Said before, press conference at Sj James Park, 3pm today.

Tickety tockety?

The '3pm press conference' thing truly has become something lost over time hasn't it?? ;)

Bet there's not many who remember what to say in response to 'Vitor Baia' is there?

Won the Champion's League didn't he?

How the fuck have we ended up with Simon Westerns twin?

Not too happy but the football can't be any worse that BS. Bet thats the last of Ashley sitting with the fans.

Ties in nicely with Mendieta

Has Shepherd really gone?

I can't tell the difference tbh.

Sums it up perfectly. Leazes was right!

;)

For some reason, I feel slightly optimistic. Mainly on the basis that his teams play with more intelligence, movement and pace, so if he is backed, and spends the money well, you never know.

Latest news on SSN is he has just left Portsmouths training ground. Didn't say where he was going though. ;)

Shouldn't the daft shite be in Sunderland? ;)

it says now he has missed the usual pompey 3pm press conference.

it's blatantly redknapp or one of his ilk.

i want to know how come we haven't been linked with even one foreign coach?

louis van gaal for example would have been a good option. why aren't we considering foreign coaches with experience of actually winning trophies?

don't think this has been posted :

Anal sez :

NEWCASTLE United made their move for Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp today.

The Fratton Park club confirmed that United had made an approach for their 60-year-old manager as a replacement for Sam Allardyce.

And the word coming out of the south coast today was that Portsmouth are almost resigned to losing Redknapp.

United owner Mike Ashley is in Hong Kong today, but significantly chairman Chris Mort was not in his St James’s Park office Tyneside.

Redknapp turned up at the Portsmouth training ground as usual to prepare his side for Sunday’s game with Sunderland.

Many Pompey fans are distraught at the prospect of losing Redknapp, but on the other hand he is experienced enough to know that he will have to win over a considerable number of Newcastle supporters.

And sources close to him told me today that he will do that by winning football matches.

And those sources also told me Redknapp would turn down Mike Ashley’s offer of a private jet to fly him between Tyneside and his luxury home in Bournemouth from Southampton airport.

An associate of Redknapp insisted: "If he does move to Newcastle, Harry will keep his place in Bournemouth but buy a place in Newcastle and live there."

While Redknapp’s wife Sandra will be not keen to leave the south coast, but I believe the pull of managing Newcastle United will sway him.

There is already talk that should he arrive at Newcastle he would bring Portsmouth central defender Sol Campbell with him and that Spurs right-back Pascal Chimbonda would be another target.

Redknapp is still the bookies’ favourite to replace Sam Allardyce, with Blackburn boss Mark Hughes as second favourite. Rovers used to be sponsored by one of Mike Ashley companies and he often turned up at games at Ewood Park.

He met Hughes and has always been impressed by the job the former Manchester United, Chelsea and Welsh striker has done on limited funds with Blackburn.

But today Hughes distanced himself from the Newcastle job.

"There’s always speculation when any big job comes up. I seem to be talked about in good terms and I’m appreciative of that, but it’s just recognition of the work myself and my staff do here," said the Rovers boss.

"I have not spoken to anyone from Newcastle. I spoke to my chairman last night and he has had no contact, and I don’t think there will be any contact.

"I am in a very strong position here, I have a great relationship with the chairman and the board and that is really important."

But Redknapp is still the man Mike Ashley wants. He was quick to reassure Everton supremo Bill Kenwright that he had no interest in his manager David Moyes in a phone call between Hong Kong and London late last night.

As far as United supporters are concerned, I would guess that Jose Mourinho would be high up on the list, and my information is that Mike Ashley’s best pal Paul Kemsley, the former Spurs chairman, has mentioned this to the Newcastle owner.

There was a clause in Mourinho’s release deal from Chelsea which supposedly bans him from working for another team in the Premier League this season.

But a chairman in the Football League told me today that United could could get around this with a payment of around £1m to Chelsea.

This is because United’s stock has fallen so low that Chelsea would not be too bothered if Mourinho was to arrive at St James’s Park.

Meanwhile, Pompey warned last night they would not welcome any approach for their manager.

Redknapp insisted he had not been contacted by anyone from Newcastle and that he was happy where he was.

However, he did not categorically rule himself out, something Pompey later attempted to do by issuing their own statement.

It said: "The club has received no approaches for the services of our valued manager. He remains as committed as ever to this football club.

"He recently signed a new improved four-year contract with Portsmouth.

"The club has made significant investments over the last two years and the results now being enjoyed are the fruits of those investments.

"Last season, the club finished in its highest position for 52 years and this season we are on course to better that. We have recently won nine out of 10 away games, a club record.

"We are in the middle of the busiest time of the season and as such this speculation is unhelpful."

I'm failing to understand why people are still offering Mourinho as an alternative.

He's either the only man for the job, or there's no chance whatsoever. Why is he being mentioned as second choice?

Because only Ashley's choice really matters?

If he can't get him fair enough but why not try?

Isn't that just the most ridiculous sentence you've ever heard him utter?

How else could he win us over? A couple of magic tricks at the fucking press conference?

That's the point I'm making. Jose should be the first target, and then if he turns it down we start looking around. If we can't get Redknapp, we can hardly turn around and try get Mourinho can we!

As I've said thye special one should have been the first port of call, shy bairns get nowt. What suprises me about them going for Redknapp is that he's still under investigation and isn't exactly a saint, I mean FFS we've just got rid of one bung merchant.

I just hope his mate from Spurs hasn't influenced his decision.

HR has got to come yet though, can't see her indoors fancying a shift up north with the inbreds.

If you believe Oliver (which I don't ) then his mate Kemsley (sp?) brought up Mourinho.

I'm quite shocked but hope and think he will do a good job. (if he joins of course!)

If I was him though, I'm not sure I'd want to leave pompey again out of principal and because they have something special going on down there at the moment. If 5 million quid a year was waved in my face though, it would be a tough one to turn down =/
