Thing is the Conference League is very winnable for them. Also think they’ve been treated differently than a bigger club would’ve been. But domestically they have been happy forelock tugging and voting with the elite clubs to maintain the status quo. So it’s apt they’ve fallen foul of Uefa’s rules here. And I think Guehi is a good player, but he’s a downgrade on prime VVD. It’s a canny deal for a player with a year left on his contract from Palace’s pov

i wonder if they see him as his eventual successor. He is still quite young and VVD wasnt really world class (no noticed anyway) until he signed for Liverpool.

Im not even sure he’ll be first choice CB over Konate. I think they are signing an Italian CB as well.

Judging by last season they'd probably be capable of winning the Europa too :cuppa:

Could make a few bob if your taking the car and give a lift to any locals wanting to visit the UK

On the other hand its probably quicker and safer to get back from Kazakhstan than it is Glasgow 😀

One of my unfulfilled ambitions was/is to do the silk road - could do a combo if we draw these (and I win the fucking lottery).

Fair comment. They’d be favourites for the Conference though you’d think. Not a lot of money in it but it’s a legitimate European trophy. I don’t suppose there’s much money in the Europa League either

New things being introduced this season:

The 8 second rule: if keepers hold on to the ball for more than 8 seconds, a corner will be awarded. The best part is that the ref has to do a visible 5 second finger countdown for the last 5 seconds.

Substitute interviews: broadcasters have now secured the rights to interview players that have been subbed off ffs.

They'll all just say 'I picked up a slight knock so we all thought it best I come off' or words to that effect so it'll not be the zinger the PL and broadcasters think it'll be.

Interviewer: "you seemed to be playing well, why do you think you were taken off?"

Player: "aaargh, fuck me, aaargh"

Interviewer: " does your knee usually bend that way?"

Well, ladies and gentleman. That was Joe Willock's take on his substitution. Back to you.

Sky on a sycophantic cartel wankfest with the current top 25 PL players - only 4 of the list don't play for Liverpool (6 entries), Arsenal (6 entries), Man City (3 entries), Chelsea (3 entries) or Man Utd (3 entires):

1. Salah (Liverpool)
2. Haaland (Man City)

3. Palmer (Chelsea)

4. Rodri (Man City)

5. Isak (Newcastle)
6. Van Dijk (Liverpool)
7. Saka (Arsenal)
8. Rice (Arsenal)
9. Fernandes (Man Utd)

10. Magalhaes (Arsenal)
11. Caicedo (Chelsea)
12. Alisson (Liverpool)

13. Wirtz (Liverpool)
14. Saliba (Arsenal)
15. Odegaard (Arsenal)
16. Eze (Crystal Palace)
17. MacAllister (Liverpool)
18. Guimaraes (Newcastle)
19. Cunha (Man Utd)
20. Mbeumo (Man Utd)

21. Rogers (Aston Villa)

22. Fernandez (Chelsea)
23. Foden (Man City)
24. Gravenberch (Liverpool)
25. Gyokeres (Arsenal)

Not sure quite how Tonali in particular doesn't make that list when you consider some of the names on there.

Caicedo, cunha, enzo fernandez, gravenberch and then wirtz & gyokeres (who have a grand total of 0 premier league minutes) being on that list is a joke

So disrespectful how Liverpool, sky and the rest have disrespected Arsenal's Isak.
