Something to do with the temporal lobe apparently if I have it at all? I've an MRI in two weeks but the doctor said they might not find anything at all so I don't know what they do in that circumstance other than put it down to my extraordinary mental faculties and count it as a heavenly blessing. :good:

You've opened your third eye - you have to cut out fluoride for that so I can only assume you have teeth like a smashed fence, but at least you'll be able to ride the cosmos.

It was a benign tumour IIRC. Not sure where it was but could well have been the temporal lobe. Wasn’t trying to put the shits up with you with the brain surgery crack  That was very much last resort. Fingers crossed it’s just some kind of X-Men style mutation

  • 2 weeks later...

Had extreme versions of déjà vu since around 2022 I think, now and then, maybe once every few weeks sometimes longer sometimes shorter, lasts around 30 seconds to a minute, very hard to explain tbh but nothing like normal déjà vu which everybody has. After the first few times when I thought I was going mental I actually recognised there might be something wrong and when I knew it was happening would almost study it myself. I eventually told the missus but left it at that. I saw a GP around January in case it was a prelude to dementia or something so he referred me to neurology which I went to on Friday. From the conversation he said it could be a temporal lobe epilepsy so has booked me in for the MRI and an ECG. I'm perfectly fine when it happens, am aware of it and even tell the wife and kids when it's happening. They say I just stare at them or the TV amazed and almost laughing as I'm at that moment listening to what's being said and 'know' what's going to be said. It's very weird. I mean, I always knew I was a sandwich short of a picnic but wasn't expecting this!

HMHM sorry I've missed this. It's probably with the board issues.

You're describing what I've had since I was about 6. I have frontal lobel epilepsy.

It sounds like you're having partial seizures. I.e petit mal sezuires. I used to have them loads when I was a kid but had the odd grand mal. Last few years I've had grand mal but they're confident with my new meds they're in control of it.

I'm sure they'll get to the bottom of it and sort you out and hope your MRI goes OK. If you need owt just drop me a DM.

Among other things I was prescribed Sertraline this week as the first SSRI/Antidepressant I've ever been on.

HOLY FUCKING SHIT I was not prepared for the side effects, from wednesday to saturday I didn't eat a bit of solid food because I was the worlds most nauseous man.

Fuck that.

50mg which is apparently pretty standard.

I imagine I'm in a small category of people who get such an adverse reaction to it, hence it being the first thing I was tried on.

Going on holiday this week then I'll be back to hopefully try something I react to less. Currently the anxiety is preferable 😅

Hope you get something suitable, Andrew. My missus seems to get rare side effects to medical stuff from time to time although I just put that down to her female stubbornness.

Cheers, the actual mental side is fairly light, but it feeds into some quite persistent stomach issues i've had this year that Id really like to properly deal with.

I was on it for a while for anxiety but the side effects were intolerable. I'm not sure if I thought it helped or not, maybe it did. It's really hard to say with some of these sorts of things. I just use Beta Blockers now for days when I'm particularly bad and beyond that call it quits.

Hope you're well anyway Andrew, but sounds like the right decision to get off them given the side effects. I'm told different drugs can have wildly varying responses from different people, another type may be better for you.
