The more I think of it the more I think @Rayvin may have been right, this whole thing has been driven by Isak and his agent rather than Liverpool. Yes they have obviously given the player encouragement but it's clear that they view him as a nice to have rather than a need to have. They tried to take advantage of the situation and get him on the cheap but clearly had no intention of paying the market value for him.
