I do think we'd probably be a good few points better off with Isak here, mind. He'll get you goals when you're playing shit, and we don't have that player at the minute.

You're also forgetting that Isak was more or less crap since late March. If we had peak Isak then sure it's foreseeable that we'd have picked up additional points, but peak Isak is but a memory.

There's not a huge post-Isak hangover in the dressing room, we've played some mint football at times with big Nick at the centre of it.

well, 'mint' might be pushing it a bit far, our best football has been against the weakest teams we've played. we've laboured against average teams like wolves/fulham both of which id expect to give bradford/usg a beating too.

the rest of your post i agree with, exception possibly on gordon. I do think if there's a possibility of hangover it'll be with him. he's not as good as he thinks he is, he's not worth anywhere near £280k a week and his poor performances very likely go back to the interest/us touting him to liverpool in the summer of '24. he's been largely shite for a season and a 1/3 now other than the odd anomaly in the CL.

needs to get his fucking finger out his arse before i chase him down barrack rd in his car.

I'd settle for him having a haircut and getting rid of that ridiculous hairband. Eddie should lay down the law, the minute players think they have freedom to piss around with hairbands and other fashion statements they think they can take their foot off the pedal. Brian Clough wouldn't stand for it.

Brian Clough wouldn't stand for poofters, non-alcoholic drinks or the truth about Hillsborough either, but I do quite like the idea of him hoofing Andreas Andersson into the middle of next week and telling him to get a buzzcut.

My lass keeps breaking into song with "let's get physical" every time she sees him in possession of the ball. Was mildly amusing initially, I'm glad he's got injured so it's put a stop to that nonsense.

Although, thanks to Gemmill, Mambo No. 5 seems to miraculously get played through the sonos every time MGW appears

'Late' March - (whenever that is) he had played 4 games and scored 1

I don't know what you mean. By late March he had

He did score a few goals later in the season (after late March), but that included the fifth goal against Crystal Palace and penalties against Ipswich and Brighton.

Nah, we’d still have played shite with him and Liverpool would be equally as bad without him.

Can't go with this personally. We would have beaten Villa and arguably would have done better at Bournemouth too, that would have had a massive effect on morale and pressure on the team.

He cost us 5 points at least at the start of the season.

I wonder if he's the only player that Howe hasn't improved.

When he played for Tuchel for England the other week he was brilliant - and was just as strong for us the following game - then ,, back to his disappointing self again.

I'm biased tho, I've NEVER rated Gordon - any player who falls over and stays on his arse after getting the ball up the pitch and losing possession is not for me. It costs games and no one seems to highlight it.

We may be a few points better off if we’d have had Isak in August when we were playing well but not getting the results but he wouldn’t make much difference to our current predicament.

Maybe you should get back to editing speeches for Panorama. ;)

I've cut him a lot of slack i have on the account he's our bindipper.

if he doesn't get his finger out very soon I'll be tarring him with the same brush as the rest of the cunts.

I do think a little bit of grace has to be given to him, he was asked to be a striker early doors, then back to being a wideman, but not the wideman he was used to playing, and without the support he'd usually get from the fullback. Also, the left sided midfielder he gets support from is having a shitter as well, so...

Aye he needs a haircut. Not that I think it makes much difference but when I think back to when he was at his best, the hair was like this

Match facts: PSG v Newcastle United (UEFA Champions League) - World - Sports - Ahram Online

Come on   He may have been off the boil for 12 months, but he was unplayable for periods prior to that. There's a reason Liverpool wanted to double our money for him after we were the only team seriously interested in signing him from Everton.

You can argue he's plateaued rather than vastly improved. I think he's still got a lot of potential that needs realising.

There was a conversation going on with the pundits following the England game last night about who was the better left wing selection between Gordon & Rashford. They came to the conclusion that it'd close but that Rashford probably edges it on account of his goalscoring. Being completely dispassionate, they're probably right.

He's frustrating to fuck because there's clearly so much more to offer. Also I think he believes in the hype which doesn't help things.

Gordon IMO has improved under Howe.  But I also think he's been unlucky.  He's played striker when he's not a striker.

BUT

He also needs to sort himself out.  To say he's supposedly a stoic reader etc, he has some serious brain farts at times.  He's not delivered in the PL for a while but he's done fine in the UCL.  Yes its against some shite, but you can only play whats in front of you.  IMO he's a better player than Barnes, but this season Barnes has been the better player.

I personally don't think there's much between them. Barnes is more humble.

I found the on pitch interview at Villa Park with Gordon annoying. He was asked something about playing the role of emergency striker and he made reference to the fact he wants to play there. Sorry like, he's not good enough to be a consideration in that position for us. Response should have been - I'm more than happy to do the job that's asked of me
