I think as others have said, we'll probably accept £135m but only if a formal request is submitted. That'd be on his potential new club to encourage him to submit it.

Ewerk is right though. The massive stumbling block in all this is the replacement and because of AFCON, Wissa can not be the only answer. We've 6 leagues plus the FA Cup during that period and I should imagine Champions League match 7 would be impacted by it too.

We can’t let him go without at least one replacement. Even then, if it’s Wissa then he’s off to AFCON which again leaves us with no strikers.

we could bid for a striker again in january but it would leave us relying on wissa and gordon/osula until then, which is a massive punt with l the extra fixtures

I have been in complete agreement about this for weeks.  But, I now can't see any way that he plays for us again.  So keeping him only means we still have no strikers to play and don't have the money to spend going forward.  Is there any benefit to us to do that as long as we can save face in terms of the price we receive?

See I reckon there is a good chance he pulls on the shirt again. If he wants a move next summer and get paid as a world class striker then he needs to play and we need him to play. Now maybe I've underestimated how detached he is from reality but if he continues to strike then both sides are losers.

I'm not sure the money is that much benefit either. The knowledge other clubs have that we've got the money is actually a block to us signing anyone. Other than PSR, I doubt the Saudis will value a mere £150 million above their pride and sense of injustice.

Yep I think it's a possibility and whilst he'll never have the support of the supporters again, they'll turn a blind eye if he's banging the goals in.

He's proven this summer that he's a greedy mercenary cunt. He's desperate to move on, and he's desperate to play in the World Cup. If he's still registered to us come 2nd September, the best way he's going to achieve this is by making himself available for NUFC.

Well £135m with a transfer request submitted is £150m to Newcastle United's balance sheet.

It's not £150 Mill from the buyer though and THAT is important because otherwise Isak doesn't lose, he'll get the discount back from his new club.

I'd like to think there is a way to reintegrate him but I can't see it.  I think the most likely scenario at the moment is indeed that we are both losers.

That's a negotiation for him and his future employers which we will be out of our control. At the end of the day we will still end up with £150m for him.

Just caught up on the shite with this.

It’s clear to me that Isak is totally isolated and only being advised by the worst possible people- his agents.

Footballers have rarely been noted for their wisdom, and he’s a young, pampered bloke who’s had everything done for him in his career so far-

need a house, club will sort it

need a car, club will sort it.
need a housekeeper and cook, club will sort it.

So, why we expect them to have a fucking clue how to behave in situations like this is a strange one.

That’s not me trying to get him off the hook, it’s just what appears to me to be the reality- he’s taken piss poor advice

from people who’s primary interest is their own financial gain, not his career. And those people are his only source of advice re how to act at this moment in time.

That much is clear to me, and The Statement is so obviously written by one of those “advisors”.

Once the window is shut and the reality of the situation penetrates the bubble he’s in, he’ll wake up with the biggest motherfucker of a “ Oh shit “ hangover that the North East has seen in a quite some time.

That’s when Eddie and his teammates will have the option of bringing him back in, gradually, or fucking him off to purgatory.

They’ll all have experienced, in one form or another, agents being less than honest with them, maybe not to this extent, but you get my point, and so I’d say they’re less likely than us to totally hang him out to dry.
Also, if the Gaffer is telling them that he’s back in the squad, they’ll listen.

All of which is to say, whilst his behaviour has been reprehensible, I don’t think it’s entirely driven by him alone, and I also don’t think he’ll be the pariah of the squad for too long.

TLDR: Agents are cunts.

£15 Mill lighter than we could have been (at £150 plus no need to pay bonuses) which would cover a nice raise for Sandro over a few years for example. But whatever floats your boat surrender monkey.
