Who?

The unfunny one from the Hebburn series years ago and his even less funny missus.

Comedy for housewives, so in 2024 it’s comedy for no one.

Living vicariously through another former player.

I am trying to work out who the other player was that doubled up on him. Trippier (who was in utterly woeful form at the time) had no need for help iirc.

Hang on, I've only just realised he's not even from Sunderland. Following the careers of Henderson or Pickford and wishing them well makes sense up to a point, same as we've always kept a soft spot for Gazza or whoever, but Clarke is from York and only joined them after spells with Leeds and Spurs?! I assumed he must be a local lad the way they're so attached to him

Yep. The way that go on about Luke Onion you'd think he was a born and bred fan of massive lads, considering he's an icon to them and also shit at football. He's from, checks notes, Hemel Hempstead.

Then you've Bellingham who's a brummy, and theres Rigg who is from Hebburn and who's family support Newcastle. Their goal keeper is from North Shields too. I don't think any other players are local and in fact 65% of the squad is foreign, mainly from the French lower leagues.

If they keep flirting with the automatic places then their manager will be leaving them for relegation fodder in the premier league once the managerial merry go round kicks into full gear. They'll get to live vicariously through him next until he's managing Southampton against them next season whilst they complain about Heckinbottom.

I watched 20 mins or so of the first half, they actually played some really nice stuff, which was a surprise, Sheffield Utd looked dogshit, pleasantly surprised by the result.

they were top and 6 points ahead of sheffield united at the beginning of this month.  they're 4th and 5 points behind them now.

been a canny november for the mackem cunts though, we got beat off west ham.
