One of the Greatest British songwriters. Should have done more albums. If you look at any of those doc on him his life was pretty sad and unlucky despite the wealth.

:good:

These are the days of the open hand

They will not be the last

Look around now

These are the days of the beggars and the choosers

This is the year of the hungry man

Whose place is in the past

Hand in hand with ignorance

And legitimate excuses

The rich declare themselves poor

And most of us are not sure

If we have too much

But we'll take our chances

Because god's stopped keeping score

I guess somewhere along the way

He must have let us alt out to play

Turned his back and all god's children

Crept out the back door

And it's hard to love, there's so much to hate

Hanging on to hope

When there is no hope to speak of

And the wounded skies above say it's much too late

Well maybe we should all be praying for time

These are the days of the empty hand

Oh you hold on to what you can

And charity is a coat you wear twice a year

This is the year of the guilty man

Your television takes a stand

And you find that what was over there is over here

So you scream from behind your door

Say "what's mine is mine and not yours"

I may have too much but i'll take my chances

Because god's stopped keeping score

And you cling to the things they sold you

Did you cover your eyes when they told you

That he can't come back

Beacuse he has no children to come back for

It's hard to love there's so much to hate

Hanging on to hope when there is no hope to speak of

And the wounded skies above say it's much too late

So maybe we should all be praying for time

Listen Without Prejudice is a great album. We never did get volume II. :(

I saw a post to a tweet yesterday saying something along the lines of '2016 has to be one of the most testing years ever' or words like that. Then a reply of 'I think 1939-1945 would be up there'

Many on Facebook have developed PTSD from the horrors of pretending they were a bigger fan of people than they actually were, just to use the deaths as content generators for their timeline.

Unlike previous generations, they DO like to talk about it.

Agreed. He wrote that when he was only 25(ish), round about the end of the 80s . I think a lot of "tortured souls" have life knowledge very early on and have the (emotional) intelligence to signal the painful truth about life via their work to the rest of us, whether we're listening or not. I couldn't begin to express thoughts like these in my mid twenties. I still couldn't tbh, but when you see it laid out like that a quarter of a century on I think it's plain he was an astonishing talent

Bad craic. There's only roughly 10% of cardiac arrests survive unfortunately and most of those have had a defib and been rushed to the nearest hospital. Being down for 30mins on a plane was always going to be difficult to pull through from :(
