  1. Social media was a mistake. I don't even fucking use most of it anymore unless discord and WhatsApp count. All the rest of it is to me is a radicalisation platform.
  2. My view, which is all theory, is that there are a few layers. 1 - This is an anti-globalist agenda seeking to do what Trump basically says and restore manufacturing back to the US. I think this comes probably informed by some scenario planning that US administrations had pre-Trump. America is diminishing as a power and will be overtaken by China. This represents significant strategic concern, especially since China retains so much manufacturing production itself. It could in theory outgun America in a weapons production arms race, over time. This is why the administration is so obsessed with natural resources - to make the US wholly self sufficient and separate to the whims of wider internationalism. Trump has referenced that foreign powers could hamstring US operations by withholding key aspects of their pipeline. 2 - Starting this trade war inevitably forces reciprocation from China. The administration wants this. China has banned/prevented natural mineral imports to the US as part of their response, something the US anticipated. This represents a demonstrable impact on American supply chains which undermines the security and gives a live example of the strategic risk noted in point 1. Trump can point to this and say 'look, see, we told you. We are vulnerable'. 3 - They invade Greenland, secure Ukraine, in order to ensure their own territorial control over these same minerals, thus meeting the goal of point 1. That's my conspiracy theory take.
  3. Fair, they've basically just done worldwide Brexit in about 2 months. No way they're ready for it. Most of them didn't even seem to believe it was going to happen until the words were dribbling out of his mouth.
  4. The fear/greed index on CNN is now at 4/100 "Extreme Fear". I'm trying to see if it's ever been that low before but so far I don't think so
  5. He almost certainly is one to go mind. He's behind even the first team but also Miley and Willock IMO. Granted they all offer something a bit different but still.
  6. I was too young to appreciate how good he was I suppose - just a kid so honestly didn't understand what made a player 'good' other than that they scored goals a lot. I still remember him firmly from that era though, he's one of the first 5 players I'd think of.
  7. He was a right back if memory serves? No chance he gets in after Trippier. Honestly same for LB, think Hall will own that in any Top XIs soon.
  8. I just checked on youtube and there are various Man Utd fan channels glorifying it that's another few years of hatred banked for me.
  9. Whenever I think of Rob Lee I always remember Solskjaer hacking him down when he was through on a 1v1 against Man Utd to potentially win us the game. Absolutely hated OGS for years after that.
  10. While that's true, I still wonder if Howe's ability to develop players is what is taking high ceiling players and really making them the best versions of themselves.
  11. Jesus.. well that's some achievement then.
  12. Nolan, Lee, Tiote... I mean I appreciate he's better than all of them but I guess I'm just wondering what the nearest we've had to him is. Honestly tempted to say the same for the whole midfield in a way.
  13. Was thinking about what @Howmanheyman was saying in the match thread about his strike comparable to Beardsley ones. Different position but like, in terms of our midfielders in the Premier League era, where do we reckon he is? Tonali or Cabaye for instance.
  14. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/trump-tariffs-chlorinated-chicken-uk-b2726709.html Trump to the UK - If you want the tariffs gone, open the doors to chlorinated chicken. If that's a red line for him in this trade deal, we're not getting that trade deal. If Starmer signs on for that, he's done.
  15. The positive is there's no way this shit holds up. Its built on absolute bullshit and has no basis in reality. The Senate has already moved to prevent it and while the House may side with Trump its only a matter of time surely. I notice no other countries have immediately retaliated yet so we'll see what happens I guess.
  16. Yeah that's it right there. A complete fucking nonsense is now about to cripple the global economy. This idea that the right wing are good on economics. It is a fantasy. It is. I have not once in my life seen it to be true, but now it's like they're going out of their way to be even more incompetent.
  17. I was just reading over the EU's detail about all of this: https://ec.europa.eu/commission/presscorner/detail/en/qanda_25_541 So it sounds like Trump is claiming VAT is a tariff... even though it applies to all goods, domestic and foreign.
  18. Although the other way of looking at it is that he went half in on them, and matched us like for like..! He's claiming they're at 40% on the US so he's hit them with 20%. We're at 10% so got hit with 10%. Presumably if we were in the EU, we'd be running at 40% on the US. Idk if that's true tbh but we're now fully in make believe land on these numbers so I'm claiming it either way
  19. UK hit with 10% tariffs, but he's basically lashed out at every major economy in the world. It's an attempt to push back globalisation I suppose. They also now have their anti abortion pressure groups taking root in the UK and are apparently 'monitoring' our handling of the issue. We voted to be weak. That's actually the only thing now that stops me getting angry about these things. We voted for our own enfeeblement, we have fucking no one to blame now that bigger kids are bullying us.
  20. No words for Tonali like, the guy was absolutely worth the extra year wait.
  21. Is that fucking weapon still trying to create some sort of a link with them ffs. It's like it's his life's work, which is honestly beyond sad even if he ever does find any sort of connection.
