  1. Did anyone see Redknapp's Sky interview? Worth beating the bastards just to hear that level of bitter whinging.
  2. I know I'm a fan boy but I thought some of his hold up and lay-off stuff was exactly what we have been missing. He did look off the pace at times but I just think he needs games (I know, I know) to get his sharpness back for getting on the end of crosses etc which is another of his strengths.
  3. I though he was fucking terrible - but who cares
  4. Hooray for the FAB - class. (And the useless Irish cunt as well)
  5. Yeah but pigeons carry more disease which puts them back in the rat category. On shit I'm with HF - I used to have a silver grey car for a couple of years when I lived in Shields and the bastards used to love targetting it to a level that puts US smart bombs to shame.
  6. His XFM stuff is about the only thing of his I've ever liked - though clips of his stand-up seemed good as well. XFM is the only radio station I listen to - though it did go a bit downhill after Capital bought it.
  7. If it hadn't been for Lehmans and Iceland, we would have made record profits this year - this low confidence is a bitch.
  8. I studied the new deal in history and always wondered why it was seen as one-off - though perhaps the war covered up the aftermath.
  9. They can they just don't want to - there has been no reduction in interbank dealing as far as I can see. It's over-reaction - being stung by one type of deals based on toxic debt does not mean you shouldn't still lend to "safe" people.
  10. I admit to not knowing much about economics but I still can't see why there has to be a recession. If its a question of banks not extending credit to companies then they shoulld be forced to do so - possibly via NR and the other "nationalised" ones. Specifcally for construction etc we should do what the Yanks have done and bring forward government projects.
  11. After his latest shite I'll be astonished if Owen isn't sold in January.

    Stereophonics

They've threatened now and then to match the first two albums without quite getting there. Personally I was a big fan in the early days - but they pissed me off when I went to Donnington in 01 and they had a large VIP area in front of the stage - no fucking need for it whatsoever.
  13. Doing what though? the only thing that uses the full bandwidth that I know of is usenet binary downloads. I think if it was just for browsing I'd be happy with 2Mb.
  14. and the fact they monitor your web usage and collect the data as they are part of the Phorm Advertising thing. Be lucky to see 1/2 that in real world performance, even with the new "advertising code". The 20Mb service does the full whack - only drawback is the shaping as mentioned.
  15. It may depend on how Man City do in January - if they go for stupid people like Torres or a bit lower but it doesn't work out and it gets to the last couple of days without "satisfaction" then they may go for him. I have a feeling Owen may sign a new contract but it aill have clauses that allow escape if someone he fancies comes in.
  16. On the credit where it's due front I also thought Guthrie had a damn good game.
  17. Other candidates aside, I work with a Fenherbace fan who reckons we dodged a bullet there. They were grateful of the CL run but domestically he was deemed a failure.
  18. "Base" I think is a legacy fom alchemy - it refers to common metals which were supposed to be changeable to gold. Base as in Acid and Base is a very american term - we'd use alkali which refers more to the likelihood to combine with acids to form salts.
  19. "Impressed with Joe Kinnear" is probably the thing he has said in 18 months which justifies everything said about him the most. More bullshit propaganda

    Bailout

I find it funny that the Republicans used "socialist" as a smear on Obama to try and win but now seem happy to bail out an industry (other than banking obviously). It won't happen but if Chrysler, GM and Ford all went tits up it wouldn't half be enterteaining to see the fallout - I'd imagine the European/Japanese car makers would be fucking laughing their tits off.

    Woolworths

Stupid list of things I used to buy at Woolies as a kid: Wembley trophy footballs. Winfield Football boots (£4.49 I think). Airfix model kits. When I've walked past in recent years, I've always got the impression of a Poundland type shop - harsh but I think it illustrates they had no clue as to how to position themselves in the 21st century.
  22. As long as they have the guts to measure the 10 yds correctly - remember when Ginola was booked for counting the steps to a wall at SJP which was 7 paces away? - I think it was Bennet or one of the other corrupt cowards.
  23. Sad but true - I overheard two people in our accounts department who know exactly what has caused this crisis, come out with the cliched "Labour have fucked up the economy and we need the tories to put it right as always" - decent people overall but simple southern twats when it comes to politics.
  24. The gold sale does appear in hindsight to be a huge fuckup - a fair cop - however much like the Iraq war its something I can't see the Tories not having done the same on any kind of principled basis.
  25. The international banking system fucked the economy not the goveenment - though they do deserve a bit of blame for lack of regulation. There may be truth in that from a top-down perspective, but from the bottom up (i.e. us plebs) the government deserves a good deal of blame for letting house prices and personal debt spiral to unsustainable levels. Possibly but I don't see house prices especially as something under government control short of a massive investment in social housing to satisfy demand (something I would like to have seen). I also think any mooted control of personal credit would have been extremely unpopular - however much warranted.
