  1. really dont know about this. I love the guy and he has always been a fan favourite but he's 35!
  2. some lad on Newcastle Online is adamant the game has been called off already. Have to say I will be extremely surprised if it goes ahead!
  3. no he handed in his transfer request ages ago. Leeds United can confirm that Jermaine Beckford has handed in a transfer request. The transfer request was handed in on December 30. "By handing in a transfer request it clearly indicates that the player wants to leave Leeds United. "However, that will only be allowed to happen in the event that it is decided to be in the best interests of Leeds United. "The best interests of Leeds United involve receiving both an acceptable transfer fee and securing a suitable replacement to ensure his departure does not have an adverse effect on the club's overall aim of securing promotion back to the Coca-Cola Championship." Ah, ok. Cheers for that. Aye, I saw that too but after I posted the comment
  4. is he a left sided player? I always thought he was a centre mid?
  5. he will have probably handed in a transfer request because the £1.5m offer was most probably turned down
  6. Smog Monsters are after him according to reports. Let them waste their money.
  7. I was speaking to a mackem yesterday who was trying to justify why their attendances are lower than Newcastle, Reasoning that SJP is easier to get to than the SOL and that Sunderland is in the middle of a credit crunch. As if saying, Newcastle fans haven't got any money worries. Pretty funny

    Wheater

Gazza is a massive NUFC fan and he played for the smoggies mate. FWIW I think Wheater will come back and be a good premiership player albeit with another club. You're right I agree, however I honestly cannot see Wheater ever pulling on a Newcastle United shirt. I may be wrong but he'd surely sign for any other premiership team over us should we get promoted. IMO
  9. I don't like him, I think his first touch is shocking and it lets his game down so much. however, how can you argue with 5 goals in 8 starts? Bring him in on loan for the rest of the season. I wouldnt touch him after that, He can't do it in the premiership. He can get away with it in the Championship which says a lot about this league!
  10. Am I right in thinking that Danny Simpsons contract at Man United is running out in January? Personally I don't think that Simpson would be good enough for the premiership, Surely Blackburn would have played him, or the mackems would have signed him? Having said that though, Simpson has looked comfortable in this division and if we could sign him on low wages I wouldn't be disappointed. Simpson has said he enjoys it here and wants to settle at NUFC. Do you think we will sign Danny or do you think Hughton and Ashley are trying to sign Matt Kilgallon from Sheffield United? Or possibly both

    Wheater

I was thinking this the other day. I'd take him because he would add competition for the centre back positions, But would you really want to change Coloccini and Taylor at the moment, they're very solid. Premiership is a different kettle of fish but surely a season playing together and forming a partnership would help us out a bit? Also for what it's worth, Wheater is a massive Boro fan I don't think for one second Boro or Wheater would entertain a bid from us! Especially if other bids inevitably come in for him should he become available.
  12. it is comical the way the boro absolutely despise us and we couldn't give a toss. Saying that I hate losing them and hope we stuff them! 442 magazine once wrote an article on the tyne wear derby and had a cracking quote about middlesbrough, One shared by Geordies and Mackems alike: "Boro are like a stone in your shoe, irritating but of little consequence" Unfortunately I have a horrible feeling and think we will lose
  13. i'm not too sure what the situation is regarding loanee's when a clubs in administration, are they still able to play them?
  14. bit of a fuck on but at least i can have the saturday for myself now
  15. brilliant today, watched the news conference on SSN my heart sunk when Newcastle and Gateshead werent read out after 6/7 others! I started to think they werent getting in then!!
  16. pretty much, he's resigned and asked for a £5m loan back by the end of today from what I understand
  17. bbc iplayer football league show? BBC should have them all up later today from individual games too I would have thought
  18. Yesterday summed up our season for me, weve done it so much this season. We get the goal and we just sit back on it, As soon as Nolan scored yesterday it was pretty much just see the game out. We only really started coming out looking for another goal when they equalised. After Marlon scored we did exactly the same and sat back. The only reason we've got away with it for so long is the lack of decent teams in this league who are able to take advantage! though there have been opportunities where we have been lucky for doing the exact same thing. Why cant we go out search for a couple of goals and keep the momentum going instead of tryin to kill the game as soon as we have a goal!? that said, I don't think yesterdays result was particularly bad. You can't win every game and we're still unbeaten in 8.
  19. NOTW scraping the barrel now like!
  20. economics, simple fact of life. Don't get into the Prem then you've got zero chance of ever winning anything. If you seriously want to see us lift a cup then getting back into the Premier is stage 1 of the plan. The alternative is mid table Championship mediocrity because if we're still here next season then there'll be 3 'bigger' teams here as well and they (as we are now) will be better equipped and funded for the fight. But if we're promoted, yet again we will play a weakened side in the FA Cup.
  21. That Jon Joe 'Toole is meant to be a decent enough prospect isn't he?
  22. I think i'm gonna go even though its going to cost about £200 all in I think! As for resting one or two players then fair enough, thats part and parcel of football anyway, players do occasionally need resting. I'm just against a whole team change and playing a completely weakened side like we did at Peterborough
  23. I can understand fans saying we need to get back into the premiership but this shouldn't in my opinion be at the expense of the FA Cup, I think Brummiemag is spot on personally. I'll be going to the game I love the FA Cup and always try and get to the third round ties. It's interesting seeing the reaction of fans against sending a full team squad really, Would people say the same if we got a home tie against Man United? I know I certainly wouldn't I'd want us to go out all guns blazing. I agree us winning the cup is an absolute long shot and it's never going to happen it's not unrealistic by any stretch of the imagination to have a cup run, not at all. Lower league sides have got far in the competition most noticably in the last couple of years. We should give it a good run. I went to Coventry v West Brom a couple of years back in the 5th round I think it was, West Brom were in a promotion battle yet still sent a full strength squad to Coventry, they went through to the 6th round and went up that season as Champions. Something we should try and emulate.
  24. Treck and a half that like!
