I would give Burn a rest tbh.  He's not had one and does work his bollocks off.  I just dont see Howe doing that.

First choice back four for me is

Tino Thiaw Botman Hall

I know Botman had a shocker v Brentford, but he's better than that.

He had a couple of stinkers compared to the level he can operate at.  But who hasnt for us this season?

That back four for me is nailed on our best.

The injury seems to have definitely taken something out of him, but with Burn & Schar to complement (and Lascelles tbf) we should be carefully managing his return to full strength. Central Defence is something we appear to have got strength in numbers for ... for the immediate future, anyway.

I am actually not really bothered. Our performances have been shit and the fickle reaction from fans even worse.

Howe will sort it out but until then I will mostly just care about matches without giving a fuck about the noise.

I might watch the replay of the cup final once and again though.

I don't think the reaction from most of our fans, well certainly not on this this message board, has been particularly fickle. We've always complained about shit performances, just we've been privileged over the last three years or so to see much fewer of them than normal, but we'll still openly talk about it when we do see them. It's not been fickle at all. If we see great, we'll call it great. If we see shit, we'll call it shit. It's just honesty.

I'm employing the 'expect fuck all and you won't be disappointed' approach to this one. 2-0 to them.

I’m not convinced that you won’t be disappointed if that actually happens. :cuppa:

People can lose their shit in the match thread but beyond that it’s all fairly reasoned analysis. I love this place ❤️

This place would be boring AF if the match threads were measured and rational  what's the point in being a football fan if you can't lose your shit and think the whole team are club footed bonk eyes every time the concede a goal!?

Nah, the way players are just rated on single performances , over the top criticism and not coping with poor performances is just fickle.

If we are actually focusing on individual performances here for reactions, I think you'll find that most people aren't being fickle at all. Just look at Anthony Gordon, who has been essentially shite for the best part of a year, and it's only within the last, in my opinion, month or two, that people have started calling him out.

The same goes with Dan Burn for example, we love him but people are starting to say, come on, man, he shouldn't be at left back.

This even goes for the manager. Eddie Howe is beyond question our most magnificent manager in recent times, but come on, he makes the occasional, in fact, repeatedly bad choice when it comes to things like substitutions and selection.

Having the audacity to discuss these things, or even dare to mention them isnt  being fickle

Don’t think its fickle. Think it’s reactionary.

Being a football fan is about your feelings, how you feel like we should play. How you feel we played etc.

Some of the comments are reactionary, which should be expected.

Im one of the Mr Spock fans personally. I can see the progression and the long term plan. I appreciate the recent great times honestly (best in my lifetime), so I’m ok to look past the current mediocre run.

That isn’t to say someone mouthing off in the match thread calling everyone shite is a lesser opinion. It’s all valid, but maybe from my point of view maybe a bit over the top and can see why it would annoy other fans.

Feel like Rayvin here, trying to appeal to both sides.

I’m definitely of the view that I’m going to sit back and just enjoy the progress the club is making considering the good times we’ve had these past few seasons. And finally winning that cup has made me a lot more relaxed about it all.

At least, I tell myself that and then come kick off, I’m asking for people subbed off after 15 minutes because they’ve miscontrolled a throw. That’s what football is about, let Eddie Howe keep a level head, he’s the manager. Let me shout on like an idiot, I say
