Manchester has Oasis and New Order amongst others, Liverpool has the beatles (pish if you ask me) and Lightening Seeds, Newcastle has The Animals and a whole host of other world musical stars, even fuckin Leicester have Kasabian, I thought I'd dedicate the next two songs to Sunderland, their two most famous songs in world musical history....

Anna Calvi - Anna Calvi - Pretty good attempt at a cinematic pop album. Goes into Bond theme territory at times; I thought the Last Shadow Puppets' album success would have meant more of this type of stuff earlier. Probably a better attempt at a homage than that one.

Cut Copy - Zonoscope - Doesn't have a song half as good as Hearts on Fire.

Harry Nilsson - Nilsson Schmilsson - Some of the best pop music in history. Shame he ruined his voice singing with Lennon a few years later.

Just watched pulps headline set at Glastonbury 95. Had it on sky plus for ages. Bit of a breakthrough set iirc standing in for the stone roses. Jarvis' voice not all that but still a class frontman
