When someone new comes along they either get it or they don't. If they don't get it and they're thin skinned they can still participate selectively and I would assume still be able to talk everything related to the club whilst ignoring the good natured ribbings that are dished out. If they're thin skinned and thick headed well that doesn't usually end well. It's more of a functionally dysfunctional community than a public forum.
