Gemmill 62969
No dramas. It was an impact injury, there is no ACL issue at all, apparently.
toonotl 4656
Really hope he skips AFCON. That’ll almost make up for the games missed for the injury.

Gemmill 62969
Downie says "from what I'm hearing" there's a chance he could not go to AFCON. We'll see obviously but would be a welcome development.

He’ll be itching to get his career going for us and won’t want to miss more CL games, assuming we’re still in it then. It’s what he joined the club for and there’s no guarantee we qualify again next season

Yet multiple journalists have mentioned that Wissa is "prioritizing the club" in reference to whether or not he'll go to AFCON.

toonotl 4656
Not sure if this has been mentioned elsewhere yet. Hope reporting we won't see Wissa until after the international break—for the City game at home late Nov or even a week or so later into early Dec. He's training now but building slowly and not yet doing contact work with his teammates. The main problem is what Howe mentioned last press conference that Wissa needs a full six-week preseason to build his fitness. Silver lining is that Hope has gone super strong on reporting that Wissa won't go to AFCON. At least then we'll kind of claw back a few games that he's missed in the first third of the season by having him available for that very busy month of Dec-Jan.
Craig 12320
Those Scouse cunts who were laughing and saying it was karma that Wissa got injured after we encouraged him to hound himself out of Brentford (we didn't of course). Wouldn't it be beautiful if a) he's available before the rat is and b) he belts 2-3 goals on his first outing.

Whether it be by someone from Newcastle, or his own agent.
