Chaser 1914 Posted Wednesday at 22:01 Share Posted Wednesday at 22:01 I missed the first half so only got to see us pasting them and could have been 4 or 5 with the posts, near misses and decent saves from their keeper. Despite the opponent, it feels like 2 points dropped. Our problem is psychological given theyre all late goals. We lose shape and panic

Miley is gonna be one hell of a player. He needs a proper run in the team. He has to be close due to Joelintons form.
Howmanheyman 43823 Posted Wednesday at 22:01 Share Posted Wednesday at 22:01 12th but would've been seventh tonight, should've went fifth in the PL but again these late goals are killing us. Shit happens but it's happening too often, they played really well at times yet I thought we were the better side at the end which makes it more of a sickener.
Kid Dynamite 9298 Posted Wednesday at 22:02 Share Posted Wednesday at 22:02 These won their last 3 CL games without conceding. A 2-2 draw away is a decent result, and on another day we beat them with the chances we had. Id have snapped your hand off for a 2-2 when I thought we had conceded a penalty
Billy Whitehurst 1282 Posted Wednesday at 22:03 Share Posted Wednesday at 22:03 More importantly, do we reckon Howmanheyman was more of Sgt. Bash or Sir Killalot fan? And yes, I did have to google that.
Holden McGroin 9864 Posted Wednesday at 22:03 Share Posted Wednesday at 22:03 You had a feeling it was coming. But we can squarely blame this on Gemmil celebrating Mileys goal as “the winner”. 1

Rayvin 8303 Posted Wednesday at 22:06 Share Posted Wednesday at 22:06 That one is absolutely a positive result. I thought we were getting bent over after 20 mins of the first half but we recovered and looked the better team by the end. No complaints from me really, Ramsdale was making some good saves by the end and the team looked sharper second half. Howe with a rocket maybe. Daftarse 72 Posted Wednesday at 22:06 Share Posted Wednesday at 22:06 Howes tactics and all of these late goals Newcastle are conceding are doing my napper in. That said, Leverkusens left hand post was a right cnut in the 2nd half

Good result that, they beat city at city the other week. Beat PSV and we are through, maybe automatically. Looking at the teams above us and their games, we need to take 4 points as a min but very likely 6.
aimaad22 5950 Posted Wednesday at 22:10 Share Posted Wednesday at 22:10 Easy to be disappointed because we were 6th for a while there and have conceded yet another late goal. But the second half performance was excellent, we're unlucky not to have scored more. A good away result at the end of the day.

Keep this up over festive the period & we will be in a very good place come Janaury.

wykikitoon 28482 Posted Wednesday at 22:15 Share Posted Wednesday at 22:15 It's nailed on though at the weekend he starts Burn who played a full 90 tonight and starts with Joe who's been shite. Burn I have no problems with at CB but would have him with a bit of a rest later on today. But Joe needs a spell on the bench but Howe has a mental block about dropping him

Agree on that point. Teams above are playing eachother so points guaranteed in that 6th to 11th position, which is why 3 points won't be enough. Should not worry about straight through qualification, make sure we are seeded in the knockout stage and if we cannot beat Sparta Prague or whoever we draw, we don't deserve to make the quarter finals. Beat PSV then send the bairns out against PSG. Edited Wednesday at 22:46 by sammynb

Rayvin 8303 Posted Wednesday at 22:48 Share Posted Wednesday at 22:48 Is it fair to acknowledge that we're having a harder time of the CL than the other PL teams because we're in pot 4? I know it's just one game that varies but it feels like if we were playing one additional 'shit tier' team, we'd have this in the bag.
toonotl 4657 Posted Wednesday at 22:51 Share Posted Wednesday at 22:51 Just finished watching on replay. Overall, I thought we played quite well, with the odd familiar moment of terrible defending. First goal, Tonali needs to be stronger and Bruno needs to face the ball. We are a bit of a shambles at set pieces recently. I think it's often a thing of nerve with this sort of thing. Concede a few, you'll concede more. Give nothing away for weeks, it feels like we'll never concede from a set piece ever again. Just need to get that confidence back. I do also think that Ramsdale doesn't command his box well and it's probably something our players have come to depend on/expect from our goalkeeper. Second goal, Hall fails to sense the danger (looked very leggy too which is to be expected) and Burn unfortunately couldn't cover for him. It was some nice play from Leverkusen with the dummy in the leadup play completely skinning Tonali (was it?). Fair play. Not necessarily the worst defending ever but could've been better handled. In attack, we looked good I thought. Unlucky not to have a third after hitting the post twice and Thiaw's header being nicely saved. Gordon has come back to life in the last two games. Maybe he's finally woken up to the fact he needs to prove he's a player and not rest on his laurels. He's had his best two games in 18 months in the past two games. Miley is a special talent. He nearly got on the end of a header right before he eventually did and scored. Big moment for us and he was the one to stand up. He'll displace Joelinton in our best starting XI before long at this rate. Overall, not our best game in the defending sense but an even game for the most part. I thought we were better than them in the second half. Probably our fitness showing through. 2-2 was a pretty fair reflection of the match, I thought. It's a good point. Pity we couldn't hold onto the lead away from home -- yet again. But, we were probably only marginally the better side, and got a good point away from home against a very good team. I'm happy with that. All to play for in the coming CL games and all in our hands. We really couldn't have asked for more than that going into the season.
Isegrim 11877 Posted Wednesday at 23:24 Share Posted Wednesday at 23:24 Frustrating. I told my daughter that we fecking use to concede fecking late fecking goals only a few seconds before wevlost shape and concentration again. We played well for large parts and a point is still a decent result but we keep shooting ourselves in the foot. German commentators including were full of praise for large parts saying that it seems that it is just the beginning of the road for us.
