You would have thought there was enough resources in the North East for scans etc It's either a long term injury or he's signing for another club. Happy new year! Newcastle manager Joe Kinnear insists goalkeeper Shay Given will not be leaving St James' Park in January. In recent weeks, Arsenal and Tottenham have both been linked with a transfer window move for the 32-year-old. But Kinnear told The Journal: "He won't be leaving - he has no interest in that whatsoever. He loves the football club. "He's part of the city and that suits us because he's a world-class goalkeeper. He's very happy here, he's very comfortable at Newcastle United." Speculation surrounding Given's future increased after he produced a series of magnificent saves during the Magpies' 5-1 defeat by Liverpool on Sunday. That performance led Kinnear to hail the Republic of Ireland international as the best goalkeeper in the Premier League. "Shay's performance against Liverpool was brilliant and that got picked up on," added Kinnear. "But ask the Geordie fans and I think they already knew how good he is. Pardew's assurances aren't worth bugger all as we all well know, and why anyone debates the opposite is beyond me. Exactly. As a group of fans we can't believe anything that comes from thje board or manager in terms of our transfer policy. That policy being, if the moneys right they'll go, and if the fee is cheap/right for the club they may come. We can't say for certain that he's staying just because Pardew was told by Derek that he's gan neewhere. Personally, I hope he'll be here come February 1st but not so sure about next season. What the fuck did we do to deserve this, having to second guess the owners? It's not that Ashley want's us to do badly, it's just he want's us to scrape through everything on the lowest budget with the shittest products. You only have to look at Sports Direct. Manager Alan Pardew, whose side sit three points above the relegation zone after defeats to Manchester City and Tottenham, is so concerned about the injury, which has been niggling Carroll for weeks, that he sent him to the Lister Hospital in Chelsea. The unit specialises in MRI scans and the level of treatment available to Carroll, who was accompanied by his agent Mark Curtis, suggests Newcastle are extremely worried about the injury. The only tiny positives are, he played his best game by a mile for the toon up front (at home to Arsenal when Taylor scored), and it's impossible to be any worse than he is in midfield. This is it for me, he is not just shit in midfield he will cost us points by being so slow, imobile and letting teams break, whilst risking pens and dangerous freekicks with his late tackles. Obviously he won't offer us any movement up front either which if he's paired with Nolan would be frightening and i'd have Ranger ahead of him by a country mile, but if Pardew is goign to play him, then up front probably isnt the worst option.
