedicated to making it work. If we could wake up tomorrow and all the shite around the football club was sorted and we could get down to just organising the other supporters club stuff then Id be a happy man but we cant. For now this is hanging over us and needs to be exposed. If it ever achieves change at the club then great but if it doesnt then at least we will know we tried.

If we're lucky! 2nd bottom is my prediction. And by that time our confidence will be shit to shit.

Yes, if you jailbreak the phone (piece of piss, see elsewhere in this thread) and then download the modem app. Its fast as well, when I had router problems I used the iPhone off my main PC and you couldnt tell the difference. Only problem is you cant charge the phone at the same time (some daft bug) so it drains the battery, maybe 1 hour or so use at a time. I've never had a problem charging it while using it as a modem. I use PDANet to connect, don't know if that makes a difference. hmmm thats what I use, they must have fixed the bug

Seems a bit harsh like, tho I could see them charging him by the joke. I hope to fuck its a fortune per punchline then

I dont see any pining here.

Theres nothing wrong with taking a de facto adverseral position - I remember having a chat with Mark Jensen a few years ago outside Upton park (deciding whether to go in as the game was on the point of being called off) when he asked me what I thought of The Mag - I said it had become too much part of the establishment and gave the club an easy ride - he replied that we had nothing to complain about (at the time) to which I said theres always something. Even if Keegan was still here and Ashley had splashed the cash I think there would still have been a place for an "annoying" presence to keep the bastards in line - as it is I have no problem with hassling liars. Yes, but it aint a democracy, its a private business. You me and noone else has a "right" to attend or ask questions. And yes you can answer but as the fans we deserve..... bla bla bla whatever, but there are no mass demonstrations and only 1% of the match attending fan base are members of nusc so the club can quite rightly tell you to fuck off. In the spirit of "keeping your enemys closer" and all that, there are sometimes more than one way to skin a cat. These 4 members of NUSC currently have the chairmans ear, they are going to waste that opportunity by attending with an aggressive viewpoint and then writing whispers and gossip about james bond and the like. How long do you think he is going to come along and play handbags with NUSC. Either he will tell them to fuck off or just send a subordinate along. Just love irony Al baby In an unrelated post Alex said that Kid Dynamite had to be the biggest contradiction on here, he now officially isnt. You are clearly that, literally three weeks ago you were saying that the NUSC should become free and have 10k members to protest, that we should be protesting and nothing would be gained from talks. Now you say that we are wasting those talks, how exactly do you get that? those that went pushed on questions that the Thompson house journalists didnt have the bottle to ask in their extremely piss weak "interview". The dialogue clearly shows a non-confrontational attitude by the NUSC members yet the total opposite from the managing director of a club these people are fans and customers of. You wonder how long DL will continue to go to these because the NUSC is there, well the answer is at least one more than he would have done if we hadnt been, there was no intention on his behalf to go to these meetings, never has been even before the NUSC and always shied away since, its only through our forcing of the issue and getting ourselves on the panel that there ever was a chance of him being there. If you dont want him to answer questions on the state of the club or why we have a totally bollocks false accounting trasnfer policy then why do you want him to go? Because the meeting can happily move along without him, seeing as all that was previously discussed pre-NUSC days was "how can we sell more pies?" "what would make you buy an extra pint in Shearers?" etc. We got ourselves on there to discuss heavy handed stewarding in Level 7 (something that some people even attempted to slag us off for!). The word "contempt" has never been so apt yet you (an alleged member of the organisation) seems to see it as DLs right to treat that club like it doesnt exist, the use of the words "less than 1% of the fanbase" is remarkably like his putdown yet couldnt be so wrong, 1% is a fairly unheard of number for such a shortlived association. The FSF were amazed to find how many members we had especially as it was a paid subscription and the rate at which the organisation grows is enough to tell you that people are happy with what is happening. You seem to be intent on proving my (and others) original thought that you are a plant, paid (as per the very strong rumours) to supply misinformation and provide the clubs viewpoint. Im just interested to know how much its worth to lose your principles or for that matter actually pretend to be a fan of another club for money.

Looking at the MA business model I think that as long as we stay up then the plan is working as far as the owner is concerned, cut costs, reduce overheads, slash wage bill, buy in cheap, sell at a profit. Thats not only the MA/ Sports Direct way but the stated plan of these clowns. Consolidate, sit in Premiership for as long as we can and recoup as much of the MA loan as possible then when someone comes along and wants to take us out of the shit he will make a profit. Even if we go down (which we wont because DL says we wont :rolleyes) then it just accelerates the plan, sell more and buy even cheaper. I fear for the future of the football club we all love.
