Why the Chinese sought fit to start looking in the area on their own is a mystery and has sinister overtones if they are proved to be correct. But to make this bold and premature announcement about their 'great discovery' on their state television network is embarrassing for them. They think that this is some kind of race and whoever finds the blackbox can claim some kind of superiority over everyone else who is looking. Childish behaviour. They will be a serious danger to the world in 10 years time or so when their power projection capabiltiies improve that will cover territorial disputes they have with all their neighbours in the region. But back to this Chinese 'discovery' - I am looking forward to the excuses they make in an attempt to save face when they realise that what they have detected is not the blackbox at all and they are not superior as the Chinese population think they are.
