  1. I suppose it gets easier with practice and habit and all that. It's easy enough if you're only doing it once every couple of months, but if you're going to be organising it every week then an easier format would be to your advantage, I agree.
  2. (although I do question whether "rimshot" is the best of smileys to use here...)
  3. Oh god, I forgot about Jonny and his gay bingo. He hasn't done it for weeks now. In a sulk after nobody wanted to play.
  4. The one I go to (and occasionally organise) has the following format: 50 general knowledge questions, including: - 5 music questions at no. 10, 20 etc. to break things up a bit, give people time to go to the bar/toilet, etc. - 5 picture questions dotted throughout, provided on a separate sheet at the start - a given number of "doubles" (usually 5 or 6, depending on how many the quizmaster could be bothered to come up with), being adjacent questions with the same or a very similar answer. For example, question 1 might be "What's the longest river in Italy?" and question 2 "What's the name of the little red Teletubby?", both answers being "Po". Adds a neat little brainteaser option to proceedings and gives you a chance to make inspired guesses, although can be a little obscure/forced. plus - usually one anagram (famous person, place name etc.) - often one wordlink (i.e. "which word can be placed either before or after these words to form another word?") It seems to work OK, even if it no doubt sounds horrendously confusing.
  5. Just (wet-)shaved for the first time in about a week. Ouch.
  6. Aye, but is it green? Or Entirely Liquid?
  7. Hanging gays has served them pretty well so far.
  8. Perhaps they are, I wouldn't know really, not having lived there. Has he actually lived there though? I presume his opinion is pretty much exclusively shaped by the fact that they've got full-on gay marriage and we haven't. Or he's had a fortnight in Sitges A more progressive and lubricated society indeed.

I love the way the words "Entirely Liquid" are bolded in that diagram.
  11. Beth Gibbons always sounds terribly affected to me, as if she puts careful thought into how she's going to pronounce every single syllable. Still sounds damn good mind.
  12. I'm meant to be flying Gatwick-Hamburg tomorrow morning so hopefully things'll clear up by then. Apparently they closed the Gatwick runway earlier but it's open again now. Flying in a snowstorm! Can't wait.
  13. Louis Armstrong in his prime. Actually, even Louis Armstrong when he was a croaky old wreck.
  14. People have woken up, opened the curtains and found the place looking pretty. They've every right to be confused.
  15. I didn't hate him as much as I did the drummer.
  16. Meenzer: Cox underrated! Darnit, another subliminable messaging plot foiled.
  17. OK, I'm gyppoloading the Maximo Park song now that you've gone and got me all curious.
  18. Sweet lord. He's a very good singer. Very samey but never the less there is no doubt he can sing. When he sings "Mistaaaaaa Writaaaaaaa" I want to stab him in the gullet. Why cause he's talented and your not? Hurrah, the "you're not allowed to be critical of anything you can't do yourself" argument. Always a crowd-pleaser.
  19. No idea about his performance in Manhunter, but Brian Cox is... well, I was going to say a seriously underrated actor, but he seems to have been getting his just rewards in the media etc. over recent years. So let's just call him quite good.
  20. Oooo yes. (edit: the Meenzer/Patrokles love-in will end shortly, folks.) I don't know what you're trying to imply about my performance. Howay, it's been five minutes already. I've got things to do.
  21. It's weird, I listen to music all the time while I'm working but I generally can't get on with Internet radio. I'm pulling an all-nighter tonight though, so I'll give that one a blast at some point.
