So we bid just below the asking price? How convenient. We're sitting on 35m. Why not just give them the extra 5m? Oh yeah, that's right, because we've no intention of signing anyone, unless it's on the cheap.

Shame on Lee Ryder for trying to back up the club's hope they can take us for mugs.

Think he's almost duty bound to repeat what he's heard today, regardless of how unlikely or what the source is. All part of the 'fun'. The beeb do the full 'Ronaldo seen in West Denton Chip Shop' thing as well.

GIGNAC VERS NEWCASTLE ? Selon la BBC, Newcastle serait en pole position pour accueillir André-Pierre Gignac dans ses rangs. Les Magpies pourraient l'accueillir en prêt.

According BBC, Newcastle is close to set the loan of Gignac. God damn...

Can you give us some info about this bloke, Mal please?

Well they're wrong. He was actually in Marshall's, Tynemouth, following Jonny2j's recommendation on here.

Sol Campbell linked with Brighton, Charlton & Gateshead today. And (as ever) Arsenal too. Free agent so unaffected by deadline.

There's always the possibility of clubs (especially the two desperadoes at NUFC) putting out false rumours in attempts to 'frighten' the clubs who are playing hardball into making sales. If you get my meaning?

Just a thought.

Gignac is a striker. His best season was on 08/09 with Toulouse (38 games 24 goals) but after that he had lot of injuries and did two poor seasons. 8 goals in 30 with Toulouse 09/10 and 8 goals in 31 with Marseille 10/11 (+ 1 goal in League Cup and hat-trick in CL).

Last season every medias talked about his weight problem, the source of the injuries and this summer coach Didier Deschamps sent him in Merano for a "detox" (like Benzema).

Gignac is not a bad player but he live an hard period of his career. He is strong and have a powerful shot. When it is in the shape he is rather fast and good scorer.

But after these 2 hard seasons it's clearly a bet.

Chris B via text: "Just seen Sebastien Bassong being driven into Newcastle's training ground. Looks like a return for the defender."

Didn't Besty start this rumour up a few hours ago?

Thanks, Mal. Sounds like our very own CT, what with his weight problems.

:D Class if he did.

My ITK tells me that 'striker' Peter Crouch is on a 'plane heading for Newcastle as we speak. He's off to sunlun, but, in order to save on the travel costs, inside his hand luggage is PVA who is coming to NUFC  You heard it hear first.

#nufc Hearing NUFC bid for Papiss Demba Cisse was more than £10million, Freiburg wanted closer to over £15million

Then pay the £15Mill !!!

It beggars belief that we've yet to get a striker.
