Barton on Sky: "I have not made a final decision just yet, but speaking to the club, they have got big ambitions and I had to come down and hear what they have got to say and go through the formalities of the medical side of it just in case any deal does happen."

Its obvious he doesn't want to go. Probably an attempt at forcing a contract out of MA. I think he's misjudged the fat man though

He's a very stubborn man.

People said he wouldn't finish that 9th big mac - but true to his word he did.

Sounds like he desperately doesn't want to sign for them.

I've been watching football since 1985, and I can't recall anyone ever having a medical just IN case a deal happens.

Don't agree with the 'my hands are tied' comment from him like, that's a load of shite. Should of just stuck with I'm not wanted so I'm going, which is true. I think the naivety of what it takes to run a football club is starting to show from the glorified Casino managers...

I think there are a lot of strings attached to him leaving for free. Like QPR pay his loyalty bonus.

It's as plain as the smile on Pardews face that he'd like Barton to stay.

This is the main problem with Barton leaving. Forget the debate over his ability, attitude and influence. If the board are calling the shots on contracted players it underminds the manager.

Pardoo tried to play it like it was his decision, dropping him from training, weighing up the pros and cons of whether or not to play him and then deciding he should play for the first team.....now he just looks like a dick all over again because he has no control over any of it whatsoever.

He'd have been better off leaving barton out altogether, at least it would give the appearance of him having some control.

Was giving him the benefit of the doubt as he deserves it infinitley more than Ashley, But he's trying my patience now.

Either tell them to fuck off, or do one. Stop with the attention whoring.

Heart on his sleeve isn't it? The sort of thing we love until it's not in our favour.

He obviously doesn't want to go and what's wrong with hoping it'll work out even to the very end, like my last 12 relationships.

Exactly the quotes yesterday as well were tragic as well.

"i'm having a medical now...look honestly i'm going go, see i'm on a train...better stop me, i'm i'm going sign for them if you don't stop me soon"

was like a bairn pretending to run away from home

Even though I agree I can't help but feel that this is a big aspect of his personality, both on and off the pitch, and somewhat likeable. Or entertaining, at least.

If he wanted to stay he would turn round and say, "No,I'm not off to the Medical, Im staying"
