    Kinnear.

With Keegan we'd have 7 or 8 more points and be about 5th.

    Kinnear.

Stick to the original idea - new owners = new managere imo - until then okay.
  3. My thinking now is that given the equality of the league, we should be okay even muddling through but a better manager and a productive window could easily see us push for where we should have been aiming for all along.
  4. If they have serious money then as long as its by mid Jan it should be okay - see Man City as an example. Of course I'd presume if they knew it was going to be tight they'd have a manager sorted and he would have a shopping list.
  5. I've been following the polls at RCP for the last couple of weeks and it looks to me like it would take serious fraud for the Republicans to win now. They might be able to fiddle one or two swing states but not enough imo.
  6. Almost what I'd have - except Cole for Shearer (awaits mild abuse).
  7. One that doesn't get mentioned is one Peter scored against Everton in his first spell - he started from a standing position about 10 yards outside the box and started knocking the ball from one foot to the other then continued as he approached the defence. He kept the same thing going to dance around a couple of defenders and then in the same motion knocked the ball past Southall. Unfortunatety it wasn't on TV. On away goals and related to the ones above he scored one at Sheff Wed where he chipped the keeper almost from the byline and in the post match interview modestly stated he meant it as a shot. Trevor Francis stated he didn't believe him and it was a cross - this is why I despise the twat to this day.

    Mirandinha

It was exciting to have him at the time - a good player in a shit team and he did provide happy memories - especially the Kop winner which is one of my fave football moments ever.
  9. There is no Keegan scenario that even you could think of that would excuse Ashley's tenure at the club.
  10. You mean you were happy with his honesty when you were agreeing with what he said, now he's dare to cast doubt that poor king Kev isn't the big victim that some like to think you don't want to hear it. I hope these statements do come out and can't wait to see the reaction from the mongs who blindly back Keegan without knowing whats gone on if it does turn out that he's to blame for a lot of it. No - I was happy with his honesty when he talked about how he knew he wasn't first choice and how nobody wanted him but he'd do his best. Now he's trying to get his feet under the table and also being primed with crap to feed the media. How does this fit in with his initial statement about 6 buyers and Keegan/Shearer coming back which was also fed to him by Llambias/Ashley? On Keegan I've stated my position - I don't care what the exact ins and outs of the argument were about as I'm now judging Ashley by his actions as a whole and his constant stream of contradictory bullshit on a daily basis.
  11. Kinnear's initial kudos for his honesty is now gone for me - the bloke is a useless, over-ambitious fuckwit. One of the best things about any possible sale will be getting this fucker's name removed from Newcastle United.
  12. Or like in this case to find a central source for relevant stories which means not having to trawl loads of sites.
  13. Unless he completely changes his attitude to the club and actually defines his goal as improving the position of the club on the pitch and in terms of league placing then him hanging on is pointless. I honestly can't see how any manager could take the current squad where we want to go and his tippy-tappy approach to squad building wouldn't change that for the forseeable future.
  14. I don't know which is worse - the idea that we didn't look beyond Roeder and just gave him the job, or we did look at and even interview other people and then still gave him it.
  15. The only problem I have with the ethos is that instead of teaching people to be good for its own sake or for the sake of our fellow man, we are told to be good in service to a god who will reward us. Furthermore good works are rewardless without worship of said god.
  16. There is no substantial proof he existed but depsite my atheism I accept that he did (though pointing out the lack of non-biblical proof is fun). Obviously the supernatural bits are bollocks and a lot of his quotes were made up a lot later as Paul established the church and defined it for his needs and then later by the council of Nicae as they defined it for their political needs at the time. Lot of good stuff in the ethics but it all falls under stating the bleeding obvious imo as funnily enough the same tenets appear in all the other religions. The christian concept of original sin which defines us as flawed at a fundamental level is however an evil doctrine in my view.
  17. Ins and outs of the actual incident aside, I think a lot of people are using this as an excuse to get at people they don't like and especially in Ross's case this is driven by his salary. I wouldn't be suprised if he gets his agent to phone ITV/Sky and try and get out of his BBC deal.
  18. He did? So this is basically about someone telling the truth in a not very nice way and Ross swearing. Aye, she's come out and said as much since . Not only said as much but has sold the gory details to The Sun.
  19. (Yes I am sad) What got me was that there was a good line when Eccleston started where Rose said he had a funny accent for an alien and he replied "Other planets have Norths too". However the BBC obciously decided that they couldn't follow a northern Doctor with a scot so made Tennant another posh Englishman.
  20. Another good chance for a gene pool cull - 27000 complainants. It was a bit strong but an apology should be enough.
  21. I thought Eccleston was excellent and was disappoibted he left so soon. I couldn't stand Tennant but still watched occasionally until Tate joined. A new combo will see my return as a viewer.
  22. how good a player he was, i don't see him playing more than 10games even if that, between the long layoff and getting fit Fair enough - you could argue that he is used to coming back from lay-offs but then again his age will be more against him. I really hope he does.
  23. To me it was the like the early Keegan home games last year - a team with no confidence in a feedback loop of nervousness with the crowd. I hope it will improve as we get more results though Villa will be tough. Having said that I don't think Villa will be as passy as West Brom which may give us a chance - I would take a point though and then look forward to two winnable games after that.
  24. We'll need him at the end of the season as we did last year - if you don't recognise how good he is when he does play then I despair.
  25. I would also add that Martins was up to his usual trick of coming back to "help" the team and trying to dribble his way out of his own half which nearly always ends in him losing it - that's why it wasn't a bad idea within the flow of this game to take him off (though we may as well have played with 10 with Xisco).
