Taking Toonpacks long and inglorious history with the polis into consideration here, is that the woman who played Juliet Bravo? :cuppa:

Watched the Lockerbie thing on iPlayer, reminded me I was getting pissed at a do in the bar in North Shields nick when it happened.

I watched that the other night. I was 11 at the time and remember it vividly. What I wasn't aware of at the time was the flight path was over the village where my grandparents lived. Had it exploded just 5 minutes earlier it'd have been dropping there rather then Lockerbie.

Well I've had no email and NUFC attempted to take 37 quid from my bank acc twice yesterday. Bank for some reason refused, if I can be arsed to sit in a 45 minute telephone queue I may phone and ask what that crack* is.

come to think of it, how the fuck did @Tom get a wembley ticket??

Honest answer, it was through living vicariously

A have a cousin who is a very successful businessman/lawyer in USA & he bought 4 club wembley tickets in the centre circle club - I was lucky enough to be asked to go.

It was a neutral section, Sting was in the queue behind us getting in & Ryan Taylor was in front.

I have never felt so poor.

Mate of mine was in Weardale Mountain Rescue Team at the time, they were asked to assist with searching in Kielder Forest for debris and remains.
His teammate found a trainer with its “contents”still in it.
Said it was the most depressing thing he’s ever done- lots of luggage and clothing recovered.

Aye, the polis weren't looking forward to having to go, my mates always said the worst things for them to attend were cot deaths or a big RTA, big plane crash would be on a whole different level 😔

Tbh I completely ignored him but I did speak to Taylor who predicted we’d win 2-1…

Ugh, that must be a horrible task. I was walking across road near the shop in our village that night and my old man pulled up in the car. He wound down the window and said "there's a plane come down on the petrol station at  Lockerbie, must be an RAF jet".... A fairly  sombre Christmas day & new year I seem to remember. Seemed wrong to celebrate as usual.

There were dozens of "amateur souvenir hunters" who all got 6 months at Jedburgh Sheriff Court. Fuckin ghouls. Some kids me and my brother knew from being at Gala Tech were among them. We were all 18/19 and had not long since passed our tests and so were most of those wandering the hills all along the border. My old man made it perfectly clear what he'd do to us if we got caught up on any of that nonsense...

I'd have loudly berated him for writing that abortion of a song for the 98 cup final which he was so enthusiastic about, (song), he got someone else to perform it rightly thinking 'I'm not singing that shite'. A song that went down so well that the following year when we got to another cup final NUFC just didn't bother with a song.

My old man regularly used to make work trips up to Glasgow and went A69 / A74(M). He went up there the first week of January 1989 and I remember him telling us the crater was considerably bigger than the pictures on the TV were suggesting. He said the whole appearance of Sherwood Crescent was what he imagined the Blitz must have been like.

That following weekend the British Midland landed on the M1 and my Mam said she was never going in a plane again! We were in Majorca the following month!

My FIL had a farm up that way and found some debris, as well.

I was just reading the ages of the people who died in the attack, not one of them over 21 years old. An awful waste of life.

I became good friends with the driver and he was hounded by the MPs because he had an Irish name. A good many were from the north east. I was in hospital with a young lad who lost a leg on his first deployment he was only 18.
