  1. The bid is from Fulham according to The Sun.
  2. Is he in the last year of his contract ? If he's going to be replaced then sell ! if not we need him £65k a week or not !
  3. Shearer's too big for Ashley. He was burnt by Keegan's popularity. He's not interested in getting in a manager who the fans would side with in opposition to him. “We want him to be the manager 110%. He’s very good at what he does and he’s a straight-talking guy – we like that."
  4. Carling Cup Date Confirmed NEWCASTLE United will face Huddersfield Town in their Second Round Carling Cup tie on Wednesday, August 26 (kick-off 7.45pm).
  5. Royal Return Too Soon For Duo NEWCASTLE United duo Nicky Butt and Danny Guthrie will not be available for Saturday's inaugural Gallowgate fixture against Reading. Butt (hand) and Guthrie (hamstring) were out on the club's North Tyneside training pitches on Thursday but they will not figure against the Royals. Instead, caretaker boss Chris Hughton hopes to have the pair available for Wednesday's home clash with Sheffield Wednesday. "Saturday's game will come a little bit too early for both of them," he explained. "Hopefully they might be involved on Wednesday so we'll wait and see."

  10. Anyone else beginning to think this whole Barry Moat "bid" is just a ruse by Ashley to either pacify the fans or to stimulate bid from others ?

  14. Former Wales and Celtic footballer John Hartson has admitted he ignored signs of testicular cancer two years ago. Speaking to The Sun, the 34-year-old said he did not go to a doctor after finding a lump and only sought medical help after blinding headaches. Hartson, from Swansea, was released home from hospital on Tuesday after undergoing treatment for cancer. He is having chemotherapy after being diagnosed with testicular cancer which spread to his lungs and brain. The father-of-three, who also played for Arsenal and West Ham, urged men to get checked by doctors if they notice anything abnormal on their bodies or under their skin. He told the newspaper that ignoring the growing lump was a "bloke thing". "There was a lump in my testicles which I noticed a good while back. I just didn't do anything about it," he said. "It was worrying, I'd be lying if I said it wasn't." Hartson also revealed he had told his girlfriend Sarah McManus about the lump but informed her she should not worry. "I should have gone to the doctor right away and things might be so different now," he said. "Don't wait, because the cancer spreads and all of a sudden you're in big trouble." Ms McManus told the paper: "Everyone is thrilled that John has been allowed home. But the last few weeks have been horrendous." The Wales football team will wear a specially-designed patch supporting a cancer charity on Wednesday night and their shirts for the friendly against Montenegro will be auctioned on eBay following the game, the Football Association of Wales (FAW) confirmed. An FAW official said: "We will have patches on the players' shirts for the match supporting a charity that works in aid of a cancer charity, checkemlads.com, specifically for male cancer problems. "The players are concerned about John's situation. Apart from the patches on their shirts, they will also wear T-shirts during the warm-up for the match with John's name on them. "Afterwards we will get all their shirts back and then auction them for charity." Hartson was initially treated at Swansea's Morriston Hospital in south Wales before he was transferred to a cancer ward at Singleton Hospital in the city last week. He was discharged from hospital on Tuesday. His family has also issued a statement thanking all the staff at the two hospitals for "their support in getting John to this stage in his treatment". In a statement on the FAW website, Ms McManus said: "Along with our chosen charity www.checkemlads.com who are forming a specific John Hartson Foundation, I would stress the importance of visiting the website, so that men can make themselves aware of how to check themselves and know the signs and symptoms of testicular cancer." Hartson retired from football in February last year and had been working as a television pundit.
  15. could watch that all night ........................................... I've dreamt of doing just that for years, I hate the twunt with a passion, used to support Watford you know. This is worth a listen: Common myth apparently. One of the lasses at work went to school with him and reckons he was always Chelsea daft. Perhaps I just want it to be true
  16. Choon! The players should come out to that tbh.
  17. I would probably spontaineously combust in a bubble of spunk at the very thought of it.
  18. The Independent O'Leary in frame for Newcastle as Ashley set to reject takeover bid By Ian Herbert Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley is considering a move to bring David O'Leary, pictured, in as manager The prospect of Newcastle United spending the new season under the ownership of Mike Ashley and the managerial hand of David O'Leary edged closer yesterday with no breakthrough in takeover discussions with Tyneside businessman Barry Moat. If no deal is forthcoming by the end of the week – Ashley is understood to feel that Moat and his backers are £10m short – one appears increasingly unlikely with only two weeks of the transfer window remaining for a prospective new owner to refashion the side. As things stand, the odds seem set against a deal going ahead, leaving Ashley at the helm of the club and ready to turn to O'Leary. Uncertainty about the sale process is heightened by the lack of clarity about the price Ashley is demanding, which ranges from £70m to £90m, though there is a correlation between the number of players the club can get moved on, so reducing the wage bill, and the figure Ashley will expect. Ashley certainly seems to feel that Moat's offer is unrealistic, which has lessened the prospect of Alan Shearer being appointed manager – as is Moat's desire. An associate of Ashley's suggested yesterday that he might be at St James' Park for Newcastle's first home game of the Championship season against Reading on Saturday.
