renewed optimism last heard when winning 8 games or whatever against pub teams last season. Not too far away from the mentioned 4 wins, against poor teams, all of whom had grounds for feeling they at least matched us, or looking at it the other way round, we were as bad as them. And unfortunately, we still aren't in the top 4/5 position we were in before Souness arrived. The post from isegrim is good reading.

Agree the squad is generally better now but 12 months ago we had Souness and we still do so I can't say the club is better off. Robsons management of an average squad was better than Souness' management of a good one is. 53128 So...what you mean is - we will not really be better off until Souness is binned ?
-
True. But expect it to re-surface when Souness is sacked, and Bellamy moves on from Blackburn to a club more suitable to his talents, and it dawns on even the most blind and ardent Souness spin believer what we have thrown away for peanuts of his value.

58 views but not much comment. Obviously peple don't want to face up to the truth that the club has been forced into huge expenditure by Mr Souness, while being taken backwards. iibafhwea, tbh. 53087 which was all so predictable, without needing a crystal ball either

you're right there. Does 3rd and 4th in the league, or 2nd Phase Champions League ring any bells 53073 12 months ago. Do try and keep up dear. I saw us struggle against Villa, Birmingham and get thrashed by Man U at the end of the 02/03 season. 53080 selective memory, and just opinion anyway. I happen to think another manager would have achieved a better league position than Souness, with the same players.

so can you understand what Billy Connolly SAYS ?
-
You what ? Anyway, we said this after the game. All of fuckwits signing played yesterday, bar Luque. Who doesn't look much like a Tony Green to me ....

PR disaster of Newcastle United proportions of they broadcast it. Even more so if they took the wise precaution of pulling it initially. 51741 Do you think Alex Ferguson will take leaf out of Graeme Souness' book of management techniques and kick him out ....... 51914 if i say yes, keane will be gone by the summer, you'll say it's down to his age. 51915 which would be correct

Suddenly war in Iran seems a viable prospect! 51725 In a cozy, understanding, all loving world, we would all be nice to each other. Well - far from calling Bush and Blair warmongers and slating them for wanting rid of the real warmongers, wake up time beckons. If Bush and Blair were the real warmongers, why haven't they wiped half the middle east off the map ? The REAL warmongers are rearing their ugly heads, and its now as obvious as the nose on your face who they are. The reason why we might be on our own, is the usual one. The rest of the world know we are the only ones prepared to stand up and do something about it, we should be proud of it [although be concerned for our own troops] and heap the deserved scorn on those who as usual, will stand by watching us save their skins, if this idiot tries to start a conflict.
-
absolutely correct. And in spite of what others may be tainting the yanks [and us] it has absolutely nothing to do with either of us. If this happens, the whole world is in danger, do we really want to stand by and allow it to develop, the fact is their is only one warmonger here, and it isn't us or the yanks.
-
not too difficult if they really wanted to end it for keeps
-
spot on. Owens goals are saving us from a relegation scrap. At the rate he is currently scoring we might, just might, finish in the top half of the table. Cue those who defend Souness saying he has "succeeded" when he took over a squad/team that was 5th, and spent 50m quid on it. Odd way of thinking. To me, its a definite failure and cock up of the 3rd degree.
-
LOL. But Jimbo, it's not always oil..is it ever ? If Iran and Israel are determined to confront each other...high stakes indeed. Should we just sit back and let them develop weapons when we know this is how they will use them ? No.

Didn't he get Athletico Madrid relegated ? 51103 did he ?
-
He did very well at Valencia - the first time - and quite well at Chelsea, he is obviously canny and equally obvuosly a major improvement on clueless. But I think his tinkering would bug the hell out of me to be honest.
-
but, according to the manager who decided we would get better results without him, "the only thing that matters is what they do when they cross the white line"
-
and so say all of us !
-
Maybe it's just his way of telling everyone he wants to get back into football. Do the Souness backers now wish we had lost another game or two, and suddenly we had a managerial vacancy ? But this, is what those of us who refused to back Souness have been saying all along, there is never a bad time to get rid of a knacker and appoint the right man.
