toonotl 3828 Posted yesterday at 12:23 Share Posted yesterday at 12:23 To be honest, I’m happy for Howe to be the man for recruitment. He knows what he’s doing, he’s a workaholic, knows what players he wants, and has a track record of successful signings. I’m pretty chill about this. He’ll take the lead for the window. That definitely adds to our ability to react quickly in the market by removing a middle man who isn’t in the same page. This is not sustainable for the future but for this window it could be a positive, especially if Mitchel was insisting he knew best, which, based on current evidence, he fuckin did not at all. End of the day, I trust Howe. If he doesn’t think he can work with Mitchel then Mitchel has to go.
Dougle 3916 Posted yesterday at 12:24 Share Posted yesterday at 12:24 What actually did this bloke do whilst here? He swaggered in with his big balls and big belly and his "not fit for purpose" comments. But aye, not fit for purpose ay Paul? How much did we spend overall on this fella?
Isegrim 10823 Posted yesterday at 12:25 Share Posted yesterday at 12:25 Meh. Probably need to try for Giles again. Fucking shambles that we can’t fill the position responsible for "planning" with someone sticking around for longer than a season.

Toonpack 12514 Posted yesterday at 12:27 Share Posted yesterday at 12:27 Just now, Gemmill said: Mutual consent is usually polite wording for "we just sacked the cunt". It won't be gross misconduct but clearly he's not impressed anyone with his plans for the window. Quite possibly, Eddie was all about "get it done now" and was meeting the bossman (who was all over Eddie at FT on Sunday lots of hugs and a decent length jovial chat). Eddie's stock must be incredibly high with PIF after what he's achieved, if Al-Rumayyan has gone to Mitchell and said OK so what's the plan and it's been all options rather than identified targets, could well see it being less than well received. Deffo not gross-misconduct, that's "clear your desk and go now" stuff, not go a month later.

This is clearly a result of the chairman's visit at the weekend. It honestly wouldn't surprise me if Mitchell being asleep at the wheel for Cunha to Man United is what has prompted the move fast comments, and that's flared up when it looks like Mbeumo and Delap might also be headed there. If that's three of our big summer targets gone/all but gonr before the window has even opened, that would be enough to cost Mitchell his job.
Craig 7940 Posted yesterday at 12:34 Share Posted yesterday at 12:34 Aye, I presume he's dithered whilst waiting to see if we actually do qualify for the CL. Meanwhile, Man Utd rolled the dice before they knew if they were in or out.
Ayatollah Hermione 15423 Posted yesterday at 12:37 Share Posted yesterday at 12:37 Aye, this looks to me like there’s fundamentally different approaches to transfers that the two of them can’t get past. Howe’s position has never been stronger and neither will budge so Mitchell has to go. Probably fortuitous that Eales, the bloke who probably brought Mitchell in, is away as well so there goes even more support. FWIW, I fully expect Steve Nickson to get the job. He and Howe seem fairly aligned and his name was in the hat post-Ashworth
Gemmill 53763 Posted yesterday at 12:40 Share Posted yesterday at 12:40 The biggest losers here are Howe's wife and kids, cos they're not gonna see hide nor hair of the bloke all summer, and whatever holiday he takes will be spent mostly on the phone. Possibly, but strange choice of words from Eddie (who is nothing if not careful with words) "I'm meeting the chairman" as opposed to "we're having a meeting". Wouldn't be surprised if he was bending the chairman's lugs during the hugs, was a canny back snd forth going on.

Craig 7940 Posted yesterday at 12:44 Share Posted yesterday at 12:44 The bit I can't agree with is in Mitchell's statement when he says "I'm leaving at a time that is right for me and the club". Absolute bullshit! It's not in the club's best interests to be going into a second successive summer without a Sporting Director in position. If Eales stepping down is a factor, this cunt should have signalled his intentions at the same time, or soon thereafter. The timing is shit - he isn't leaving for another month.
