Cunha to Manchester United makes absolute sense to me.

He's exactly the kind of player that Manchester United chase; looks flashy, has some renown, ego the size of Brazil.

He doesn't solve their problems whatsoever. They need a reliable striker, physicality and control in midfield, quality at fullback, pace and quality at CB and reliability in goal. What they don't need is a mercurial creativity. They have that from Garnacho, Fernandez, Amad?

He'll sign for them, play well for a bit, then become increasingly peripheral until he's farmed out on loan to Betis or wherever.

Yup, this is a quintessential Manchester United signing.

Interesting, I thought he might actually be a good buy for them. I suppose it's telling that no other teams seemed to be in for him though.

Not sure if Eddie would go for him but to break down the teams that come and sit in at St James we need someone of his often brilliant level  :cuppa:

He's a talented player, but I think he needs guidance to get the best out of him. I don't think he'll get that at Old Trafford.

We do definitely need someone with that je ne sais pas, but I think we could get that from within our squad. Isak, Barnes, Bruno, Gordon, Tonali all have the ability to pull something out their arse to slice through a low block.

Having a talented young attacking option from the bench would be great, but I don't think Cunha would put the shift in to start in what is at it's heart a team centered upon hard work and intensity.

Well on the evidence of this season I think am going to disagree with you there…said it before; 15-20 points behind Liverpool with potential champions league next season . We absolutely do need that player. We needed him in the second half on Sunday iyam…

Agree with this, but I'm also of the view that with decent management he'd be a stunning player.

Which begs the question - how the hell did Pereira get anywhere near a Manager of the Season nomination?!

You play Cunha under the leadership of someone like Howe and I think you'd get the very best out of him. Under Amorim? No chance.

Joao Pedro at Brighton up for sale after a fight at the training ground. We were interested before he went there.

Sounds like the scrap was his fault so he might be a prick. They also want mad money.

Wouldn’t touch him with someone else’s personally but expect to see links soon

We have players that can score pens tbf, and two players who cut in from the left who bag more from open play.

If we were after a hot headed South American who plays for Brighton I’d prefer Enciso. That said, I’d prefer neither.

Enciso with a personality/temperament transplant would be a quality player.

I honestly didn't type that because I thought I'd get no end of abuse.

Seems I was wrong.

We need a player who can do the unexpected, absolutely. I just haven't been convinced that Cunha could be that player for Eddie Howe's Newcastle.

So leaving aside you originally said we were ok with what we’ve got who would be your top tip for this role?…

Sorry I do believe we have players who can do the unexpected. I don't think Cunha is the right player for Howe's team.

I think we need a right sided attacking threat. Murphy has been surprisingly great this season, but I don't think we can rely on him being this good next season AND even if he is, we need depth. So I'd go for someone like Veiga, Gittens, Bakayoko. All got decent potential, and Gittens and Bakayoko have been playing at a decent level.

Concerns with all of them, of course. Bakayoko around his defensive contributions, Gittens is pretty raw and Veiga has been plying his trade in the Saudi league for the past 2 seasons.

I think we need the right sided striker and the jack in the box. A right sided striker playing at the level Murphy has been is an £80 million player. We’re not paying that so we’re going to be lucky to tread water regardless of what level European competition we’re playing at next season. We properly need another threat…
